Anthony Hobson: The legacy of talented and beautiful football associated with the Brazil team is in danger of being seriously tainted by this team, particularly Neymar. Disgraceful.

Matt Lewis: After various poor starts by big footballing nations, including the disintegration of Argentina and now Brazil’s well-below-par performance, you have to ask if England’s 2-1 win over Tunisia is starting to look like a decent performance for an opening game.

AdominableBee: People quick to hate on Neymar forget that he's had the pressure of carrying the nation on his back since the last world cup. Oh, and did you all forget how well he performed last World Cup.

Mitchell Lowe: This World Cup has been made worse by the extra teams, bored of watching poor teams defend with 10 men all game.

  5. Better late than never

    Brazil 2-0 Costa Rica

This was Brazil’s first World Cup victory thanks to a goal scored in the 90th minute.

A good time to start scoring late, eh?

This is how Group E look after that result. Serbia play Switzerland later today (19:00 BST).

Ryan Bracken: They got the result in the end but Neymar's diving is inexcusable. Pressure doesn't give you an excuse to cheat. His tap in goal and one bit of good skill shouldn't mask a poor performance.

Tony Greaves: Why was fashion victim Neymar pretending to cry?

James Hobbs: I'm sick of the diving at this World Cup going unpunished. If a player dives, book them! Don't wave play on. It needs to be stamped out.

  7. Neymar adds second in injury time

Brett Mills: So Brazil scrape past Costa Rica in game 2 of the group stages and Neymar falls to his knees crying....utterly pathetic.

FlickballsJapan: Haven't liked Brazil since Rivaldo's cheating antics in 2002...

Matthew Jones: Lucky, lucky Brazil. Don’t deserve it.

  11. Neymar denied penalty by VAR review

It all happened in the closing stages of that game.

This was the moment VAR overruled the decision to award Brazil a penalty, right call?

Alex Haworth: Neymar has the emotional state of an eight-year-old.

Amrul: Glad Brazil won, we don't rubbish sides at the latter stages of the World Cup.

Fajar: Neymar in tears after the final whistle. Man, those 90 minutes must be really put the pressure on him.

    Brazil 2-0 Costa Rica

    Pat Nevin

Former Chelsea winger on BBC Radio 5 live

There are so many stories involved in this game. The majority involve Neymar. Perhaps it was on his mind that Brazil were going out.

    Brazil 2-0 Costa Rica

All over! Brazil secure their first win of this year's World Cup and a sobbing Neymar sinks to his knees.

  16. GOAL - Brazil 2-0 Costa Rica

    And that's a wrap.

Brazil take full advantage of an exposed Costa Rica defence as Douglas Costa crosses from the left and Neymar volleys home from close range.

They made hard work of it, but got the job done in the end.

  17. Post update

    Brazil 1-0 Costa Rica

Neymar flicks the ball over a defender by the corner flag. Lovely skill, although it ultimately comes to nothing.

He can attempt those tricks now, though, with Brazil heading to victory.
