  3. How does the draw work?

    Teams are seeded based on the October 2017 Fifa world rankings. There are four pots - each containing eight teams. Russia will be joined in pot one by the seven highest-ranked teams, with the next eight in pot two, the following eight in pot three and the lowest ranked eight in pot four.

    No teams from the same confederation, with the exception of Uefa, will be drawn in the same group. A maximum of two European countries can be in any group.

    The coverage on BBC Two and within this page gets under way at 15:00 GMT, with the draw itself scheduled to start at 15:22 precisely

    Hello and welcome to our coverage of the World Cup draw in Moscow.

    In a little over two hours' time - it will fly by - we shall find out who England, and everyone else, will be facing in the finals next summer.

    There are 32 teams split into four pots of eight and it is all reasonably straightforward stuff.
