  1. Good night from us

    That's it for tonight folks.

We've had goals, red cards, and penalty shootouts galore.

    Time for a well-earned rest...

    Thanks for joining us.

  2. Cathro content

    Elgin City 0-1 Hearts

Hearts head coach Ian Cathro was happy to see summer signing Kyle Lafferty open his account for the club in a narrow win at Elgin.

Cathro told BBC Scotland: “We anticipated it would be difficult, it’s not an easy place to come and play. They defended well and we had to be patient.

“I’m pleased that we stayed calm and that Kyle (Lafferty) got a goal. It was a good finish.”

  3. Lots to come this week

It's been a busy one tonight and this is just the start of a packed week of football in Scotland.

Celtic host Linfield tomorrow night in Champions League qualifying and Scotland Women take on England in Euro 2017. Then on Thursday Aberdeen visit Siroki Brijeg in Europa League qualifying. We'll have live text coverage of all three crucial matches.

  4. Post update

We're almost finished for the night but will hopefully hear from victorious Hearts head coach Ian Cathro before we sign off.

  5. Lack of killer instinct for Caley Thistle

Stirling Albion 0-0 Inverness CT (ICT win 2-0 on penalties)

Inverness Caley Thistle manager John Robertson told BBC Scotland: "In terms of the ball, we dominated most of the match. We knew Stirling would be at it and they were, all credit to Dave Mackay and his team. We lacked belief in the first half, had great chances to score and didn’t take them. Second half we said up the tempo and get at them, which we did. But we just couldn’t find that killer instinct.

"The more it went, the more frustrating it was. I thought we were going to be here until midnight with the penalties. Two scored out of eight, that’s incredible. Two of our guys missed the target and for professional players that’s bad technique."

  6. McCann praises Dee desire

    Raith Rovers 1-2 Dundee

Dundee manager Neil McCann was delighted to come away with a 2-1 win at Raith Rovers, even though he has no idea who scored the late winner.

McCann told BBC Scotland: "I don’t care [who scored winning goal]. Even I couldn’t see that one. Big Jack Hendry is claiming it but Faissal El Bakhtaoui is saying it came off his back. I really don’t care because it showed a lot of desire for the players to go in there.

"When Raith pegged us back, I was angry, but at this stage of the season they showed a real grit and togetherness not to just accept that. You want to start off on the front foot with a win, and Raith were excellent tonight, making it really difficult for us to break them down."

  9. What it means

Just in case all these penalties and points are confusing you, as they are with us, here is how it works.

Teams get three points for a win in the groups and if a game goes to penalties, both sides get a point with the winner of the shootout getting a bonus point.

There were seven missed penalties in the shoot-out, but Martin Scott holds his nerve to net the vital penalty before Connor Sheilds fails to score.

  15. East Kilbride win

Queen of the South 0-0 East Kilbride (EK win 4-1 on penalties)

Big result for East Kilbride as they see off Queen of the South on penalties. Thistle win it 4-1 after Kyle Jacobs and Callum Tapping both miss their penalties.

  16. Inverness CT win

Stirling Albion 0-0 Inverness CT (ICT win on penalties)

Inverness Caley Thistle eventually win this one and it was poor stuff in the penalty shootout. The Highlanders won the shootout 2-0, Liam Polworth and Iain Vigurs scoring.
