    Bournemouth 4-0 Middlesbrough

A shocker for Middlesbrough, who are nine points from safety with five games to play. Surely it's all over now?

A fine response from Bournemouth after their 4-0 drubbing at Tottenham.

That should have been five! French substitute Lys Mousset blazes over from close range after replacing Joshua King.

Rudy Gestede broke a few hearts here back in August 2015 when his headed goal gave Aston Villa all three points on Bournemouth's Premier League debut.

He's back for more today, having been introduced in place of Alvaro Negredo who was a bear with a sore head for most of the second half, taking out his verbal frustrations on the officials.

Dean Saunders said on Final Score at half-time that Boro's best hope was to nick a goal from a set-piece, and although Gestede is always a threat in that department, Boro's hopes of taking anything from the south coast back to Teesside have long since set sail into that setting sun. From which the away fans are now literally having to shield their eyes.

    Bournemouth 4-0 Middlesbrough

It's difficult to offer any positive evidence for Middlesbrough staying up on the back of this display. They conceded after just 96 seconds and Gaston Ramírez's red card was a hammer blow. This has been a terrible day for them.

With around 10 minutes left, Bournemouth are threatening to run riot here. Marc Pugh and Charlie Daniels, who have been tearing teams apart down the Bournemouth left since their days in League One, have both got on the scoresheet and look likely to create a goalscoring chance every time they burst forward.

A handful of Boro fans left after each of the third and fourth goals, but those that have remained have been a credit to their side, continuing to make plenty of noise. Not all of the 11 (now 10) men in yellow have been such a credit to the Teesside club today.

    Bournemouth 4-0 Middlesbrough

Bournemouth almost walk in a fifth. Middlesbrough want the full time whistle. Cherries fans want a fifth goal.

    Bournemouth 4-0 Middlesbrough

Five? Six? There's still plenty of time for Bournemouth to add to this. Boro are completely deflated but credit to their fans who continue to cheer their team.

  9. Boro have run out of fight

    Bournemouth 4-0 Middlesbrough

    Charlie Daniels celebrates

This is awful by Middlesbrough. They are showing no fight whatsoever and now they're 4-0 down as a short free-kick is played  to Charlie Daniels, who skips around a couple of challenges before rifling home from 20 yards.

  11. From bad to worse

    Bournemouth 3-0 Middlesbrough

    Brad Guzan

Marc Pugh doesn't score many but he's just found the net with a beauty on his 250th league appearance for Bournemouth.

It's a wonderful pass from Lewis Cook to Pugh who cuts infield and bends into the far corner.

  12. GOAL - Bournemouth 3-0 Middlesbrough

    Marc Pugh

A goal on his milestone appearance.

    Bournemouth 2-0 Middlesbrough

Hull have taken the lead at home to Watford. What does that mean for Boro? As it stands, they're NINE points from safety with five games to play after this.

  14. Coming up

    Bournemouth 2-0 Middlesbrough

It doesn't get any easier for Middlesbrough after this.

    Bournemouth 2-0 Middlesbrough

Terrific save by Brad Guzan to deny Bournemouth a third. A stooping close range header by Benik Afobe is heading for the net but Boro's American keeper does ever so well to keep it out.

  16. Post update

    Bournemouth 2-0 Middlesbrough

Negredo is back on his feet but is annoyed the officials have not punished Simon Francis. Boro are showing more attacking intent but Artur Boruc is enjoying a quiet game in the Bournemouth net.

  17. Post update

    Bournemouth 2-0 Middlesbrough

Alvaro Negredo is caught by the arm of Simon Francis during an aerial challenge. The Spaniard has taken a nasty whack on the side of the head and is down receiving treatment.

    Bournemouth 2-0 Middlesbrough

Rare corner for Boro. It's a decent delivery from Stewart Downing, who has been anonymous, but Alvaro Negredo heads wastefully over. They won't get too many better chances than that.

  19. Post update

    Bournemouth 2-0 Middlesbrough

    Stewart Downing and Simon Francis

Scrappy start to the new half. No immediate sign of urgency from Middlesbrough, while Bournemouth are in cruise control.

  20. Attack, attack, attack?

A look at the "goals for and against" columns may give a clue as to why Middlesbrough are battling relegation. While their defence has been meaner than any other outside the Premier League's elite top seven, with only 39 conceded, a return of 23 goals scored in 32 games tells its own story.
