Derby are into the top six with their win at Ipswich, as Sheffield Wednesday dropped points with a draw at Bristol City.

At the bottom, wins for Brentford, Cardiff, Nottingham Forest and Wolves have pulled them clearer of the relegation zone.

Lasse Vibe netted a double that lifts the Bees above Villa in the table.

    Birmingham 0-1 Reading

    Reading celebrate

Reading win again and strengthen their grip on third place.

John Swift the man with the crucial strike 11 minutes from time.

90 minutes have ticked by in the majority of tonight's games. Time for some stoppage-time drama?

  10. Post update

    Birmingham 0-1 Reading

Birmingham pressure towards the end of the game as they search for an equaliser, but it comes to nothing.

Lukas Jutkiewicz and Che Adams spurn the most recent half chances as we approach stoppage time.

  11. DONE DEAL: QPR sign Morrison

    Ravel Morrison

After a spell in Italy with Lazio, Ravel Morrison is back in English football on loan at QPR for the remainder of the season.

  12. Post update

    Brentford 3-0 Aston Villa

Inside the last five minutes at Griffin Park. Dean Smith's men have put on a great display this evening, knocking the ball around with smiles on their faces at times.

Villa may well have plenty of new additions, but looks like they need a bit more time on the training ground to get to know each other.

Seb Gomez: Looks like Villa need a few backroom staff like a defensive coach rather than new players. Ship goals too easily.

  14. Post update

    Barnsley 1-3 Wolves

Barnsley have a goal back at Oakwell, but surely too little too late. Marc Roberts is the scorer with 10 minutes to play.

  15. DONE DEAL: Wigan make sixth signing of deadline day

We're in the closing stages of tonight's EFL action. Time for a few more surprises?

  17. GOAL: Barnsley 0-3 Wolves

    Dave Edwards

    Dave Edwards

Two goals now for Dave Edwards, the second a rebound after Jon Dadi Bodvarsson's initial effort was blocked, and Wolves have surely wrapped up all three points against 10-man Barnsley.

  18. GOAL: Birmingham 0-1 Reading

    John Swift

    John Swift

Good things come to those who wait so they say and Reading have had to do their fair share of waiting to find a goal this evening.

Finally it comes for the third-placed side through John Swift from close range after a succession of threatening crosses into the area.

Looks like Gianfranco Zola's wait for a first win is going to go on.

  19. GOAL: Bristol City 2-2 Sheffield Wednesday

    Tammy Abraham

It's not a classic, but they all count. Tammy Abraham deflects Bristol-born Joe Bryan's shot from the edge of the box into the back of the net for his 19th goal of the season. City are level against Sheffield Wednesday.

Derby will be cheering that goal too. It will lift them up into the play-off spots.

Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest are 2-0 up against Rotherham as Britt Assombalonga pokes in his second goal of the evening from close range.

  20. Post update

    Brentford 3-0 Aston Villa

As we've been telling you for most of the evening, Scott Hogan is on the verge of a move from Brentford to Aston Villa.

A penny for his thoughts now, please?
