A highly satisfactory afternoon for Derby, but one for Forest fans to erase from the memory banks.

Steve McClaren told BBC Radio Derby: "I am very pleased for the supporters and I was pleased with the approach of the players; they were very relaxed.

"It took us 45 minutes to work things out, but once we did we got on top. The wide men Tom Ince and Johnny Russell got some freedom in the second half."

    Derby 3-0 Nottingham Forest

    Derby's Will Hughes celebrates goal

Job done for Derby. It was all set up for a humdinger of a second half. But the Rams put the game to bed very early on in the second period with two quick goals.

Derby are up to fifth, following seven wins from nine under Steve McClaren.

  7. Post update

    Derby 3-0 Nottingham Forest

Forest probing for some sort of very minor consolation, but Derby are having very little trouble keeping the visitors at bay.

    Derby 3-0 Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest's Eric Lichaj is cautioned as we begin four minutes of injury time.

  9. Post update

    Derby 3-0 Nottingham Forest

Less than a minute to go at Pride Park. Derby are in control and easily snuffing out any Forest threats.

  10. Post update

    Derby 3-0 Nottingham Forest

This is the dream scenario for Derby. It's all fairly straightforward for the home side. They will surely be in the play-offs come the final whistle. Forest look a beaten side.

Rams boss Steve McClaren is not relaxing yet though. He wants clean sheet number six in a row at home.

    Derby 3-0 Nottingham Forest

    Both sides make changes.

Andreas Weimann replaces Thomas Ince for Derby.

Forest bring on David Vaughan for Matty Cash.

  12. Post update

    Derby 3-0 Nottingham Forest

Pajtim Kasami has a strike at goal easily saved by Scott Carson after a swift break.

  13. Post update

    Derby 3-0 Nottingham Forest

We're entering near-miracle territory now if Forest are to get anything from this. It doesn't look likely.

Ten to go and Derby are still doing the majority of attacking.

    Derby 3-0 Nottingham Forest

    Will Hughes

Will Hughes leaves the pitch to a standing ovation. Has has been the standout player for Derby this afternoon.

    Craig Bryson comes on.

  15. Post update

    Derby 3-0 Nottingham Forest

It's nearly a fourth for Derby. More fine build-up play with Will Hughes once again at the heart of it, teeing up Thomas Ince who shoots just wide of the far post.

Derby bring on Matej Vydra, who will inject a bit more pace up top and look to exploit the space in behind.

    Darren Bent makes way.

    Derby 3-0 Nottingham Forest

Will Hughes joins the growing yellow-card gang.

    Derby 3-0 Nottingham Forest

Forest bring on Hilderberto Periera for Thomas Lam. He's always bright and lively. Can he spark the most unlikely of comebacks? There are still 20 minutes left.

    Derby 3-0 Nottingham Forest

Matty Cash becomes the sixth man in the book this afternoon. The fourth for Forest.

The visitors are getting frustrated. Will we see a red card? These games often produce one.

  20. GOAL (Hughes)

    Derby 3-0 Nottingham Forest

    Will Hughes celebrates goal

Just as I was typing how influential Will Hughes was becoming the Derby midfielder has surely wrapped up the points.

The finish is a simple one, tapping into the net after Vladimir Stojkovic had saved from Johnny Russell.

But the quality in the build up play by Hughes was obvious. He's dictating play now.
