  1. Good night

    FT: Dundee Utd 1-0 Hibernian

That's all folks. Thanks for your company on a good night for Dundee United. The Terrors are now level on points with Hibs at the top of the Championship.

Ray McKinnon's side go to Ayr United next weekend, with Hibs at home to Dumbarton.

We'll be back tomorrow for a busy day in the Premiership, starting with the lunchtime kick-off at Fir Park, where Celtic are the visitors.

Oh well, that settles the Hibs penalty debate. Not sure why Grant Holt was so angry at the spot-kick. Would that have unsettled Martin Boyle? Either way, there may well be someone else on penalty duty next week.

  3. 'Two big moments in the game'

Hibernian manager Neil Lennon on BBC Sportsound

"The result is disappointing. The game hinged on two moments. If we score the penalty, I think we go on and win the game.

"Martin (Boyle) was the designated penalty taker and he normally hits them well. Grant missed his last one.

"The game was pretty even but I thought we were the superior team in the second half."

  4. United boss thrilled with victory

Dundee Utd manager Ray McKinnon on BBC Sportsound

"I thought the guys were fantastic start to finish and it keeps the momentum going.

"Cammy Bell has saved a few penalties this season and we had every confidence in him. Fair play to Simon Murray, he's got a great work ethic and understands it's a team effort. He was disappointed not to start but he came on and won us the game.

"At the start of the season we were fragmented but the squad has settled and we're delighted to be sitting top of the league with Hibs.

"We just need to keep moving forward and we could certainly do with one or two more in the January transfer window."

On balance, United probably deserved the win since they were marginally more menacing in the final third. But it could all of been so different if Martin Boyle had tucked away that second-half spot-kick. There might be an inquest in the away dressing room since it looked like Grant Holt was the designated penalty-taker.

"If I was Martin Boyle, I'd be staying out of Grant Holt's way," says BBC Sportsound pundit Simon Donnelly.

  6. FULL-TIME Dundee Utd 1-0 Hibernian

Dundee United move level on points with Hibs at the top of the Championship thanks to Tony Andreu's penalty - and Martin Boyle's missed spot-kick.

Hibs huffing and puffing and getting nowhere.

  11. Post update

    Dundee Utd 1-0 Hibernian

Stewart Murdoch makes his presence felt with a cynical trip on a galloping Andrew Shinnie. A booking for the United substitute.

Hibs replace centre-half Liam Fontaine with full-back Neal Eardley.

  12. Post update

    Dundee Utd 1-0 Hibernian

A brief technical fault on the BBC Radio Scotland airwaves as Jason Cummings catches a sweet shot from 25 yards but it arrows straight into the arms of goalie Cammy Bell.

  13. Post update

    Dundee Utd 1-0 Hibernian

Andrew Shinnie slides a lovely disguised pass into the path of Jason Cummings but Mark Durnan gets his considerable frame in the way as the Hibs striker pulls the trigger.

  14. Post update

    Dundee Utd 1-0 Hibernian

Hibs remove holding midfielder Marvin Bartley and throw on lanky striker Brian Graham. Route One anyone?

United respond by introducing Stewart Murdoch, with Blair Spittal ambling off.

  15. Post update

    Dundee Utd 1-0 Hibernian

Lewis Toshney is booked for an ugly tackle on Lewis Stevenson. He's lucky that he wasn't cautioned earlier when giving away the penalty Hibs missed. Not sure why he wasn't, come to think of it...

  16. Post update

    Dundee Utd 1-0 Hibernian

The hosts have been enlivened by that goal and the pace of substitute Simon Murray. Hibs are looking flat.

  17. GOAL Dundee Utd 1-0 Hibernian

    Tony Andreu

That's how to take a penalty. Calmly slotted into the corner by Tony Andreu, with the keeper going the other way.

    Tony Andreu scores

Simon Murray drives into the penalty area and is stopped by Liam Fontaine - illegally says referee Bobby Madden.

The Hibs defender is booked. He kind of stood on the ball and went through the back of Murray at the same time.

  19. Post update

Andrew Shinnie dives in a corner for Paul Hanlon to meet at the back post but Mark Durnan gets in a good challenge on the Hibs defender to deny him a sight of goal.

Now United make a change up top, with Simon Murray on for Nick van der Velden.
