  1. Goodnight. Do sleep tight.

    FT: Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

Anyway, Brighton boss Chris Hughton and Aston Villa's Steve Bruce can both sleep soundly (see 2156). Their teams drew 1-1 at the Amex tonight and both of them are safe in their jobs.

Football is full of surprises but if one of them gets their marching orders then we have gone way beyond surprise.

Here's the link to the match report.

    Goodnight. Thanks for reading.

  2. Where are the most dangerous places to manage?

    FT: Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

Before we wrap thing up for the night, we have a bit of interesting regional reading for you.

Where are the most dangerous places in England to manage? Cue lightning crash, the hoot of an owl, rustling of some branches and a door that opens with a creak...

Anyway, it turns out that Charlton is a horror destination and Nottingham is where managers can enjoy all sorts of ways of getting sacked.

The story even comes with the management map of DOOM! (not it's actual name... but it should be).

    Sacking map

    * Charlton (7), Leeds and Leyton Orient (both 6) lead the list of clubs that have sacked the most managers, with Nottingham Forest and Notts County both dismissing five

  3. Still to come this weekend

    FT: Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

So Brighton and Aston Villa could not be separated in the first Championship match of the weekend.

Saturday's match schedule is as follows. All are 15:00 BST starts unless stated:

    • Barnsley v Wigan
    • Birmingham v Bristol City
    • Blackburn v Brentford
    • Cardiff v Huddersfield
    • Derby v Rotherham
    • Fulham v Sheffield Wednesday
    • Preston v Wolves
    • QPR v Norwich
    • Reading v Burton
    • Ipswich v Nottingham Forest (17:30)

  4. REACTION

    FT: Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

Brighton's goalscorer Glenn Murray told Sky Sports: "They are a quality side. They put us under pressure in the second half and we are happy to come out with a point. We had to work hard."

  5. REACTION

    FT: Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

It was hardly a classic but the second half provided a more than decent match.

Aston Villa's Albert Adomah told Sky Sports: "I feel we deserved a draw. The new gaffer has come in and everything has changed. We are buzzing. It was a shame we couldn’t get the winning goal."

  6. FULL-TIME

    Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

But it comes to nothing and it's honours even at the Amex.

  7. Post update

    Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

Villa on the attack in the final minute....

  8. Post update

    Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

Normal time done and dusted. It's all gone a bit frantic now. Brighton's Lewis Dunk goes into the book for a late challenge. Two mins of stoppage time to play.

  9. Post update

    Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

No signs of the sides settling for a point here. Two minutes plus injury time to play. There won't be too much of that.

  10. Post update

    Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

Have Brighton weathered the storm? Aston Villa keeper Pierluigi Gollini is called into some rare action as the Seagulls break forward, making a fine low save from Jamie Murphy's strike.

  11. Post update

    Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

Albert Adomah has been at the heart of everything good about Aston Villa's attack. Jack Grealish is now bringing his talents to proceedings to share the creativity. If Villa grab a winner, it's bound to involve one of these two.

  12. Post update

    Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

The chances keep coming for Aston Villa, this time Jonathan Kodjia is denied by David Stockdale. The striker did not get a clean contact with his close-range header and his effort is tipped over.

Anthony Knockaert has lasted 80 mins but is replaced by Oliver Norwood.

  14. Post update

    Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

The corners are totting up for Aston Villa now. Into double figures and each one is looking threatening. Brighton just cannot relieve the pressure.

  15. Post update

    Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

And again Jack Grealish almost puts Aston Villa ahead.

This time he shows some nifty skills before another curling strike is deflected wide. It really is all Villa now.

  16. Post update

    Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

Aston Villa go close twice in a minute.

Jack Grealish curls an effort wide following a corner and Jonathan Kodjia's effort clips the top of the bar.

  17. SUBSTITUTION

    Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

Brighton are second best at the moment so it's time for a change. Sam Baldock is off so Jamie Murphy has the chance to make an impact.

  18. Post update

Albert Adomah forces a decent low save from David Stockdale. Jordan Ayew and Jack Grealish, who has has just come on for Gary Gardner, are already making a difference to Aston Villa's attack.

  19. Post update

    Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

A shot. Not on target. But still a shot. Aston Villa's Ashley Westwood cuts in from the right but shoots well off target.
