  1. Goodnight

    FT: Hamilton 1-0 Aberdeen

So two pretty contrasting views on the all-important penalty decision that ultimately decided the match.

Martin Canning believes Willie Collum was right to penalise Anthony O'Connor for a foul in the box on Alex D'Acol, but his Aberdeen counterpart Derek McInnes is firm in his belief that it was the wrong call.

When all said and done it's Hamilton who emerge with the three points, just their second league win of the season. They'll be feeling good when they look at the Premiership table tonight to see they are riding high in the top six - for 24 hours at least.

Aberdeen miss the chance to move within a point of Celtic, and remain four points off the leaders having played two games more. They'll be targeting a win when the sides meet on Saturday at Pittodrie to keep pace in the title race.

Before that though there are five Premiership matches tomorrow night. Dundee host Partick Thistle, Kilmarnock face Hearts, Motherwell play Inverness, Rangers take on St Johnstone and Ross County go up against Celtic.

Thanks for your company and contributions this evening.

    Goodnight.

  2. 'The softest penalty you'll see'

    FT: Hamilton 1-0 Aberdeen

"Having seen it again, it's not a penalty kick. It's the softest penalty you'll see. I'm just really disappointed that was given. The referee has got a good view of it.

"D'Acol has leaned into Anthony, Anthony's trying to get his hands up to show there's no contact and he's thrown himself (to the ground). He's backed in and maybe expecting contact but there's nothing there. It's not a penalty kick. Extremely disappointing because I think it gives the home team that lift.

"We're bemoaning the fact that we maybe haven't got a penalty kick ourselves and not made more of the opportunities."

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes on BBC Radio Scotland

  3. 'I thought it was a penalty'

    FT: Hamilton 1-0 Aberdeen

"I thought it was (a penalty). I thought he pulled him to ground. I know in the second-half Derek (McInnes) and his staff were shouting for quite a few, maybe it's bias but I didn't see much in the ones they were shouting for. But I totally understand that once the referee has given one you get behind it and try and encourage him to give one for your team as well. But I thought the one that he gave was a penalty."

Hamilton manager Martin Canning on BBC Radio Scotland

"That was a barnstormer of a game."

  5. 'Hamilton's work-rate secures the win'

    Hamilton 1-0 Aberdeen

    Richard Wilson

BBC Scotland at New Douglas Park

Aberdeen cranked up the pressure in the closing stages, and with the final kick of the ball they might have equalised, but Andrew Consider slashed his effort over from Johnny Hayes cross.

Even so, Hamilton will feel their work-rate, application and focus was enough to earn the three points, since they laid down a challenge to Aberdeen to try to overcome them.

  6. FULL-TIME

    Hamilton 1-0 Aberdeen

Hamilton have one last frightening moment as Andrew Considine is presented with a chance inside the box but sidefoots high and wide.

Willie Collum blows the whistle and Accies secure just their second Premiership victory of the season. They move into the top six.

  7. Post update

    Hamilton 1-0 Aberdeen

Andrew Considine flicks on a long ball and for a moment it looks like it will drop to Adam Rooney but Gary Woods is out quickly to snuff out the danger.

  8. SUBSTITUTION

    Hamilton 1-0 Aberdeen

A stoppage time substitution as Ali Crawford goes off to be replaced by Louis Longridge.

  9. Post update

    Hamilton 1-0 Aberdeen

Four minutes of added time at New Douglas Park....

  10. Post update

    Hamilton 1-0 Aberdeen

The minutes are slipping away from Aberdeen and they don't look particularly like finding an equaliser at the moment.

  11. Post update

    Hamilton 1-0 Aberdeen

Shay Logan fires a cross from the right flank which finds Anthony O'Connor up from the back but he gets his header all wrong and the ball sails harmlessly over.

  12. Post update

    Hamilton 1-0 Aberdeen

"I thought Accies would have died a death by now but they haven't. Their work rate is phenomenal."

    BBC Sportsound summariser Derek Ferguson

  13. SUBSTITUTION

    Hamilton 1-0 Aberdeen

Martin Canning makes his second switch with Danny Redmond coming on for Greg Docherty.

  14. CLOSE!

    Hamilton 1-0 Aberdeen

Accies could and maybe should have doubled their lead.

Darian MacKinnon robs Graeme Shinnie of possession in midfield. He strides forwards and slips a pass to Ali Crawford in the penalty area. Crawford cleverly tees up Grant Gilliespie with a back heel but his shot is straight down the throat of Joe Lewis.

Big chance. Will Hamilton live to regret passing it up?

  17. CLOSE!

    Hamilton 1-0 Aberdeen

Gramoz Kurtaj spins and sends a clever ball through to Greg Docherty.

He fires a strike on goal but the angle is against him and Joe Lewis saves.

Had he looked up he would have seen Dougie Imrie steaming in at the back post awaiting a cut-back that would have left him with an empty net to tap in to.

  18. Post update

    Hamilton 1-0 Aberdeen

Aberdeen have been utterly dominant in terms of possession and territory since the break but they've lacked a little bit of quality in the final third.

Still plenty of time to get back into this match though, and as we have seen on several occasions this season Hamilton are not always the best at seeing out games in which they are leading.

  19. Post update

    Hamilton 1-0 Aberdeen

    Richard Wilson

BBC Scotland at New Douglas Park

Aberdeen have been more assertive since the interval, although they have accumulated more penalty claims than clear chances on goal.

Derek McInnes has played his hand now, bringing on all three subs at once, to provide pace and attacking intent in the presence of Niall McGinn, Peter Paulette and Miles Storey.

Hamilton's back three has been well screened by the fiercely competitive Darian Mackinnon and Greg Docherty, and that work will be increasing important in the closing quarter of the game

  20. Post update

"Can you substitute the referee? He's completely lost control of this game."
