  1. Goodbye

    FT: Birmingham 1-1 Aston Villa

    David Davis

From a neutral's point of view, that game was a genuinely enthralling spectacle.

Birmingham midfielder David Davis cancelled out Gary Gardner's earlier excellent header to earn his side a share of the spoils, and both sets of fans will now go into work on Monday and debate who should have won.

Read all about the match in Ged Scott's report, but for now, it's goodbye and thanks for following.

  2. Post update

    FT: Birmingham 1-1 Aston Villa

Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett tells Sky Sports: "I thought there was only one team that looked like they would win the game.

"We've had most of the ball, most of the pressure. I think it's unfair on us. I'm absolutely so proud of the players in a local derby to play with that intensity in the whole game.

"I think if any neutral was watching they'd say Birmingham looked like they wanted to win more."

  3. Match reaction

    FT: Birmingham 1-1 Aston Villa

Aston Villa goalscorer Gary Gardner tells Sky Sports: "It's a massive game for all of us. Both teams worked their socks off and the result showed that.

"We've been working hard all week to get a result and we've done that. Steve Bruce has made a massive impact."

With the boos still ringing out as the teams leave the field, Villa fans start singing that Blues boss Gary Rowett "is one of our own".

He is rumoured to be a boyhood Villan and does nothing to scotch rumours by smiling and acknowledging the Villa fans' chanting.

  6. Where are we now?

    FT: Birmingham 1-1 Aston Villa

So where does that leave both teams in the Championship table?

Birmingham are seventh and outside the play-off places on goal difference, while Villa are 15th.

  7. Match reaction

    FT: Birmingham 1-1 Aston Villa

Birmingham goalscorer David Davis tells Sky Sports: "I've never played in anything quite like it.

"It means a lot because I've got my family and friends here, so it was nice to get the equaliser.

"You can see how much it means to both teams."

  8. Post update

    FT: Birmingham 1-1 Aston Villa

    Robbie Savage

Ex-Wales midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

It's been a good derby but Birmingham will be disappointed that they haven't got all three points. They should have won the game - they had enough chances.

I've been disappointed with Aston Villa in an attacking sense but it's another good point for Steve Bruce.

  9. FULL-TIME

    Birmingham 1-1 Aston Villa

    David Davis

It finishes even at St Andrew's.

  10. Post update

    Birmingham 1-1 Aston Villa

Nothing. Referee Mike Dean spots an infringement in the box and Birmingham win a free-kick.

  11. Post update

    Birmingham 1-1 Aston Villa

    Gabby Agbonlahor

Not yet. Villa forward Gabby Agbonlahor wins a free-kick from a similar position to Gary Gardner's earlier goal. What can they do with this?

  12. Post update

    Birmingham 1-1 Aston Villa

Michael Morrison pumps a long ball forward to Lukas Jutkiewicz, but it is too long for his Blues team-mate. Is that it?

  13. Post update

    Birmingham 1-1 Aston Villa

The atmosphere seems to have subdued after that nasty injury to Rhoys Wiggins. Can either side gives their fans something to really celebrate the final few minutes? It's Birmingham that are doing all the pressing.

  14. Post update

    Birmingham 1-1 Aston Villa

An absolute scramble ensues from the resulting corner, with Jacques Maghoma almost getting a shot away, but Villa manage to win a free-kick out of the situation.

  15. Post update

    Birmingham 1-1 Aston Villa

    Rhoys Wiggins

Rhoys Wiggins is taken off to a huge St Andrew's ovation with his left leg not looking in a good way.

Paul Robinson is on. What a time to come into a derby...

  16. Post update

    Birmingham 1-1 Aston Villa

It looked to be a fairly standard coming together between Rhoys Wiggins and Rudy Gestede on the edge of the area, but the stretcher comes on for the Blues left-back.

Paul Robinson is poised to come on for the final few minutes for Birmingham.

  17. Post update

    Birmingham 1-1 Aston Villa

Gabby Agbonlahor loses out in a battle with Jacques Maghoma in the Birmingham half, and then needs to go off the field for a facial injury.

We've got five minutes of added time and Birmingham full-back Rhoys Wiggins' deflected effort squeezes just past the post.

However, he receives a blow for his troubles and is down for treatment.

  18. Post update

    Birmingham 1-1 Aston Villa

End-to-end stuff at St Andrew's as Jacques Maghoma loses the ball on the edge of the Villa box, before the visitors go up the other end, only for Gary Gardner to pass up a shooting opportunity and instead losing the ball.

Still lots of noise being made.

  19. SUBSTITUTION

    Birmingham 1-1 Aston Villa

Rudy Gestede scored in Villa's League Cup win over Birmingham last season and Steve Bruce is hoping for another winner today, as he comes off the bench in place of midfielder Ashley Westwood.

  20. Post update

    Birmingham 1-1 Aston Villa

Birmingham go close again, this time through both Michael Morrison and Ryan Shotton.

A corner is swung in towards Morrison, whose header is cleared as far as Shotton and from five yards out the defender can only scoop the ball over the bar.
