  1. Goodnight

    FT: Preston 1-0 Wigan

So Jordan Hugill's first-half goal gifted Preston all three points against Wigan and what a turnaround from Simon Grayson's side.

From losing 5-0 to Brentford less than a week ago, to taking apart Premier League side Bournemouth in the EFL Cup on Tuesday to tonight's victory, the Lillywhites have changed their fortunes.

On the other hand, Wigan could end the weekend bottom of the Championship table depending on how Blackburn and Cardiff get on this weekend.

That's all from us, however. Remember we have a huge line-up of sport this weekend, including the PDC Champions League of Darts, live on the BBC.

Thank you very much for joining us.

  2. FT: Preston 1-0 Wigan

Preston goalscorer Jordan Hugill told Sky Sports:

"The gaffer's put me in this season and I've been patient this year and when I got my chance I was ready to take it.

"I've had two goals in three starts and I'm really pleased with how I'm doing. The result is more important tonight."

Preston's Tom Clarke told Sky Sports:

"[The 5-0 defeat by Brentford] was a difficult result for us. We felt we started really well and the last 15 minutes was just not us or what we're about.

"We went back to the drawing board the day after and worked on the training pitch and we're pleased on how we've come out the other side."

  3. FT: Preston 1-0 Wigan

And referee Oliver Langford has blown the final whistle and Preston have won against Wigan. How big will this three points be come the end of the season?

Adam Bodgan saves at point-blank range from Aiden McGeady late on but Jordan Hugill's deflected effort was all that separated the sides.

Preston move up a place to 18th in the Championship table while Wigan remain 22nd and are winless in their last seven games.

  4. Preston 1-0 Wigan

There will be four additional minutes to play. 13,077 are in attendance tonight, the highest at Deepdale this season and the home contingent are in fine voice.

Are they heading for a third victory of their Championship campaign?

  5. Preston 1-0 Wigan

That is a terrific save from Chris Maxwell. He stays rooted to the middle of the goal and catches Jordi Gomez's flying free-kick.

At the other end, Preston substitute Ben Pearson goes on a solo run into the Wigan box but his shot goes narrowly wide.

    Game on!

  6. Preston 1-0 Wigan

It's just not Wigan's night, is it?

Nick Powell win the ball with a neat one-two in midfield but lets fly a wayward shot that fails to trouble Preston keeper Chris Maxwell.

  7. Preston 1-0 Wigan

Nathan Byrne has come off for Wigan while Craig Davies has arrived as the visitors try to rescue a point.

  9. Preston 1-0 Wigan

Preston make their first change of the night. Paul Gallagher makes way for Daniel Johnson. Meanwhile Ben Pearson comes on for Simon Makienok.

  10. Preston 1-0 Wigan

Will Grigg stretches to receive the ball from Stephen Warnock but the ball bounces off his foot and out for a Preston goal kick.

It's just not his night, tonight. Time is running out for Gary Caldwell's side.

  11. Preston 1-0 Wigan

    Gary Caldwell

David Perkins goes into the book for Wigan as he fouls Jordan Hugill whose free kick goes straight into the wall.

We're entering the final stages soon and Wigan need to act quickly if they are to get anything out of this game.

    Preston 1-0 Wigan

Wigan are back in this and what a ball in from Will Grigg. He delivers from out wide and Nathan Byrne has two bites of the cherry. His first shot is saved by the legs of Preston keeper Chris Maxwell and the Wigan man fires at the post on his second.

There's still life in Wigan yet. Can they equalise?

  13. Preston 1-0 Wigan

Wigan make their second change of the night as Michael Jacobs is replaced by David Perkins.

    Bobby George

Well will you look at this. Some absolutely stunning efforts here.

    Matthew Emason: David Busst

Ross Adam: Juan hundred and eighty Mata

    Andy White: Ray Jocky Wilson

    Richard Peacock: Bobby George Weah.

Phil Shepka: Vincent van der Vorm.

I can't help but be pleased the worlds of darts and football have been brought together like this.

  15. Preston 1-0 Wigan

Paul Gallagher's corner flies into the box and several Preston players try their luck to no avail.

The hosts work the ball back to the face of goal but Tom Clarke can't hit the target as he heads just wide of the post.

Preston looking good for a second if they keep up this pressure.

  18. Preston 1-0 Wigan

    Alex Baptiste

Preston full back Alex Baptiste has just won the ball just outside the 18-yard line and scuffed an effort on goal that wouldn't have troubled Wigan keeper Adam Bogdan in a month of Sundays.

The hosts come back for me and Bogdan pulls off a superb save to deny Jordan Hugill his second goal of the night.

Wigan get the second half under way.
