    FT: Aston Villa 1-1 Brentford

Jordan C: Can we just play 80 minute games in future. Getting sick of this.

Charlie Radclyffe: this issue with villa is one of confidence. Sadly, not even for £50m can you buy that!

    Brentford fans seem happy, however...

Jamie Smith: Great effort, great result, dominated the second half and could have won, well done Brentford superb!

Debbie Fewster: Get in there Brentford great result, 2 tough away games on the trot & 4 points in the bag.

  4. 'Villa were short of ideas'

    FT: Aston Villa 1-1 Brentford

    Ged Scott

    BBC Sport at Villa Park

    Roberto di Matteo

"You can't say Brentford don't deserve that. Villa have been short on ideas since Ross McCormack went off at half-time and have never shaken the Bees off.

"Ryan Woods was superb in the centre of midfield for Brentford and Sullay Kaikai, creator of the goal, gave them the cutting edge they were missing after he came on."

Ben Revell: I won't be able to endure these matches every week so nervous

    You're not alone, Ben.

    Aston Villa 1-1 Brentford

Boos echo around Villa Park as Brentford hold Aston Villa to a 1-1 draw.

Late goals have been the undoing of Roberto Di Matteo's Aston Villa so far this season.

Sheffield Wednesday struck late to win on the opening day of the season, Huddersfield snatched a point in August, Nottingham Forest did a smash and grab on Sunday and now Brentford share the spoils thanks to John Egan's 88th-minute leveller.

  7. Post update

    Aston Villa 1-1 Brentford

Eyes fix on the clock now. Less than two minutes remaining.

Can Villa hold on to at least take a point. Brentford finishing strong.

    Rotherham 2-2 Nottm Forest

    Nicklas Bendtner

Twice in the space of five days Rotherham draw 2-2 at the New York Stadium having led.

A fair result on balance? As with the match against Bristol City, the stats again suggest the away side had the better of the game - 63% possession, 22 shots at goal, but the scoreline is level.

  9. Post update

    Aston Villa 1-1 Brentford

We are into five minutes of added time and Brentford are after maximum points now, Ryan Woods testing Villa goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini. Cracking effort from 25 yards, that by Woods.

  10. GOAL: Aston Villa 1-1 Brentford

    John Egan

This is becoming a bit of a broken record for Villa, a late goal seems to have shattered hearts.

John Egan fires in at the far post, smashing home as he meets a deep Sullay Kaikai cross which seems to take a deflection on the way in.

  11. Post update

    Aston Villa 1-0 Brentford

    Aston Villa

Nervous feeling around Villa Park with five minutes remaining.

A late goal cost the hosts victory three days ago against Nottingham Forest.

Jonathan Kodjia looks the most likely to put this game to bed, but he fails to race onto a tantalising ball from Jordan Ayew.

  12. Post update

    Rotherham 2-2 Nottm Forest

There will be seven minutes of injury time. I repeat, seven whole minutes.

    Will there be a winner?

    Aston Villa 1-0 Brentford

Roberto di Matteo goes to the bench for the final time.

Rudy Gestede comes off and Gary Gardner is on for Aston Villa. Just eight minutes remaining.

Brentford also with the last of their replacements - Nico Yennaris makes way for Josh McEachran.

  14. GOAL: Rotherham 2-2 Nottm Forest

    Jon Taylor

Rotherham United have an instant equaliser! Straight from the restart the hosts break, and Jon Taylor curls in his second goal of the night to make it 2-2.

Oh goodness me - and within 60 seconds Nicklas Bendtner almost has a debut goal too, his header coming off the post.

The match at the New York Stadium has come to life.

    Aston Villa 1-0 Brentford

A weave, bob and shot from Jonathan Kodjia forces Daniel Bentley into a save. Well held. Strong stuff.

  16. GOAL: Rotherham 1-2 Nottm Forest

    Abostolos Vellios

    Nottingham Forest goal

    Wow. Just wow.

I asked if Nottingham Forest could make the man advantage count, after Darnell Fisher's red card a few moments ago, and they do so in spectacular fashion.

Greek striker Abostolos Vellios produces a superb over-head kick from 10 yards out to beat Lee Camp and turn this Championship contest on its head.

    Aston Villa 1-0 Brentford

Brentford with their second change, Lewis Macleod making way for Lasse Vibe.

  18. RED CARD (Fisher)

    Rotherham 1-1 Nottm Forest

Now then, this could get interesting.

Darnell Fisher receives a second yellow card for a foul on Ben Osborn, and so Rotherham will play the final seven minutes plus stoppage time with 10 men.

Can Nottingham Forest make it count?

  19. Post update

    Aston Villa 1-0 Brentford

Jonathan Kodjia has a bite at second goal, but is just off target.

Jordan Ayew with a fizzing delivery, but Kodjia guides it wide.

Moments later, Ayew has a crack himself but his shot was always rising over the bar.

  20. YELLOW CARD (Woods)

    Aston Villa 1-0 Brentford

    Ryan Woods

Brentford's Ryan Woods makes his way into the referee's book for a challenge on Jordan Amavi with 20 minutes remaining.
