Quote Message: Irrespective of the scoreline, Brentford can hurt you. There are so many good teams in this division. We've got good experience and a mix of younger ones as well. from Chris Hughton Brighton manager on Sky Sports

  3. Rhodes v Rovers at the Riverside

    Saturday's Championship action

    Jordan Rhodes

When you sell your star striker for £9m, probably the last thing you want is to be coming up against him five days later.

That's what awaits Blackburn Rovers tomorrow, as Jordan Rhodes is poised to make his Middlesbrough debut against the club he left on deadline day.

"That's the way it is but if involved on Saturday I'll give my all in a red shirt," Scotland international Rhodes told BBC Tees.

  5. FT: Brighton 3-0 Brentford

    Tomer Hemed

That makes it three wins in a row for Brighton and the Seagulls have the added bonus of Anthony Knockaert's first goal for the club and Tomer Hemed ending his 10-game goal drought, which stretched back to early December.

  6. FT: Brighton 3-0 Brentford

Quote Message: It has been a good time for me since I have been here. I am really happy. I could have scored more but the three points was the most important thing. from Anthony Knockaert Brighton winger on Sky Sports

  7. FULL-TIME

    Brighton 3-0 Brentford

Keith Stroud blows the whistle and Brighton go third in the table with their biggest win of the season. Brentford stay eight points off the play-offs.

  8. GOAL

    Brighton 3-0 Brentford (Murphy)

Brighton get their third of the evening and it has been coming.

The Bees have been pushing forward to get back in the game and one ball from the centre circle from Andrew Crofts releases Jamie Murphy, who shoots across David Button into the bottom corner.

  9. Brighton 2-0 Brentford

The match sponsors at the Amex go for Anthony Knockaert as man of the match.

Not much between him and Jamie Murphy tonight - both have been central to Brighton's likely victory.

  10. Brighton 2-0 Brentford

    Another Brentford attack breaks down.

The fourth official indicates four minutes of added time.

  11. Brighton 2-0 Brentford

Anthony Knockaert and Tomer Hemed have got Brighton's goals this evening, but BBC Sussex's Warren Aspinall has picked Jamie Murphy as man of the match...

Quote Message: He's had an excellent game despite not scoring. He's been a thorn in the full-back's side. from Warren Aspinall Ex-Brighton striker, BBC Sussex

  12. Brighton 2-0 Brentford

Brentford back in possession and are trying to get the ball in the Brighton box without much success.

  13. Brighton 2-0 Brentford

A last-ditch challenge from Yoann Barbet denies James Wilson Brighton's third.

The on-loan Manchester Untied man took too long over his shot, and could even have found unmarked team-mate Jamie Murphy in the middle.

Brighton are content to pick their moments on the counter-attack.

  14. Brighton 2-0 Brentford

    Brighton v Brentford

The sting has gone out of Brentford's midfield play in the last few minutes, and a few passing errors have crept in.

Brighton should be able to see this one through...

  15. Brighton 2-0 Brentford

Brighton come to within inches of making it 3-0 and wrapping up the game.

Jamie Murphy's low cross from the left is just in front of a diving Anthony Knockaert, who can't connect.

Shades of Gazza at Euro 96 against Germany, but far less crucial or heartbreaking.

  16. Brighton 2-0 Brentford

    And we've another landmark substitution.

Lewis Macleod comes on for his Brentford debut, more than a year after he joined the Bees.

Injuries since his arrival at Griffin Park from Rangers mean tonight is only his second appearance on the bench.

  17. Brighton 2-0 Brentford

Brentford play themselves into danger as Harlee Dean tries to clear David Button's pass but James Wilson can't take advantage, committing a foul in the process.

Matt Haslett: Sorry Danny (see 21:15), in Barrie. Toronto for a beer one day?

Canadian geography isn't my strong point, but a quick web search suggests there's about 400 miles between Montreal and Barrie.

  19. Brighton 2-0 Brentford

Brighton are forced into a final substitution and bring on January signing Steve Sidwell for Beram Kayal.

The 33-year-old had loan spells at both these clubs when he was a youngster at Arsenal.

His last appearance for Brighton came on 11 January 2003 in a goalless draw at Coventry.

Here's a picture of Sidwell from his first spell with the Seagulls. Just, you know, just because.

    Steve Sidwell
  20. Brighton 2-0 Brentford

A worry for Brighton as Sergi Canos gets on the end of a long ball forward. Brighton recover but a clearance cannons off a Brentford shirt and back to Canos.

However the Spaniards second effort from the angle bobbles away harmlessly across goal.

    Nervy moments for Seagulls fans.
