    Sean O'Driscoll

That's all from the Amex this lunchtime, but have no fear, we've got more Football League action on BBC Sport on Sunday from 11:45 GMT.

Sean O'Driscoll takes charge of Walsall for the first time as the Saddlers host Port Vale in League One (12:00 GMT).

Once that game finishes, our live text commentary will focus on the day's three Championship fixtures...

    • Sheffield Wednesday v Wolves (14:00 GMT)
    • Leeds v Preston (15:00 GMT)
    • Reading v Blackburn (15:00 GMT)

  3. FT: Brighton 0-3 Middlesbrough

Brighton's unbeaten run finally goes. Middlesbrough go three points clear at the top ahead of this afternoon's other games.

  4. FT: Brighton 0-3 Middlesbrough

    Jason Roberts

Ex-West Brom striker on BBC Radio 5 live

Quote Message: Aitor Karanka hasn't shouted and screamed, he's been calm throughout and you can be when you've got a team that's only conceded 12 goals in the league. Chris Hughton will be disappointed with the way Brighton have gone about this game, but they need to maintain their focus because this is a team that could come very close to promotion.

    Brighton 0-3 Middlesbrough

And that is that at the Amex.

    A superb display from Middlesbrough.

  6. Brighton 0-3 Middlesbrough

Christian Stuani gets one last effort in on goal for Middlesbrough from distance and David Stockdale is down to his right to save it.

  7. Brighton 0-3 Middlesbrough

Three minutes added on at the end of the 90.

The punishment is almost over for Brighton....

  8. Brighton 0-3 Middlesbrough

More joy on the faces of the travelling supporters, including a guy dressed as a donkey.

No sign of Joseph and Mary though...

    Into the last minute.

  9. Brighton 0-3 Middlesbrough

Some despondent looking faces in the crowd among the Brighton fans. Made all the more exaggerated by them wearing seasonal outfits.

They've been given a bit of a lesson here today by Middlesbrough.

The Boro fans, meanwhile, have an enjoyable 315-mile trip home.

  10. Brighton 0-3 Middlesbrough

Jose Mourinho will no doubt be thrilled for his old friend Aitor Karanka in this one.

The Special One's seen enough and is off out the ground to beat the queues on the A27.

    Brighton 0-3 Middlesbrough

Last change for Boro as Adam Clayton gets a rousing round of applause from the visiting supporters and Manchester City loanee Bruno Zuculini comes on.

  12. Jimmy Hill dies aged 87

More tributes and memories can be found here.

  13. Brighton 0-3 Middlesbrough

More than 26,000 at the Amex watching this one according to the attendance just announced.

The majority are going to see Brighton lose a league game for the first time this season.

Around about 1,300 have made the long trip down from Teeside for an early Christmas present.

  14. Brighton 0-3 Middlesbrough

Albert Adomah fells Rajiv van La Parra on the right as Brighton look for some magic.

Free-kick is poor though and once more Boro can deal with the threat.

  15. Brighton 0-3 Middlesbrough

Half sight of goal for Bobby Zamora as he meets a cross from the right.

But, his header has little power on goal and Middlesbrough clear with ease.

    Brighton 0-3 Middlesbrough

Double change for Brighton as midfielder Andrew Crofts comes on for Jamie Murphy and Tomer Hemed makes way for Bobby Zamora.

Middlesbrough switch Emilio Nsue for Tomas Kalas.

  17. Brighton 0-3 Middlesbrough

Coming up to nine hours since Middlesbrough last conceded a goal.

Brighton still not looking like the team who will break that.

  18. Brighton 0-3 Middlesbrough

Jason's not wrong there. Boro have dominated this one, right from the kick-off.

The defensive record speaks for itself really. Aitor Karanka's side heading for a fifth win in six games.

  19. Brighton 0-3 Middlesbrough

    Jason Roberts

Ex-West Brom striker on BBC Radio 5 live

Quote Message: It's an excellent performance from Middlesbrough - one of the best Championship performances I've seen for a long time.
    Daniel Ayala
  20. Brighton 0-3 Middlesbrough

They say silence is golden, but not in this case around the Amex where you can almost hear a pin drop now among the home fans.

A pocket of Boro fans pierce the silence as they are bouncing and heading to the Championship summit at Christmas.

    Brighton 0-3 Middlesbrough

Boro make a first change and it's their first goalscorer Kike being replaced by Diego Fabbrini.

  22. GOAL (Stuani)

    Brighton 0-3 Middlesbrough

    Cristhian Stuani

But it doesn't stay 2-0 for long....

Corner isn't cleared by Brighton and Kike floats a ball across to the back post where Cristhian Stuani nods it in ahead of his defensive partner Daniel Ayala.

Surely that's it for Brighton's long unbeaten record?

  23. Brighton 0-2 Middlesbrough

More superb goalkeeping from David Stockdale keeps it at 2-0 to Boro.

Adam Clayton hits a dipping right-foot volley from 30 yards out after the corner breaks to him.

    Tipped behind for another.

  24. Brighton 0-2 Middlesbrough

    Brighton 0-2 Middlesbrough

Change for the hosts as Connor Goldson replaces Uwe Huenemeier.

The central defender going off with a knock.

  26. Brighton 0-2 Middlesbrough

Tomer Hemed's first real sniff of a shot on goal goes well wide.

But the ball comes back to Jamie Murphy for Brighton on his right, 12 yards out and Dimi Konstantopoulos is there to tip it over the bar.

  27. Brighton 0-2 Middlesbrough

Shots on the television of Bobby Zamora on the Brighton bench. In a hat believe it or not despite the mild temperatures.

Think that could well be the Plan B Brighton need to go for.

  28. Jimmy Hill dies aged 87

More tributes to and memories of Jimmy Hill, who has died at the age of 87, can be found here.

  29. Brighton 0-2 Middlesbrough

Some very sad news indeed about Jimmy Hill. A true giant of the game both on and off the field.

Back at the Amex, Middlesbrough continue to keep Brighton at bay in this one.

Chris Hughton's side seeing more of the ball since the interval, but still nothing substantial in chances.

  30. BreakingJimmy Hill dies aged 87

    Jimmy Hill

Some sad football news to bring you. Jimmy Hill, one of English football's most influential figures, has died aged 87.

As chairman of the Professional Footballers' Association, he led the campaign for the scrapping of maximum wages for professional footballers.

The former Match of the Day presenter made more than 600 appearances on the programme.

His other numerous roles in football included player, manager, chairman and analyst.

  31. Brighton 0-2 Middlesbrough

Daniel Ayala goes close for Middlesbrough as he meets a half-volley on the right foot from a corner.

Great save from David Stockdale to palm it away.

  32. Brighton 0-2 Middlesbrough

Just to remind you Guus Hiddink's predecessor Jose Mourinho is watching this one....

Some early encouragement for Brighton as they see a bit more of the ball.

James Wilson makes a surging run into the area before Ben Gibson gets it clear.

  33. BreakingChelsea appoint Hiddink

Dutchman gets contract to end of season

  34. KICK-OFF

    Brighton 0-2 Middlesbrough

Teams back out on the pitch at the Amex.

Brighton need a huge 45 minutes here to get back into it....

  35. HT: Brighton 0-2 Middlesbrough

A few television replays at the break might suggest that Brighton's Inigo Calderon got the last touch on that Middlesbrough second goal.

Albert Adomah's the man who's claimed it though.

  36. Saturday's fixtures

A win or a draw here for Middlesbrough will send them top tonight.

Here are the rest of today's Championship games, which all begin at 15:00 GMT...

    Saturday fixtures
  37. Blues end wait for home win

    Friday: Birmingham 1-0 Cardiff

Friday's only Championship game saw Birmingham beat Cardiff 1-0 with a controversial penalty.

Matthew Connolly had a handball decision given against him, despite television replays appearing to show the ball hitting him in the face rather than on his arm.

Paul Caddis showed no compassion and tucked away what proved to be the winner from 12 yards.

Blues are up to seventh in the table after winning at home for the first time in two months.

    Paul Caddis
  38. HT: Brighton 0-2 Middlesbrough

Smashing stuff so far from Boro.

Before the second half, a quick reminder of what else has been happening in the Championship and what's still to come...

  40. Get Involved

    Brighton 0-2 Middlesbrough

What a first 45 minutes for Middlesbrough - kicked off in empahatic fashion by Kike.

And just before the break - Albert Adomah made things even better.

Looks like Brighton's unbeaten run could go before Christmas.

  42. Brighton 0-2 Middlesbrough

Quote Message: Middlesbrough have had two chances and scored twice. Brighton have had more possession in the half. from Warren Aspinall Former Brighton striker on BBC Sussex
Warren AspinallFormer Brighton striker on BBC Sussex
  43. Adomah doubles Middlesbrough's lead

    Brighton 0-2 Middlesbrough

    Jason Roberts

Ex-West Brom striker on BBC Radio 5 live

Quote Message: Awful defending from the set-play. Nobody is even close to Ayala. Adomah directs it towards the goal and there are four or five goals for you each season if you stand in front of the goalkeeper.
  44. GOAL (Adomah)

    Brighton 0-2 Middlesbrough

Second goal for Middlesbrough and right on the stroke of half-time.

Corner from the right comes off Daniel Ayala first before a couple of touches off Brighton heads and Albert Adomah finishes it off with a flick-on.

Big task ahead of Brighton now.

  45. Brighton 0-1 Middlesbrough

A quiet afternoon so far for Dimi Konstantopoulos.

Not had a shot to save as his back four do more sterling work in front of him.

    Dimi Konstantopoulos
  46. Brighton 0-1 Middlesbrough

More superb patience shown by Middlesbrough in defence.

They're letting Brighton get a bit flustered in and around the edge of the penalty area before waiting for a chance to clear.

No way through for the hosts so far.

  47. Brighton 0-1 Middlesbrough

Gordon Greer and Kike jump together in an aerial challenge and Kike comes off the worse from it.

The Boro striker wants some punishment for Brighton's defender but again Craig Pawson has no interest.

  48. Should Brighton have had a penalty?

    Brighton 0-1 Middlesbrough

    Jason Roberts

Ex-West Brom striker on BBC Radio 5 live

Quote Message: Great wing play by Van La Parra. Friend's not diverted his run, he's just running straight to his defensive position. There was a collision but it was no fault of anyone. In reality, it wasn't a penalty.
  49. Brighton 0-1 Middlesbrough

Rajiv van La Parra makes some ground into the Middlesbrough area down the right and clashes with George Friend before going to ground.

Referee Craig Pawson says no penalty.

  50. Brighton 0-1 Middlesbrough

    Jose Mourinho

More composed stuff here from Aitor Karanka's side as his old dugout pal Jose Mourinho watches on from the stands.

Switching it well left and right as Brighton continue to chase red shirts.

  52. Brighton 0-1 Middlesbrough

Dale Stephens takes a shot from distance for Brighton which flashes wide of the target.

Worth a go, but Brighton again having to wait for an opening as Middlesbrough keep a firm shape.

  53. Brighton 0-1 Middlesbrough

A snapshot of an earlier chance for Brighton's James Wilson which was dealt with by Middlesbrough.

    Brighton v Middlesbrough

Not many clear cut chances so far for the unbeaten Seagulls.

  54. Brighton 0-1 Middlesbrough

    Brighton v Middlesbrough

Brighton still showing a lack of composure on the ball as they try to rush it out of defence.

Long ball forward goes aimlessly out of touch.

  55. Wilson shoots wide for Brighton

    Brighton 0-1 Middlesbrough

    Jason Roberts

Ex-West Brom striker on BBC Radio 5 live

Quote Message: Wilson did a really good job of making some space, but credit to Ayala. He didn't dive in. Middlesbrough's defensive shape and individual decision-making is fantastic.
  56. Brighton 0-1 Middlesbrough

Better from the hosts as James Wilson gets a chance to run at the Boro back four.

He shifts it wide of Daniel Ayala but can't direct the shot on target.

  57. Brighton 0-1 Middlesbrough

    Poor so far from Brighton.

They try a quick free-kick on the left side, which is first blocked by the Boro wall before Beram Kayal tries a shot from distance which is almost over the South Downs and out to sea.

  58. Brighton 0-1 Middlesbrough

  59. Brighton 0-1 Middlesbrough

Oh dear. Brighton's Jamie Murphy won't want to see that again.

He's attempted to clear it with a boot over the top and has only succeeded in kicking it straight at his face!

  60. Brighton 0-1 Middlesbrough

A hush around the Amex as Middlesbrough continue to show patience on the ball.

Brighton having to stand off here as they seek a way back into the game.

    Brighton 0-1 Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough midfielder Grant Leadbitter makes an absolutely terrible attempt to win the ball in the air with Uwe Huenemeier and gets more of the player than the ball.

    In the book he goes...

  62. Brighton 0-1 Middlesbrough

An idea for you how tough it could be for Brighton to get back into this one....

    Dimi Konstantopoulos

Only Preston's Jordan Pickford can match Middlesbrough's Dimi Konstantopoulos for Championship clean sheets this season.

Boro have only conceded 12 goals in 21 league games so far this term.

  63. Brighton 0-1 Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough well and truly bossing possession once more after that early goal.

Home fans a bit restless as their side see very little of it.

  64. Brighton 0-1 Middlesbrough

Half chance for Brighton as James Wilson tries an audacious volley from Inigo Calderon's cross.

But it's blocked 12 yards out by Middlesbrough's George Friend.

  65. Brighton 0-1 Middlesbrough

Quote Message: That goal was coming for the visitors. They've had all the ball so far in the game. from Warren Aspinall Former Brighton striker on BBC Sussex
Warren AspinallFormer Brighton striker on BBC Sussex
  66. Brighton 0-1 Middlesbrough

Big test now for Brighton and their unbeaten record.

What response do Chris Hughton's men have?

  67. Brighton 0-1 Middlesbrough

  68. Kike heads Boro in front

    Brighton 0-1 Middlesbrough

    Jason Roberts

Ex-West Brom striker on BBC Radio 5 live

Quote Message: Kike scores the goal but this is all about Albert Adomah. It's far too easy for him to do two or three stepovers and get the ball into the box. A brilliant goal for Middlesbrough.
  69. GOAL (Kike)

    Brighton 0-1 Middlesbrough

Early goal goes the visitors way and a header from Middlesbrough's frontman Kike.

Superb cross from Albert Adomah on the left and it's a first goal in 16 appearances for the striker.

David Stockdale had no chance of reaching that.

  70. Brighton 0-0 Middlesbrough

    Jason Roberts

Ex-West Brom striker on BBC Radio 5 live

Quote Message: Middlesbrough are happy to have the ball and find those little pockets of space. Brighton are happy to drop in and allow Middlesbrough to have the ball when they're in good possession.
  71. Brighton 0-0 Middlesbrough

Early possession for Middlesbrough as Albert Adomah and George Friend find space down the left before cutting inside.

Low ball into the area but David Stockdale dives on it.
