  1. FT: Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

Bristol City manager Steve Cotterill tells Sky Sports: "I thought we were the better team on the night. This goalkeeper David Marshall is the best in the league by a mile. I can't believe he didn't go to a Premier League club before the end of the window - some of the saves he made tonight were top drawer."

  2. FT: Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

  3. FT: Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

Cardiff City goalkeeper David Marshall tells Sky Sports: "We're just disappointed with the way we've played. That's not been us this season - we've dominated a lot of games at home - so to come away with a point we're probably quite lucky tonight."

  4. Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

Let's bring you some full-time stats from the Cardiff City stadium, where extraordinarily the hosts failed to muster a single shot on target. As you can see, Bristol City had their fair share of opportunities to win the game

  5. FT: Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

    Aden Flint

Bristol City defender Aden Flint tells Sky Sports: "The football we played at times was great tonight. But credit to Cardiff, they gave us a good game. The gaffer keeps drilling into us that we'll be alright this year - we just need to believe in ourselves."

  6. FT: Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

That point lifts Bristol City up a place to 20th in the Championship with MK Dons slipping below them. Cardiff City remain in eighth and are now three points of the play-off places.

  7. FULL-TIME

    Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

And that's the last action of the game, Cardiff City will perhaps be the happier of the two sides with Bristol City having 20 attempts on David Marshall's goal. More stats and reaction to come.

  8. Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

We've got three minutes of injury time in Cardiff. Meanwhile, Anthony Pilkington scuffs a shot at Frank Fielding.

  9. Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

  10. CLOSE!

    Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

How has he missed that? How? Sammy Ameobi has a chance to win it at the death for Cardiff City but somehow the unmarked forward side-foots high of Frank Fielding's crossbar from close range. At the other end Jonathan Kodjia blazes just wide of the angle.

  11. HITS THE WOODWORK

    Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

Again so close for Bristol City, first David Marshall saves from Joe Bryan and then from the resulting rebound Elliott Bennett crashes a half-volley against the outside of the post.

  12. Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

Five minutes to go at the Cardiff City stadium.

  14. SUBSTITUTION

Anthony Pilkington comes on for Alex Revell in what will be Cardiff City's last change.

  15. Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

Cardiff City's Aron Gunnarsson goes down under pressure from Luke Ayling and claims a penalty but referee Craig Pawson is not interested.

  18. Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

I've done a disservice to David Marshall, who actually tipped Joe Bryan's volley onto the post. Had he not, it would have been 1-0 to Bristol City.

  19. DISALLOWED GOAL

    Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

Oh that's so close for Bristol City. Joe Bryan's side-foot volley hits the post and Jonathan Kodjia taps home at the back post but the Frenchman is offside.

  20. Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

Aron Gunnarsson finds space on right and he sends in a low cross for Joe Mason but Bristol City manage to clear behind to safety. The resulting corner is too deep.

  22. Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

Bristol City's Derrick Williams tries his luck from range but it is high and wide. A sign of frustration there from the visiting side. They just can't find an opener despite dominating possession.

  23. Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

    Cardiff City v Bristol City

Right, we've got 20 minutes to go at the Cardiff City stadium. Can anyone break the deadlock?

  24. SUBSTITUTION

    Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

Cardiff City make their second change of the evening and unsurprisingly it's an attacking one as Sammy Ameobi comes on for Craig Noone.

  25. Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

It's another Bristol City corner, this time Aden Flint heads wide under pressure from Sean Morrison.

  26. Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

    Dafydd Pritchard

BBC Sport Wales at the Cardiff City Stadium

    Luke Freeman

Cardiff City's fans have been quieter in a second half dominated by a Bristol City side growing in confidence.

The highlight for the home crowd so far has been the half-time appearance of fans' favourite and former defender Kevin McNaughton.

The Scot was presented at half-time and has decided to watch the second half in the Canton Stand, much to the delirious approval of the supporters in that section of the ground.

  27. Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

Fabio is played in on the left but his cross his cleared behind from a corner by Luke Ayling. Bristol City's defence do their job and clear Peter Whittingham's corner to safety.

  28. Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

Quote Message: As is often the case in these derby matches, you just feel that one goal either way will settle this. It may take a bit of brilliance - or it may take a slip from someone. from Adam Baker Bristol City head of media on BBC Radio Bristol
Adam BakerBristol City head of media on BBC Radio Bristol
  29. Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

Cardiff City still without a shot on target as we pass the hour mark. The Robins have enjoyed 65% of the possession since the interval. That will be a massive concern for manager Russell Slade.

  30. Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

Disappointingly for the travelling support the corner is cleared by the Bluebirds.

  31. Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

Both sides picking up the pace at the Cardiff City Stadium as the hour mark approaches. Who can break the deadlock? It's another Bristol City corner...

  32. GREAT SAVE!

    Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

    Joe Bryan

Luke Freeman picks the ball up 25 yards out and fires a rocket at David Marshall but the Cardiff City keeper palms it away at full stretch.

Moments later Joe Bryan almost connects with a cross from the right, and then an unmarked Marlon Pack heads a corner over at the near post. Should have done better.

  33. SUBSTITUTION

    Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

Meanwhile, that header from Kagisho Dikgacoi was his last involvement of the night as he is replaced by Joe Ralls. Looked like an injury for the Bluebird.

  34. YELLOW CARD

    Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

Aron Gunnarsson becomes the first player to enter Craig Pawson's book with a foul earning him a yellow card.

  35. Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

Cardiff City may have had a ticking off at half-time because they're a completely different side early in this second period.

They force a corner and from the resulting set-piece Aaron Wilbraham manages to block Kagisho Dikgacoi's downward header.

  36. CLOSE!

    Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

The first chance of the half falls Cardiff City's way, with Joe Mason heading Lee Peltier's cross just wide of Frank Fielding's far post. Better from the hosts.

  37. Second half under way

    Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

It's Bristol City who get the second half started with no changes at the break.

  40. The FA Cup is back!

HT: Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

While these two sides have been busy doing battle in Cardiff, the FA Cup first-round draw has taken place.

Thirty-two non-league sides joined 48 league clubs in the draw, with ties beginning on Friday, 6 November.

Didcot, the lowest-ranked team in the FA Cup, will play League Two's Exeter City at home in perhaps the standout tie of the round

  41. Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

    Story of the half

As you can see Bristol City have had the better of the first-half action. Cardiff City are yet to test opposition keeper Frank Fielding.

So what did we make of that first half? This Severnside derby hasn't really got going just yet, has it?

  43. HALF-TIME

    Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

And that's the last action of a half which Bristol City have shaded.

  44. GREAT SAVE!

    Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

That's absolutely sensational from David Marshall as he tips over Jonathan Kodjia's header from point-blank range. What a save. The corner is headed over by Joe Bryan.

  45. Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

It's another wasted cross from Joe Bryan, as he creates space but fails to pick out an unmarked Jonathan Kodjia at the back post and Cardiff head behind from a corner.

The resulting set-piece is again headed behind by the Bluebirds, while the follow up is wasted as Aaron Wilbraham fails to connect from 12 yards.

  46. CLOSE!

    Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

    Jonathan Kodjia

Jonathan Kodjia splits the Cardiff City defence with a clever run and decent control but after working some space the Frenchman drags a shot wide of David Marshall's left-hand post from 18 yards. The Bristol City forward has looked lively throughout though.

  47. Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

  48. Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

For a derby it's desperately quiet at the Cardiff City stadium, this game needs a goal - but then don't all 0-0's?

  49. Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

Joe Bryan is obviously still not warmed up as he wastes two decent crossing positions for Bristol City, while at the other end Joe Mason is caught offside in what has been a frustrating evening so far for the Bluebird.

  50. Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

Quote Message: That was a great period of play, both teams going for it. By the way, we're hearing from the tunnel that it is indeed a hamstring injury for Nathan Baker. from Adam Baker Bristol City head of media on BBC Radio Bristol
Adam BakerBristol City head of media on BBC Radio Bristol
  51. Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

Jonathan Kodjia does well for Bristol City up front and feeds Joe Bryan but his shot is blocked by the feet of a Cardiff City defender.

  52. Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

Bristol City are finding most joy on Cardiff's left-hand side but another cross comes to nothing as we reach the half-hour point.

  53. CLOSE!

    Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

That's so, so close for Cardiff City as Matthew Connolly heads Peter Whittingham's corner just wide of the angle at the back post. That's the closest the Bluebirds have come.

  54. Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

Peter Whittingham sends in a cross and Frank Fielding is all over the place and nowhere near it - but Bristol City head behind for a corner.

  55. SUBSTITUTION

    Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

Bristol City are forced into an early change - defender Nathan Baker has a leg injury, it looked like a hamstring problem, so Joe Bryan is introduced for Steve Cotterill's side.

  56. Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

  57. Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

    Cardiff v Bristol City

A lull in play so time for a quick stat or two. Cardiff City are without a shot on target so far, while Bristol City have had four attempts with only one needing David Marshall to get his gloves wet.

  58. Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

Elliott Bennett finds space on the right wing for Bristol City but his cross is inaccurate and just ahead of the on-rushing Jonathan Kodjia.

Bristol City eventually win back possession and win a corner, but it comes to nothing as they waste an opportunity to test David Marshall.

  59. Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

Fabio has just won a 50-50 tussle with big Aaron Wilbraham - a sentence I never thought I'd write.

  60. Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

Former Cardiff City - and England - man Trevor Sinclair is getting stuck in to the Severnside derby...

  61. Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

Jonathan Kodjia does well on the right-hand side for the visitors as he feeds Luke Freeman 35-yard out, but his shot is high and wide of the Cardiff City goal.

At the other end, Craig Noone makes a mess of an effort from the edge of the area, curling wide of Frank Fielding's goal.

  62. Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

    Dafydd Pritchard

BBC Sport Wales at the Cardiff City Stadium

    Luke Freeman

The Cardiff City Stadium has been rather quiet of late, with just 13,371 watching last Tuesday's 1-0 win against Middlesbrough - the lowest league crowd at the ground which the Bluebirds have called home since 2009.

Tonight, however, the stadium is alive with the noise of two sets of passionate fans for whom enmity is mutual.

Bristol City's travelling contingent of around 1,000 are in good voice, and their rowdiness has sparked the home supporters into life too. There is no love lost here.

  63. CLOSE!

    Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

It's another Bristol City corner, which this time sees Luke Ayling head wide from inside the six-yard box. Replays suggest the final touch was that of Fabio. Goal-kick awarded but Bristol City are pressing here.

  64. Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

Quote Message: Aaron Wilbraham was fuming with the referee there - he felt he was being pushed to the ground as he got his head to the ball. But it was a relatively comfortable save for David Marshall. from Adam Baker Bristol City head of media on BBC Radio Bristol
Adam BakerBristol City head of media on BBC Radio Bristol
  65. CLOSE!

    Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

Scrappy start to this game with Cardiff struggling to get a foothold in the game. Fabio has just wasted a chance to send a free-kick forward, and then a Bristol City corner sees Aaron Wilbraham head low to David Marshall's left.

  66. Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

Luke Freeman bursts into the Cardiff City box but it comes to nothing. Bright start from the visiting side.

  67. KICK-OFF

    Cardiff City 0-0 Bristol City

Time for a pre-match huddle from both sides, as Cardiff City get us under way in the Severnside derby.

  68. The teams are out

Cardiff City v Bristol City (19:45 GMT)

The teams have made their way onto the pitch at a disappointingly sparse Cardiff City stadium. Just a reminder - Bristol City boss Steve Cotterill names an unchanged side for the third match in a row.

  69. Hostile - on and off the pitch

Cardiff City v Bristol City (19:45 GMT)

    Dafydd Pritchard

BBC Sport Wales at the Cardiff City Stadium

Cardiff City manager Russell Slade writes in his match programme notes: “The significance of a derby is always accentuated by time apart.”

That may well be the case tonight, as Cardiff and Bristol City face each other in their first Severnside derby since 16 February 2013.

This has been a spiteful fixture in the past, hostile on and off the pitch - as former Cardiff striker Michael Chopra’s clash with ex-Bristol boss Gary Johnson in 2010 demonstrated.

The ill-feeling tends to extend to the stands too, and there is a large police presence outside the Cardiff City Stadium tonight. This could be feisty.

  71. Team news

Cardiff City v Bristol City (19:45 GMT)

And, like their Welsh neighbours, Bristol City have also named an unchanged side to the one beaten by table-topping Brighton last Tuesday.

Jonathan Kodjia, with six goals in 13 matches this season, is one man to keep your eye on - as is play-maker Luke Freeman, who'll play just in behind the front two.

  72. Team news

  76. The Severnside derby

Cardiff City v Bristol City (19:45 GMT)

    Scott Murray

The Severnside derby may not be one of football's most renowned rivalries. It may not be a rivalry you've even heard of before. But, mark my words, it's a rivalry all right.

From Scott Murray's cupped-ear celebration in front of Ninian Park's Popular Bank to the 6-0 hammering dished out by the Bluebirds at Ashton Gate five years ago, it's a fixture that rarely passes without incident.

So, what will tonight's tussle throw up?
