"I saw enough in Everton's performance in the first 45 to suggest they are an outstanding talent, but it was chalk and cheese. Norwich really got in their faces."

  8. Post update

    Norwich 1-1 Everton

A real busy day for the left-backs.

Just like in the first half, Everton are still primarily attacking down the Norwich left, while the home side continue to press heavily down their right flank.

There's been little change in the attacking zones these sides are targeting then, but the momentum is swinging.

Alex Neil's side were out of sight at the break but now look the more likely to score.

    .
  9. Post update

    Norwich 1-1 Everton

This second half performance from Norwich is hugely encouraging for boss Alex Neil. If the score stays like this then the Canaries will have won just once in nine league games, but at least there are positives for them to cling on to from this.

  10. Post update

Fifteen minutes remaining. I'm not sure I have witnessed a game of such changing contrasts. Having dominated before the break, Everton look so vulnerable at the back.

Simple stuff really for the Norwich goal.

Ryan Bennett's header is blocked, and Wes Hoolahan is on hand to scramble home.

This touch map might suggest Romelu Lukaku has had some defending to do, but actually he's just been coming deep to collect the ball.

It's been a very decent showing from the striker so far - but those two touches in the Norwich six-yard box should mean Everton have a two-goal lead, instead of just the one.

Not to mention the shot from the edge of the box...

"By hugging that flank and proving his ability to deliver crosses and passes with unerring accuracy, he is causing distinct problems for opposition sides.

Alex Neil has enough credit in the bank to avoid coming under any great pressure just yet but he'll be concerned by his side's current struggles, with only goal difference now keeping his side out of the relegation zone.

Neil hasn't been scared to change personnel and switch systems but their major problem remains a lack of goals. A proven goalscorer must top their shopping list come January.

What he would give for Romelu Lukaku. Only Jamie Vardy has scored more than his 11 Premier League goals. And like the Leicester striker, Lukaku is on a roll having scored in his last five in the league. A few more and Vardy's recently established record could come under threat.

Indeed, the Toffees have bagged 15 in the last five top-flight games to give their fans hope of qualifying for Europe.
