    Watford 2-0 Norwich

  2. GOAL - Watford 2-0 Norwich

    Odion Ighalo

You cannot keep this man quiet.

Richly deserved. This time Odion Ighalo gets away from his marker Sebastian Bassong and tucks his low shot past Declan Rudd.

He takes of his shirt in celebration and as a show of relief at finally getting on the scoresheet.

    Watford 1-0 Norwich

Sorry Watford fans - hope for Norwich.

    Watford 1-0 Norwich

Watford striker Odion Ighalo - who else - has another tussle with Sebastian Bassong. He goes down but no penalty.

At the other end, Graham Dorrans launches one from 25 yards but it's pushed away by Heurelho Gomes.

    Norwich applying the pressure.

  5. Norwich's first corner of the match

    Watford 1-0 Norwich

Watford's defence is still awake. Almen Abdi gets his foot in front of Robbie Brady's shot - it goes out for the Canaries' first corner.

But from the set-piece, Nathan Ake heads well clear.

  6. Post update

    Watford 1-0 Norwich

Plenty of endeavour down the wings from Norwich, who are now without Nathan Redmond, but not much going on in Watford's box.

  7. Guess who? Ighalo twice again

    Watford 1-0 Norwich

The Nigeria striker looks up at the clouds again for some divine help.

First the ball is played into him on the edge of the six-yard area, but his toe-poked shot is saved by Declan Rudd.

Then Troy Deeney plays in Ighalo but Sebastian Bassong does enough to put him off his stride. He looked to be tugging on the shirt of the Watford striker.

    Watford 1-0 Norwich

Juan Carlos Paredes is on for Ikechi Anya, and Jose Manuel Jurado is off for Almen Abdi.

  9. Ighalo goes close again

    Watford 1-0 Norwich

There is a touch of Obafemi Martins about Odion Ighalo - a good wriggler.

The Nigeria striker finds himself in a one-on-two with Sebastian Bassong and Ryan Bennett, but breaks free of the pair and fires an angled shot two yards wide of the far post.

  10. Small worry for Watford

    Watford 1-0 Norwich

One of the Hornets' two men of the moment, Troy Deeney, started limping in a tussle with Sebastian Bassong, but the skipper seems OK.

    Watford 1-0 Norwich

Lewis Grabban comes off and is replaced by Cameron Jerome.

  12. GOOD SAVE!

    Watford 1-0 Norwich

Etienne Capoue combines with Odion Ighalo again, which almost ends in a second. The Nigerian forward is played into the area, but keeper Declan Rudd is quick off his line and thwarts him.

  13. CLOSE!

    Watford 1-0 Norwich

Substitute Dieumerci Mbokani is certainly causing the Watford defence problems.

A ball from the left is played in by Robbie Brady for the Congolese player who outmuscles his markers but fails to get a connection.

Moments later, his control lets him down just as he is about to shoot from three yards.

  14. Ighalo determination

    Watford 1-0 Norwich

He's got some strength. Odion Ighalo miscontrols a pass played into him in the area, tussles with Sebastian Bassong, loses possession, but wins it back and manages to still get a shot away which crashes into the side-netting.

  15. Nasty, nasty fall for Nathan Ake

    Watford 1-0 Norwich

The ball is played in from the left - Norwich defender Andre Wisdom charges in and gets his head on the ball, but he also heads defender Nathan Ake who was jumping in the air at the same time.

The defender, on loan from Chelsea, lands on his neck in a very awkward fall. It looked horrible on the replay.

Miraculously, he's OK. Watch and wince on Match of the Day tonight.

  16. Post update

    Watford 1-0 Norwich

Mbokani, 30, is on loan from Dinamo Kiev, but it's his team-mate Robbie Brady who has the first shot of the half.

The ball is played over the top. The Republic of Ireland player outpaces Nyom and fires three yards wide. He should have done better with that.

  17. KICK-OFF

    Watford 1-0 Norwich

    We are back under way.

    Watford 1-0 Norwich

Dieumerci Mbokani comes on for attacking midfielder Nathan Redmond.

Possession counts for Watford. They've also had five shots on goals to Norwich's two. The Canaries have yet to test keeper Heurelho Gomes.

    Watford 1-0 Norwich

The Hornets are buzzing and looking comfortable.

    Watford 1-0 Norwich

The Canaries have a free-kick on the right. It is swung into the area but defender Sebastian Bassong heads over under slight pressure.

    Watford 1-0 Norwich

Odion Ighalo picks up the ball from a throw-in then baffles Norwich's Ryan Bennett, with a drag of the ball through the defender's legs. His strike on the angle is blocked by the alert Declan Rudd

    Watford 1-0 Norwich

So, so unlucky for Odion Ighalo. The replay shows he was onside, but the assistant ruled him offside.

A Watford ball finds itself wide to the right of the box where Nyom is positioned. He heads it into the area and finds Ighalo who is quickest to react.

The Nigerian fires in, starts celebrating, but then sees the raising of the flag.

The replay shows he was onside by a yard or two.

  24. Deeney's hot streak

    Watford 1-0 Norwich

    Martin Keown

Former Arsenal defender on Final Score

"It’s about what is between the ears. There has to be an arrogance about centre forwards, the good players I played with had that mentality."

    Watford 1-0 Norwich

    Garth Crooks

Former Spurs striker on Final Score

"Without a shadow of a doubt, it was a penalty."

  26. GOAL - Watford 1-0 Norwich

    Troy Deeney

It's now five in his last six Premier League games for Troy Deeney. The Hornets captain gave Declan Rudd little chance by smashing his effort high to the keeper's left.

Alex Tettey brings down Odion Ighalo. The Norwich man is shown a yellow card after tripping the Nigeria striker, who was played in by Etienne Capoue.

  28. Possession stats

    Stats, stats, glorious stats.

Some like them, some don't. Some tell a tale, some don't.

    So here's one for you:

    • Watford have had 64% of possession.
  29. Post update

    Watford 0-0 Norwich

So far Watford forwards Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo haven't had a sniff of goal.

They've been well marshalled by the Norwich backline. Andre Wisdom - on loan from Liverpool - has been particularly impressive.

  30. Post update

    Watford 0-0 Norwich

At the other end, on-loan defender Nathan Ake lets rip on the angle from 18 yards, but his strike is blocked, leading to hopeful appeals for handball.

The replay shows that Andre Wisdom could not have moved his hand in time. Good call referee Mike Dean.

  31. Post update

    Watford 0-0 Norwich

The recalled Nathan Redmond looks lively down the right. The England Under-21 man looks to beat his man, but his attempted cross is blocked by Nathan Ake.

  32. Post update

Watford's Ben Watson has the first shot on goal of the match - his 20-yard effort is deflected about five yards wide.

Nothing comes from the following two corners.

  33. Canaries chirping

    Watford 0-0 Norwich

Norwich have started well. They're winning the second balls in midfield.

    Here's a factoid for you:

  34. Capoue's OK to play

    Watford 0-0 Norwich

Capoue is OK to continue. It's even stevens regarding the play.

  35. Bang on head

    Watford 0-0 Norwich

Watford's Etienne Capoue doesn't seem to know what day it is after getting an elbow on the back of the head from Graham Dorrans. It looked accidental.

He's getting some treatment on the pitch.

  39. MOTD commentator's view

    Watford v Norwich (15:00 GMT)

    Simon Brotherton

    MOTD commentator at Vicarage Road

    Vicarage Road

"Norwich had Watford's number last season, beating them 3-0 home and away as they fought for promotion from the Championship.

"Yet Watford go into this fixture in a far more favourable position and have won three of their last five games, including last week at Aston Villa.

"In contrast, Norwich have won only one of the last nine and sit just three points above the relegation zone, six points adrift of this weekend's opponents.

"I saw Norwich work hard to beat Swansea 1-0 the other week, but this will be my first visit of the season to Vicarage Road and I'm keen to see first hand the work being done by Quique Sanchez Flores."

  40. Vinnie is here

    Watford v Norwich (15:00 GMT)

  41. 'Hornets have strong foundation'

    Watford v Norwich (15:00 GMT)

    Jermaine Jenas

Ex-Spurs & England midfielder on Football Focus

"Not many of us knew what to expect from Watford. They have brought in a lot of new players but defensively they have been very solid.

"You really have to give credit to manager Quique Flores. They've got a strong foundation, and that mixture of Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo up front means they are always likely to score goals."

Watfordand managerQuique Floresare enjoying a blissful start to their relationship - but can it last? BBC Sport punditPat Nevinthinks it might.

"Quique Flores has been at eight different clubs in 12 seasons and Watford haven’t hung about with changing managers either, so it doesn’t look like a marriage made in heaven," the former Scotland international tells5 live Sport.

"But oddly enough when you hear him talking, it sounds like both parties seem to have settled down a little bit. That might be a good thing for Watford."

Symbiotic partnerships that work together for the greater good.

Watford's frontline team of Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo are both competent attackers but are far more explosive as a partnership... and boy, have the Hornets benefited.

The dynamic duo have combined to create 23 goal-scoring chances for themselves in the Premier League this campaign - more than any other pair.

Nigeria striker Ighalo has scored eight goals, and Deeney has four in his last five league matches.
