Former Arsenal defender on Final Score

    Stoke 2-0 Man City

    Pat Nevin

BBC Radio 5 live at the Britannia Stadium

"Great confidence coming through this entire Stoke team - they will remember today. I would be very surprised if they don't go on to finish well up in the top 10. If everybody stays fit, they could challenge for Europe.

"Meanwhile, it's tough times for Manuel Pellegrini and Manchester City. There were a lot of failures in that team today."

  3. FULL-TIME

    Stoke 2-0 Man City

There it is, the full-time whistle. Mark Hughes leads Stoke City to victory over his former team. Have Stoke become Barcelona? Who knows?

Marko Arnautovic is still trying to have a scrap with anyone who moves. But his two goals and Xherdan Shaqiri's mastery have been the difference.

That's it from me here, but there will be ongoing reaction and build up to the rest of the games over here.

Xherdan Shakiri thinks he's in training. The Swiss puts a pass right through the heart of the Man City defence that Bojan gets on to, but his first touch puts it against Joe Hart and City clear.

The Man City keeper is stood in the tunnel, about to lead his team out, and is giving each player an individual pep talk.

"Come on Kevin, keep assisting," he yells at Kevin De Bruyne. Has anyone ever been motivated for a game before by being told to "keep assisting".

  83. MOTD commentator's view

Stoke v Man City (12:45 GMT)

    Guy Mowbray

BBC Match of the Day commentator at Britannia Stadium

"Before this fixture last season, Mark Hughes was wary of facing 'a wounded animal'.

"This time the visitors are the walking wounded, with Yaya Toure joining an injury list that still includes Sergio Aguero.

"It had been hoped that Aguero would start alongside Kevin de Bruyne and David Silva for the first time since six were put past Newcastle.

"Scoring won't be so easy against a Stoke side with Ryan Shawcross back from suspension.

"The Potters have yet to concede a league goal with their captain on the field this season."

  84. Why would you go anywhere else?

Stoke v Man City (12:45 GMT)

Here's a reminder that there's football on everywhere today - but you knew that already. You can keep across the rest of the Premier League build-up over here.

Or, if you like your football with a sprinkling of magic, why not check out the second round of the FA Cup over here.

  85. Aguero to go?

Stoke v Man City (12:45 GMT)

    Sergio Aguero

It's another weekend without Sergio Aguero for Man City, after the Argentine hurt his heel last week. City are hopeful he will be back to face Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League on Tuesday.

But Aguero has caused a stir without even playing.

The 27-year-old has said he would like to return to his hometown club Independiente when his contract expires at the Etihad in 2019.

A boy who has scored a shed load of goals for Man City who would like to finish his career back home at the club where it all started for him? Fair enough, I say.

  86. De Brilliant

Stoke v Man City (12:45 GMT)

    De Bruyne

Man City will be chuffed to bits to have David Silva back, of course.

But they've not completely lacked a magic man in his absence. Kevin de Bruyne has six assists this term which, combined with his Wolfsburg stats last season, makes him Europe's most crafty creator.

  87. Battle of the keepers?

Stoke v Man City (12:45 GMT)

    Jermaine Jenas

Ex-Spurs & England midfielder on Football Focus

"Until recently Joe Hart hasn't had too much pressure on him, so it's good to have somebody like Jack Butland there, proving what he can do in the Premier League with Stoke.

"Joe will be aware of how well Jack's been doing, but for me he is still England's number one."

  88. Cross winds

Stoke v Man City (12:45 GMT)

    Who'd be a keeper, eh?

I'm watching the goalies practicing taking crosses and the wind is giving them all sort of bother - deliveries all over the place. If you're Stoke, you're thinking "get it in the box", surely?

  89. Where's Walters?

Stoke v Man City (12:45 GMT)

    Walters touchmap against Sunderland

Read into it what you will, but this could be a major reason why Stoke have struggled for goals this season and why Jon Walters in on the bench.

Here are all Walters' touches in the 2-0 loss at Sunderland last week - only six of them were in the opposition area.

Here's another stunning stat - none of Stoke's other "forwards" last week had a touch in the Sunderland penalty area. So that's Marko Arnautovic, Xherdan Shakiri and Bojan Krkic.

  90. Stingy Stoke

Stoke v Man City (12:45 GMT)

    Stoke graphic

Games involving Stoke have not been full to the gills with goals this season - in fact fixtures involving the Potters have produced the fewest number of goals in the Premier League.

Five clean sheets in their last seven league games and 11 goals in 14 tells you all you need to know. Solid as a rock, as penetrative as a blancmange (which, by the way, is a really oddly spelt word),

  91. Wrap up warm

Stoke v Man City (12:45 GMT)

The wind could cause havoc at the Britannia today, so it might be wise to wear all of these scarves at once if you're in the area.

    Prem table

Here's how the top six looks at lunchtime today. Any one of four sides could be top of the pile come tea time - Man City will hope it is them.

Stoke, meanwhile, have been as steady as an Eddie on a Segway. They're lodged in 12th place, having lost just two of their last nine league games.

  93. Team news - Silva starts for Man City

Stoke v Man City (12:45 GMT)

David Silva makes his first Premier League start since the 6-1 win over Newcastle United on 3 October.

And Joe Hart returns after a hamstring problem.

Man City have plenty of injury problems, with Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure, Vincent Kompany, Pablo Zabaleta and Samr Nasri out, while Eliaquim Mangala is injured.

So Wilfried Bony and Fernando are also drafted in from last week's win over Southampton.

Man City XI: Hart, Sagna, Otamendi, Demichelis, Kolarov, De Bruyne, Fernando, Fernandinho, Silva, Sterling, Bony

Subs: Caballero, Navas, Kelechi, Delph, Garcia, Clichy, Humphreys

  94. Team news - Walters on bench

Stoke City's influential frontman Jon Walters has dropped to the bench following last week's 2-0 loss at Sunderland.

In one of two changes from that game, Ibrahim Afellay comes in, while Charlie Adam makes way for Geoff Cameron.

Stoke XI: Butland, Pieters, Johnson, Shawcross, Wollscheid, Whelan, Cameron, Shaqiri, Arnautovic, Afellay, Bojan

Subs: Haugaard, Joselu, Wilson, Van Ginkel, Adam, Diouf, Walters

  95. Team news coming

Stoke v Man City (12:45 GMT)

The first thing to say is it's blowing an absolute gale at the Britannia Stadium. A windy afternoon in Stoke has never been more apt.

But let's get your team news...

  96. Absolutely potty

Stoke v Man City (12:45 GMT)

    Pottery man crying

Stoke. The home of high drama, intense competition and excessive emotion.

And that's just the Great Pottery Throw Down.

I've not seen much of the pottery-themed BBC Two programme (Ok, I've got it on series record), but I know this guy pictured will shed a tear at the mere sight of a well-handled wheel or a finely-glazed Toby jug.

But step aside potters, because today it's all about the Potters and the visit of the Premier League leaders. Let's THROW DOWN!
