    Morton 0-4 Rangers

We have live commentary on the BBC Sport website of Scotland's Rugby World Cup match against the United States. I'll sign off now. Look out for the Premiership highlights going online from 18:00 BST. Thanks very much for your company.

  2. Post update

    Morton 0-4 Rangers

    Morton manager Jim Duffy

"We gave Rangers an invitation to take control of the game with the penalty. Once Rangers got that opening goal they took us to task. Their movement was really good. We were beaten by a far better side today, which is no disgrace. What would have been a disgrace is if we had thrown in the towel and we didn't do that. They are the exceptional team in this division."

  3. Post update

    Morton 0-4 Rangers

    Rangers manager Mark Warburton

"The first 25 minutes were really important. We set the tempo. I said from day one Martyn (Waghorn) just needed a regular run. He will get better and better. He takes penalties every day. Today was a good result. I am really pleased with the performance. It's one game at a time. Next it's Falkirk, hopefully it will be a packed Ibrox."

  5. FULL-TIME

    Morton 0-4 Rangers

The fans head out of Cappielow at the end of an enjoyable match, though the second half wasn't as engaging as the first 45 minutes. Rangers make it eight wins from eight but Morton can hold their heads high. They have had a really good start to the season since stepping up from League One.

  6. HITS THE WOODWORK

Rangers sub Dean Shiels, on for Gedion Zelalem earlier, hits the post with a right-foot drive.

  7. Post update

    Morton 0-4 Rangers

Big Denny Johnstone is through on the Rangers goal and looks a good bet to score but we hadn't reckoned on Rangers captain Lee Wallace getting back to make a last-ditch tackle.

  8. Post update

    Morton 0-4 Rangers

    Four minutes left, folks.

  9. Post update

    Morton 0-4 Rangers

Well, drama over. James Tavernier clears the wall with his free-kick but his shot lands straight at Derek Gaston who makes a simple save.

  10. YELLOW CARD

    Morton 0-4 Rangers

Thomas O'Ware is booked for hauling down Nathan Oduwa one yard outside the Morton penalty box. This is dangerous for the Ton...

  11. GOAL

    Morton 0-4 Rangers (Waghorn)

The tireless James Tavernier scampers down the right flank and sends in a cross that is headed by a Morton defender into the path of Martyn Waghorn, who knocks a shot past Derek Gaston from eight yards for his 14th goal of the season.

  12. Post update

    Morton 0-3 Rangers

Nicky Law stretches his legs with an immediate run down the right and crosses for Andy Halliday, who is leaning back when he hits his shot over the Morton crossbar.

  13. SUBSTITUTIONS

    Morton 0-3 Rangers

Jim Duffy sends on Romario Sabajo for Bobby Barr. Rangers' Nicky Law comes on for fellow midfielder Barrie McKay, who was at Morton on loan last season.

    Morton 0-3 Rangers

OK, we have 20 minutes to go in Greenock. Can Morton score in the next few minutes to add a bit of drama? They have a corner...but Rangers defender Lee Wallace clears.

  17. SUBSTITUTIONS

    Morton 0-3 Rangers

Two changes for Morton. Ross Forbes, on a booking, slopes off the field with all the enthusiasm of a man heading to the dentist's. On comes Stefan McCluskey. Alex Samuel also goes off, Peter MacDonald his replacement.

  18. Post update

    Morton 0-3 Rangers

One for the cameras, though the autumn sunshine might play havoc with the exposure. Kenny Miller tip toes on to his left foot and curls a shot at the Morton goal where Derek Gaston arches his back, stretches out a big green arm and makes a good save.

Andy Moles, East Kilbride: "Good stuff from Rangers, keep it up and we can start planning for next year back where we belong."

  20. SUBSTITUTION

    Morton 0-3 Rangers

Rangers make a change: Jason Holt is replaced by Kenny Miller.

  21. Post update

    Morton 0-3 Rangers

Andy Halliday's free-kick from out on the right wing thunders into the midriff of Derek Gaston in the Ton goal.

  22. Post update

    Morton 0-3 Rangers

Morton have two against one in a quick counter-attack but spurn their chance to pull a goal back. Bobby Barr opts not to shoot from 20-odd yards and runs into the Rangers box but his shot is like one of those golf drives that leave you too exhausted to take your second shot after 50 yards. He just didn't connect with it cleanly at all.

  24. Post update

    Morton 0-3 Rangers

Twenty-year-old Morton defender Michael Miller makes a superb challenge to deny Martyn Waghorn just as the Rangers striker was trying to move the ball on to his left foot.

  25. CLOSE!

    Morton 0-3 Rangers

Denny Johnstone, on loan from Birmingham City, dashes into the box from the left touchline and tries to curl a shot in at the far post. Alex Samuel, on loan from Swansea, rushes in and is a whisker away from poking it in for a Morton goal.

  26. Post update

    Morton 0-3 Rangers

That's a bit better from the Ton, as they build patiently and Bobby Barr sends a ball into the box that Danny Wilson clears.

  27. Post update

    Morton 0-3 Rangers

    Falkirk manager Peter Houston

"Morton are causing their own problems by giving the ball away cheaply at the start of this second half."

  28. Post update

    Morton 0-3 Rangers

The TV cameras are picking up some lovely pictures of young fans watching the match from the branches of trees just outside the stadium. This is proper football, except it's on at Sunday lunch-time.

  33. HALF-TIME

    Morton 0-3 Rangers

That was a thoroughly entertaining first half. It would have been interesting to see how things would have panned out had Ross Forbes not pulled down Nathan Oduwa, from which Martyn Waghorn gave Rangers the lead from the penalty spot. Rangers' third goal was a cracker, James Tavernier rounding off a move he had begun outside his won box. Morton have not been mere onlookers, though: Michael Tidser's left-foot volley and Denny Johnstone's immediate follow-up tested Wes Foderingham.

  34. Post update

    Morton 0-3 Rangers

Michael Tidser's volley draws a superb save from Wes Foderingham and the Rangers goalie is alert enough to immediately deny Denny Johnstone. Morton may be three goals down but they are putting up a decent fight. I'd expect the home support to applaud their players off at half-time.

  35. Post update

    Morton 0-3 Rangers

Conor Pepper, at the edge of the Morton box, smacks his clearance off Nathan Oduwa and the ball sails into the path of Martyn Waghorn. Perhaps stunned at the chance to score a hat-trick he cracks his shot straight at Morton goalie Derek Gaston who makes a brave save.

  36. Post update

    Morton 0-3 Rangers

Morton try to hit back as Bobby Barr drives at the Rangers defence but his shot isn't hit cleanly enough to trouble Wes Foderingham. Moments later, Alex Samuel rolls the rather cumbersome-looking Rob Kiernan inside the box and with his unfavoured left foot lashes a shot wide of the Rangers goal. Better from Morton.

  37. GOAL

    Morton 0-3 Rangers (Tavernier)

    James Tavernier scores

What a peach of a goal. In a superb counter-attack Rangers break at pace from the right-back position, through midfield and out to Barrie McKay on the left. He feeds Gedion Zelalem whose weight of pass is perfect for the irrepressible James Tavernier, who smashes home a shot from 12 yards.

  38. Post update

    Morton 0-2 Rangers

Morton midfielder Ross Forbes clips the feet of Rangers' Nathan Oduwa and concedes a penalty
Image caption: Morton midfielder Ross Forbes clips the feet of Rangers' Nathan Oduwa and concedes the penalty from which Rangers took the lead
  39. CLOSE!

    Morton 0-2 Rangers

Ross Forbes curls a good free-kick from the right wing with his left boot and his effort hits the side netting of Wes Foderingham's Rangers goal.

  40. Post update

    Morton 0-2 Rangers

Rangers really ought to be three goals up. Gedion Zelalem lofts a ball to the back post for Nathan Oduwa, who cushions a beautiful ball across the face of the Ton goal. Barrie McKay only had to side-foot, knee or chest the ball home - but didn't!

  41. Post update

    Morton 0-2 Rangers

Ross Forbes is frustratingly inaccurate with his free-kick from out on the left and Rangers clear. You imagine Morton will have to make the most of set pieces such as that.

  42. GOAL

    Morton 0-2 Rangers (Waghorn)

    Martyn Waghorn scores his second

Barrie McKay pings in a low ball from the left which Martyn Waghorn controls and moves on to his left foot in a jiffy. The Rangers striker glances at goal and smashes a left-foot drive past the helpless Derek Gaston for his 13th goal of the season.

  43. Post update

    Morton 0-1 Rangers

Bobby Barr tries his best to get round Rangers right-back James Tavernier but it's the defender who comes away with it. Rangers lose possession and Alex Samuel swivels away from his marker and races at the visitors' goal. However, his shot from 25 yards is dampened by the sturdy legs of Rob Kiernan.

  44. Post update

    Morton 0-1 Rangers

James Tavernier is next to make a charge at the Ton rearguard. Ricki Lamie makes an important intervention to thwart that attack but Nathan Oduwa picks up the ball on the right and bamboozles the Morton defence before flicking the ball over their heads to Gedion Zelalem who chests it down before losing control.

  45. GOAL

    Morton 0-1 Rangers (Waghorn pen)

    Martyn Waghorn scores Rangers' opener

Martyn Waghorn scores his seventh penalty this season, sending Derek Gaston the wrong way after Nathan Oduwa had been brought down on the bye-line for the spot-kick.

  46. PENALTY

    Morton 0-0 Rangers

    Rangers win a penalty.

  47. Post update

    Morton 0-0 Rangers

Derek Gaston makes a comfortable save from Gedion Zelalem's shot from 18 yards. At the other end big Denny Johnstone tries to build a Morton attack but Rob Kiernan dispossesses him.

  48. Post update

    Morton 0-0 Rangers

Bobby Barr lifts the home fans with a run down the left wing, but it's Rangers who have the bulk of possession in the opening six minutes.

  49. Post update

    Morton 0-0 Rangers

    Falkirk manager Peter Houston

"It looks like Morton are going to play with two up front, (Alex) Samuel up there with Denny Johnstone."

  50. Post update

    Morton 0-0 Rangers

Jason Holt wins Rangers a corner after good work by Barrie McKay but Morton defend well and clear the danger.

"(For Morton) to beat a Premier League side like Motherwell at Cappielow is fantastic. They have good experience in the middle of the park. 61. Post update

    Morton manager Jim Duffy

"I've brought in Denny Johnstone and Bobby Barr from the start and I've left out Peter MacDonald and Romario (Sabajo). I don't think working hard will be a problem today, it's just can we keep the ball and pose a threat. Defensively, we know we have to be at our best today. (Luco) Gasparotto is away on international duty but we don't know if he could have played against his parent club anyway. It's a fantastic day for football and there will be a great atmosphere. We look at Rangers, both their full-backs are goalscorers. It's important we don't dive in around the box because Rangers have shown that they can score from there."

  62. Post update
