  1. Post update

    Huddersfield 1-1 Brighton

Not a night full of goals in the Championship exactly.

Certainly not what you might have expected after just 16 seconds at Huddersfield - where Beram Kayal gave Brighton the lead.

  2. How they stand - League Two

Leyton Orient, Wycombe and Hartlepool are going great guns in League Two - but it's Orient's goal difference that sees them top the table tonight.

    League Two table
  3. How they stand - League One

So Coventry maintain their 100% start to the season - Crewe pushed them close but Tony Mowbray's side are sitting pretty tonight.

  4. National League results

Aldershot 1-1 Dover, Altrincham 2-1 Grimsby, Barrow 1-1 Guiseley, Boreham Wood 0-1 Forest Green, Bromley 1-2 Braintree, Chester 1-1 Cheltenham, Kidderminster 1-3 Wrexham, Lincoln 5-3 Macclesfield, Southport 1-2 Gateshead, Torquay 0-1 Woking, Tranmere 1-0 FC Halifax, Welling 2-2 Eastleigh.

Lincoln were two down after six minutes, and then went on to win 5-3. Not bad entertainment.

  5. Safe trip home

    Plymouth 4-1 Carlisle

Carlisle fans will have travelled 779 miles down to Plymouth and back by the time they get home tonight but at least they got a goal in the end.

Incredible effort that - on a Tuesday night!?

  9. How they stand - Championship

It is a great sight for Ipswich fans. Their team has been in the Championship longer than any other side, and tonight they are on top of it.

  10. Championship results

    Championship results

    Huddersfield 1-1 Brighton

And that is that at Huddersfield.

Brighton's 100% record comes to an end. Ipswich go top of the Championship on goal difference.

    Derby 1-1 Middlesbrough

Full-time as well at the iPro. Honours even.

    Blackburn 1-1 Cardiff

Finally the whistle goes at Ewood Park.

They came so close to a winner!

  14. CLOSE!

    Blackburn 1-1 Cardiff

And into the fourth minute of added time Shane Duffy is denied again!

Matt Connolly hacks the ball off the line!

    MK Dons 1-0 Bolton

Daniel Powell's goal is enough for MK Dons and Bolton's miserable campaign continues. That is just one point from three games for Neil Lennon's side.

  16. CLOSE!

    Blackburn 1-1 Cardiff

He was lost for the equaliser but David Marshall pulls out a big stop to earn his side a point at Blackburn.

Fantastic save to deny Shane Duffy at the death!

  17. Post update

    Derby 1-1 Middlesbrough

And there's still a few minutes of time added on to play at the iPro.

It looked for all the world like Boro had put in the perfect away display. From bad to worse?

    Nottingham Forest 0-0 Charlton

Charlton remain unbeaten this season and a point at the City Ground means it is one win and two draws for Guy Luzon's Charlton.

  19. Post update

    Huddersfield 1-1 Brighton

Will there be a late goal at Huddersfield too? Into three minutes of stoppage time...

    Ipswich Town 2-0 Burnley

Ipswich are heading to the top of the Championship if the score stays the same at Derby.

Rotherham United 0-0 Preston North End

A first point of the season for Rotherham.

  22. Derby 1-1 Middlesbrough

    Johnny Russell (88 mins)

A late goal at Derby too - Johnny Russell fires between Dimi's legs at the far post.

Finally the home side have something to show for all their possession!

  23. Post update

    Nottingham Forest 0-0 Charlton Athletic

Five minutes of injury time at the City Ground. Will we see a late winner?

  24. Blackburn 1-1 Cardiff

    Grant Hanley (88 mins)

    Here is the equaliser!

Grant Hanley with it, he taps in at the far post with David Marshall bamboozled.

    Ipswich 2-0 Burnley

Burnley denied a goal back as Ipswich goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski makes a great save to parry Michael Keane's powerful close-range header.

  26. CLOSE!

    Huddersfield 1-1 Brighton

This one is a cross - Jacob Butterfield whips one in from pretty much the same position where he scored from, but David Stockdale does well to save

    Blackburn 0-1 Cardiff

Craig Noone is on for the away side, scorer Joe Mason the one making way.

Blackburn have got to re-find that bit of momentum they had earlier in the half - Cardiff looking comfortable here.

  28. Post update

    Derby 0-1 Middlesbrough

Another decent save from Dimi at his near post means Boro are still to concede in the Championships so far.

Chris Martin denied. Time running out for the home side? There's about five to go...

  29. CLOSE!

    Huddersfield 1-1 Brighton

Huddersfield hands were in the air for offside and as the ball broke to Dale Stephens there was chaos in the defence.

Step forward Joe Lynch, who blocks the shot, John Terry-esque, stretching with his head while on the ground. Brilliant scenes.

  30. League Two update

The Carlisle fans might as well make an early start to their journey home. They have almost 400 miles to go. And they have a long time to reflect on each of Plymouth's goals. The hosts lead 4-0.

The 70 or so Carlisle fans that have made the trip might be thinking their evening could have been spent better doing something else. Anything else.

At least Exeter's fans may be celebrating a win on their long trek home. Their side are 2-0 up at Dagenham and Redbridge. Elsewhere, Cambridge are 2-1 up at AFC Wimbledon.

Accrington, Barnet, Hartlepool, Leyton Orient, Wycombe, Oxford and York are also winning.

  31. Post update

    Huddersfield 1-1 Brighton

Things have quietened down since that bit of home pressure - what is Brighton boss Chris Powell thinking now?

There's ten minutes or so to find a winner that will keep their 100% record running.

  32. Post update

    Derby 0-1 Middlesbrough

Here's Aitor Karanka with his first change now.

Academy graduate Adam Reach is on for Diego Fabbrini - no stunning goal for the Italian tonight then.

  33. HITS THE WOODWORK - Wright (Preston)

    Rotherham 0-0 Preston

So close to a first goal of the night at Rotherham. And it nearly went to the visitors. Preston's Bailey Wright met a corner from the right wing and headed at goal but it bounced off the crossbar.

    Derby 0-1 Middlesbrough

Here's Derby boss Paul Clement with his last change.

A final roll of the dice sees Darren Bent come on for Andreas Weimann. Will that make the difference? The boy can finish...

  35. CLOSE!

    Huddersfield 1-1 Brighton

Jonathan Hogg's low cross is good but Nahki Wells miscues his strike, stretching, and Ishmael Miller can't stretch far enough following up at the back stick.

This is a strong period for the home side.

  36. Post update

    Derby 0-1 Middlesbrough

Over 30,000 in attendance at the iPro, but Derby are struggling to break Boro down.

They've already had to use two of their three substitutions, too. Could that be a factor as legs tire late on?

  37. GOAL - Ipswich 2-0 Burnley

    David McGoldrick (Ipswich, 71 mins)

It is a long way back now for Sean Dyche's Burnley. David McGoldrick's back-post header from Ainsley Maitland-Niles's corner makes it 2-0 to Mick McCarthy's side.

    Sean Dyche

    Blackburn 0-1 Cardiff

Kenwyne Jones is on for Alex Revell at Ewood Park. Cardiff seem to have emerged from a brilliant Blackburn spell with their 1-0 lead intact.

Can they find a second with the big man on?

  39. Post update

    Rotherham 0-0 Preston

It is heavy rain at Rotherham and there isn't much to brighten up the mood on the pitch. It remains goalless, although the hosts did have a good opportunity when Richard Smallwood passed to Matt Derbyshire, who set up Jonson Clarke-Harris. But his attempt goes over the bar.

  40. League One update

Coventry are being pushed hard at home to Crewe and their 100% record is in danger.

The away side have just pegged Tony Mowbray's men back to 2-2, while Walsall are climbing up to second - their winning 1-0 away to Rochdale.

In the 19:30 BST kick-off, Sheffield United are 2-1 up at Peterborough.

Follow all the latest scores here.

  41. GOAL - Ipswich 1-0 Burnley

    Freddie Sears (Ipswich, 66 mins)

Burnley have had the better of the chances at Portman Road, but hosts Ipswich take the lead through a flicked finish at the near post from Freddie Sears.

He guides a low cross from substitute Brett Pitman into the far corner, much to the delight of the home fans.

  42. Post update

    Blackburn 0-1 Cardiff

    How. On. Earth.

Grant Hanley has just missed a brilliant chance. I really don't know how.

He's headed wide from about three inches out. Maybe Ben Marshall's flick on from a Craig Conway free-kick just came onto him tad too fast?

  43. Post update

    Derby 0-1 Middlesbrough

With Brighton now being held away to Huddersfield - Boro are heading top of the table on goal difference.

Still a long way to go though....

  44. GOAL - MK Dons 1-0 Bolton

Daniel Powell (MK Dons, 60 mins)

What a way to make an impact. Substitute Daniel Powell has only just come on to the pitch and he has got himself on to the scoresheet to put MK Dons ahead.

It's a great ball from Samir Carruthers who plays it inside Bolton's right-back and Powell runs on to the ball to guide the ball into the corner. Lovely finish.

  45. HITS THE WOODWORK (Blackburn - Delfouneso)

    Blackburn 0-1 Cardiff

Nathan Delfouneso from the edge of the box... he hits the crossbar!

His half-volley took a deflection on the way and Cardiff can breathe a sigh of relief. Let off.

  46. Post update

    Nottingham Forest 0-0 Charlton Athletic

A couple of chances for Nottingham Forest. Firstly, Henri Lansbury fires wide before David Vaughan shoots over the top from the edge of the penalty area.

  47. Huddersfield 1-1 Brighton

    Jacob Butterfield (54 mins)

Yes it's hit with power but surely David Stockdale should be doing better here?

Jacob Butterfield fires Huddersfield back on level terms at the near post - but it looks to have gone through Stockdale far too easily.

It may have even been a cross...

  48. Post update

    Derby 0-1 Middlesbrough

Here's another Daniel Ayala intervention - Tom Ince was close to stealing through on goal there but the Spaniard just gets a toe on the ball.

Is the momentum just shifting a bit? Boro yet to concede this season. (OK, it's only been two games, but still).

  49. Post update

    MK Dons 0-0 Bolton Wanderers

Hosts MK Dons have made a bright start to the second half as Jordan Spence sends a ball across the box but Simon Church can't connect at the far post. But we are still without a goal.

  50. Post update

    Derby 0-1 Middlesbrough

Derby having all of the ball but they still trail Boro, who are looking organised at the back. Daniel Ayala clears at the near post from a Ryan Shotton cross.

Kike's goal - from Boro's first shot on goal - still separates the teams.

  51. Post update

    Ipswich 0-0 Burnley

A big chance for Ipswich Town as Ainsley Maitland-Niles picks out Tommy Smith from a corner but the defender makes a mess of the header and sends the ball wide.

Town striker Daryl Murphy, the Championship's top goalscorer last season, has gone off at half-time, with Brett Pitman coming on.

  52. Post update

    Huddersfield 0-1 Brighton

Better from the hosts in the few minutes since the restart - Nahki Wells is about to latch on to an Ishmael Miller through pass but is flagged offside.

A Brighton win would mean three from three, remember.

  53. Post update

    Blackburn 0-1 Cardiff

Well I had Bengali-Fode Koita as Blackburn's brightest performer in that first half but he's been taken off at half-time.

    Moudou Barrow is on instead.

  54. KICK-OFF

And we are back under way around the country.

  55. Champions League play-off action

    Manchester United 2-1 Club Brugge

It is a big day of Football League action, but also a big day for Manchester United as they are in Champions League play-off action.

In the first leg at Old Trafford, two first-half goals from Memphis Depay has given them a 2-1 lead against Belgium's Club Brugge.

Follow the action with our live text commentary.

    Memphis Depay
  56. Post update

Just three goals from the seven games on offer in the Championship tonight then.

That's three goals from 315 minutes of football. Maybe we're set for a storming second 45?

    Derby 0-1 Middlesbrough

And that's yer lot between Derby and Boro, too.

Kike's strike good enough for three points so far.

Boro yet to concede this season, and Dave Nugent is on the bench...

    Huddersfield 0-1 Brighton

The league leaders continuing their 100% record as things stand.

And looking good for it, too.

  64. Post update

    Derby 0-1 Middlesbrough

Free-kick for Derby on the edge of the Boro box and Tom Ince forces Dimi into a very decent save indeed.

The best chance of the half for the home side.

    Ipswich 0-0 Burnley

    Blackburn 0-1 Cardiff

Oh my word, Shane Duffy blazes over the bar from about two yards out just before the break.

Joe Mason's strike separating the teams.

  67. Post update

    Derby 0-1 Middlesbrough

Four minutes stoppage time to play at Derby - Jeff Hendrick and Jamie Hanson have both been replaced after picking up injuries.

Johnny Russell and Ryan Shotton on in their place.

  68. League Two update

The last thing you need when you are making a 779-mile round trip is a goal against your side just before half time.

But that's what has just happened to Carlisle, who trail 1-0 at Plymouth thanks to Jake Jervis's goal. The Carlisle fans, who are likely to get back home at about 5am, will be desperately hoping that the journey has not been a waste of time.

  69. Post update

Where are the goals, lads? Who needs the assistant refs anyway.

Very few in the Championship so far - any before half-time? Moments away...

  70. DISALLOWED GOAL (Koita - Blackburn)

    Blackburn 0-1 Cardiff

Bengali-Fode Koita thinks he's got the equaliser but his header's been disallowed!

Offside, says the assistant referee. A let off for Cardiff.

  71. Post update

    Blackburn 0-1 Cardiff

Adam Henley wins a corner with a surging run but it's all a bit sporadic from the home side. There's not much going on up top although Bengali-Fode Koita's looked bright.

Can he snatch a leveller before the break? Just under five to play at Ewood.

  72. Post update

    Ipswich 0-0 Burnley

Another good chance for Sean Dyche's Burnley at Ipswich. George Boyd and Sam Vokes linked up well to set up Michael Kightly who tried to sidefoot the ball into the corner.

But he can only shoot at Bartosz Bialkowski and the Ipswich goalkeeper fumbles the shot but gets away with it. Still goalless at Portman Road.

  73. Post update

    Huddersfield 0-1 Brighton

Sam Baldock's causing havoc at the back for Brighton - Joe Murphy with another stop down low to keep him out.

The league leaders dominating at Huddersfield. Three out of three?

  74. League One Update

  75. League One update

Port Vale have levelled away to Swindon while Coventry are looking like extending their 100% record at home to Crewe - Tony Mowbray's side are 1-0 up.

Big shout to Bury and Fleetwood who are spreading the excitement with two goals apiece so far at Gigg Lane.

  76. CLOSE!

    Blackburn 0-1 Cardiff

Anthony Pilkington's shot is deflected and spins just over the bar. Cardiff almost doubling their lead.

Blackburn have been looking most dangerous through Bangaly-Fode Koita - he's full of running with his side one down.

  77. Post update

    MK Dons 0-0 Bolton

Bolton's Zach Clough tries to provide some inspiration in their game at MK Dons. A jinking run sees him glide past four home defenders but Darren Potter makes a vital interception before Clough can get a shot away.

The greatly-named Prince-Desir Gouano has also headed wide for the visitors.

  78. Post update

    Blackburn 0-1 Cardiff

Joe Mason has scored more goals against Blackburn than any other side in his league career - four in total.

Cardiff looking comfortable since his latest.

  79. National League update

The most exciting match of the night so far is at Lincoln where the hosts went 2-0 behind inside six minutes against Macclesfield, but are now 3-2 up after 26 minutes. The fans are getting good value for money there.

Elsewhere, Dover, Altrincham, Braintree, Chester, Wrexham, Gateshead and Eastleigh are all winning.

  80. Post update

    Derby 0-1 Middlesbrough

That's another decent chance for Boro.

George Friend threatens with his head this time, looping over the bar from a Grant Leadbitter corner.

  81. Post update

    Huddersfield 0-1 Brighton

Brighton area looking good at Huddersfield. There's great link-up play between Tomer Hemed and Sam Baldock but Joe Murphy is out quickly to smother.

That's what a couple of wins can do for your confidence. Three out of three for them as it stands.

  82. CLOSE!

    Derby 0-1 Middlesbrough

Chris Martin comes close to levelling for Derby - his header from a Stephen Warnock cross loops over the bar.

That Kike goal's really livened things up

  83. League One update

Swindon's goal at home to Port Vale is taking them joint top of League One as it stands.

Leaders Coventry and Rochdale are both drawing, at home to Crewe and Walsall respectively.

  84. CLOSE!

    Nottingham Forest 0-0 Charlton Athletic

Charlton have taken four points from their first two games and have just missed a great chance to take the lead at the City Ground. Morgan Fox's cross finds Simon Makienok unmarked at the back post but he wastes the opportunity by heading over.

  85. CLOSE!

    Derby 0-1 Middlesbrough

    Kike again!

Scott Carson watches on as the Spaniard's header sails just wide. Brilliant cross from Stewart Downing on the left.

He was six yards out, Kike, tried to put it across the 'keeper, but just misjudged it.

  86. League Two update

Tom Elliott's strike has put AFC Wimbledon in front against Cambridge United in the only goal so far in the 12 League Two matches.

Come on lads, let's have some more goals.

  87. Derby 0-1 Middlesbrough

    Kike (16 mins)

Honestly, I really did not set that one up for myself.

Boro lead with their first shot on goal - it's Spaniard Kike who steals in to meet a George Friend deflected shot and fire into the far corner.

His third goal in two games.

  88. Post update

    Derby 0-0 Middlesbrough

Plenty of crisp passing but no goals to report from the evening's standout fixture.

    So far.

  89. Post update

    Huddersfield 0-1 Brighton

Beram Kayal got the quickest goal in the Champioship since April 2014 to put league leaders Brighton ahead and has been threatening again.

His fierce low drive is deflected wide for a corner - brilliant run too, to get into a shooting position.

Huddersfield hanging on a bit here.

  90. Post update

    Blackburn 0-1 Cardiff

Blackburn started brighter but went behind and are coming back strong now.

David Marshall has to show a good pair of hands to keep out Bangaly-Fode Koita's header.

  91. Did you miss it?

    Huddersfield 0-1 Brighton

  92. Post update

    Derby 0-0 Middlesbrough

Jeff Hendrick has tested Dimi's hands in the Middlesbrough goal with a speculative shot but it's level pegging still at Derby.

Which of these promotion-fancied sides will blink first?

  93. HITS THE WOODWORK - Sam Vokes (Burnley)

    Ipswich 0-0 Burnley

An early let-off for the hosts at Portman Road as Burnley hit the post. Sam Vokes, recalled to the starting line-up tonight, fires a shot at goal, but it hits the woodwork with the ball then bouncing into the arms of Town goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski.

  94. Blackburn 0-1 Cardiff

    Joe Mason (5 mins)

And another early goal! David Raya's clearance is poor and the home side are punished.

Joe Mason steals in to meet a Lee Peltier pass and nicks the ball over the 'keeper.

  95. Huddersfield 0-1 Brighton

    Beram Kayal (1 min)

The Seagulls' brilliant start to the Championship season continues!

Beram Kayal has got time and space on the edge of the box to fire home. Brighton are off to an absolute flyer - clocked at 17 seconds.

  96. Post update

    Peterborough 0-1 Sheff Utd

On-loan striker  Conor Sammon gets the first goal of the night at Peterborough.

Sheffield United lead in that one but they got going a good 15 minutes ago.

So far so quiet in the Championship...

  97. KICK-OFF

    Huddersfield v Brighton (19:45 BST)

Will it be three in a row for Championship leaders Brighton? They've already seen off Nottingham Forest and Fulham so far.

Huddersfield are still looking for their first win of the season - having followed up an opening-day defeat at Hull with a draw at home to Blackburn.

Kick off moments away around the country.

  100. Not him again

Nottingham Forest v Charlton Athletic (19:45 BST)

  101. Bristol City offer big money for Gray

    Andre Gray

The big Championship transfer story of the day is Bristol City's £9m bid for Brentford striker Andre Gray.

Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gayle's already turned them down, but what about Gray?

The Robins' previous transfer record is £2.25m paid to Crewe for Nicky Maynard in 2008...

  102. Computer says no

Whatever you're up to this evening, spare a thought for the Carlisle fans who are undertaking the 779-mile round trip to watch their team play at Plymouth.

    Carlisle - Plymouth

"It's not fair on the supporters, having to travel long distances on a Tuesday night," Argyle manager Derek Adams told BBC Devon.

"You can tell the computer system that and the computer system won't listen. It's not up to individuals."

If you're one of the hardy few brave enough to take the journey on, we'd love to hear from you.

You can tweet using #bbcfootball, or text us on 81111.

  103. Post update

    Peterborough 0-0 Sheffield United

So Peterborough and Sheffield United are already under way - it's goalless there at the moment.

  115. When Aitor met Paul

    Derby v Middlesbrough (19:45 BST)

    Paul Clement and Aitor Karanka

Here's Derby manager Paul Clement's thoughts on the tie against Boro: “I’ve not met Aitor before so I’m looking forward to meeting him.

“He left just as I arrived at Real Madrid but I understand he’s a terrific guy. I know he is close friends with Fernando Hierro, who I worked with last year.

“The fact we are playing one of our rivals is important and a victory will give us lots of confidence.”

    And what about Aitor?

"Paul reminds me of when I arrived here," Karanka said.

“It’s not the same from being an assistant to being a manager and he needs time, but I’m sure he’s going to be a successful manager.

"We both need the three points so we have to remember the last game and know how good we played that day, because it’s going to be just as difficult."

  116. Good evening and welcome

    Derby v Middlesbrough (19:45 BST)

We're just two games into the season - and it's only Paul Clement's third game in charge of a football club - but tonight's result should still give us an early idea about which of these two promotion-fancied sides will be up there in May.

Last season it was Aitor Karanka's Boro who tasted disappointment and defeat in the Championship play-off final. The year before, it was Derby.

For the moment though, it's all niceties between the two managers...

    Paul Clement

It's not often a Tuesday night in the Championship boasts such strong connections with Real Madrid.

But this evening two former Madrid assistants meet in the standout fixture at Derby, where Rams boss Paul Clement welcome's Aitor Karanka's Middlesbrough.

And that's not all we've got lined up for you tonight either. Oh no.

There's also six more second-tier fixtures, including league leaders' Brighton's trip to Huddersfield, seven League One ties and a full schedule in League Two.
