  1. Post update

Anyway, after 19 hours of live text from myself, Gary Rose and Marc Higginson we're all done.

You can continue the chat in Sportsday Live which will start again in just a few hours. Until then, good night/good morning...

  2. Post update

It's been a massive summer outlay for Manchester United and Louis van Gaal.

His squad now almost leaves him no room for error or excuse. With such an array of talent he must surely have to deliver a top-four finish. Surely?

  3. Post update

    Man Utd

BBC Sport's Simon Stone: "Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind and Radamel Falcao have all made reference to United being "the biggest club in the world." After a record summer outlay of almost £150m, now they have to prove it."

    Man Utd

Here's some more info on the news that Manchester United have signed Colombia striker Radamel Falcao.

They have signed him on a £6m season-long loan deal from Monaco.

Falcao had been linked during the summer with a move away from the French Ligue 1 side, whom he joined for £50m in May 2013.

The 28-year-old scored 11 goals in 20 league appearances for Monaco, and two in three games this season.

  5. Text us on 81111

Ben: Ridiculous, two months to sign players, deadline shuts at 11pm, a two-hour extension to 1AM, yet the deal has been completed 30 minutes after the extension.

Chris, London: Surely £300,000+ per week is enough to buy a watch? It'll definitely buy goals though.

  6. Join the debate at #bbcdeadlineday

Aidan Williams: Make or break season now more than ever. Last time they can sign this kind of calibur without significant league improvement

Dave Scott: Falcao is no way an expensive luxury! He would be an asset to any team he's apart of!

    Darren Bateman: No Heskey?

  8. Manager reaction

    Man Utd

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal; "When a player of Radamel Falcao's calibre becomes available it's an opportunity not to be missed."

    Man Utd

    Radamel Falcao

So Manchester United finally secure the signing of Radamel Falcao from Monaco. A cracking move? An expensive luxury? A player they didn't need?

  10. BreakingDONE DEAL

    Radamel Falcao

Manchester United sign Radamel Falcao on a one-year loan deal.

Richard in Telford: Think Welbeck should have gone for 20m on potential alone and slightly concerned Van Gaal is so willing to cast of our young English players

  17. Post update

    Man Utd

Michael Keane is not the only Manchester United player to leave the club tonight - and he won't be the last. Two more exits set to be confirmed soon....

  18. Post update

Louis van Gaal has had a total clearout of the youth team/reserves at Old Trafford hasn't he? Michael Keane is on his way. The 21-year-old was never going to break through at United and is off to the Clarets.

  19. BreakingDONE DEAL

Burnley have signed Manchester United defender Michael Keane on loan.

  20. Post update

Stand by for another done deal...

  21. Post update

    Man Utd

BBC Sport's Simon Stone: "Manchester United have three-quarters of an hour to confirm Falcao's arrival earlier than they managed with Marouane Fellaini 12 months ago.

"On that occasion it was just after 2am that they announced the Belgian had signed from Everton for £27m."

  22. Post update

The jury is out on this deal then...

Andy via text: £16m for an unprolific forward who has never played regularly as a centre forward could be considered as being a bit much. Manchester United look like they are the winners in this Danny Welbeck deal.

Eli in London via text: Sorry to see Danny Welbeck leave Manchester United, but deep down he'll always be a Red.

Martin in Stafford via text: Seems to me like Arsenal have got themselves a bargain. Danny Welbeck has masses of potential and if this deal turns out to be anything like the Daniel Sturridge move from Chelsea to Liverpool then Man United might just kick themselves for letting him go.

  24. Post update

When I woke up this morning I do not think I would have imagined Danny Welbeck being an Arsenal player by the end of the day. That's the beauty of Transfer Deadline Day though.

Daniel Handley: How on earth do we end up letting Welbeck, Hernandez and Kagawa go and end up keeping Anderson, Fellaini and Young?

Pitmen Barmy Army: That's an start! One of the two, hurry up Falcao then I can go sleeeeppppp.

Chris Komorek: I will admit, I'm slightly concerned that Danny Welbeck will go on and do a Daniel Sturridge and star for Arsenal.

  27. Check the list

Welbeck is in meaning we just wait on news of Radamel Falcao.

  28. BreakingDONE DEAL

    Danny Welbeck

Arsene Wenger insisted he didn't need a striker but anyone who saw Yaya Sanogo toil at Leicester can tell you that's not the case. Danny Welbeck was not exactly prolific for Manchester United - scoring 29 goals in 142 appearances - but that's 29 more than Sanogo.

  29. Get involved and text us on 81111

Pete in Greenwich via text: "All the people saying that Danny Welbeck is not worth the money need to realise he is exactly what Arsenal are looking for."

  30. Welbeck signs

Arsenal confirm that Danny Welbeck is currently on international duty with England and will then join up with his new team-mates to prepare for the Premier League home match against Manchester City on Saturday, 13 September.

  31. Welbeck signs

Danny Welbeck at Arsenal then - that just leaves Radamel Falcao to Manchester United as his replacement...

  32. BreakingDONE DEAL

Arsenal confirm the signing of Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck.

  33. Post update

    Hang on. Here we go...

  34. Text us on 81111

    Hatem Ben Arfa

Tarun in Hoxton: Though he may not yet realise it, Alan Pardew should be informed that Hatem Ben Arfa's signature on Hull City headed letter paper will be his kiss of death. The boy Ben Arfa did not defend, but on his day he could stop the traffic at Old Trafford and make it rain in the Gallowgate. As a Newcastle fan, I hope that Steve Bruce makes Hatem dream again.

Pete in Newcastle: Ben Arfa deal has gone through and my heart is broken. I hope hull treat him better than we have in the last few months!

  35. How would you line up?

    Man Utd

    Danny Murphy's line-up
    Phil Neville's line-up

Football Focus pundits Phil Neville and Danny Murphy have had a go at fitting all Manchester United's new signings into a team. What do you think?

Michael Carrick may need some new legs if Louis van Gaal goes with Phil Neville's suggestion...

  36. Post update

Hatem Ben Arfa will stay with Hull until the end of the season. Good business in my book. Well done Steve Bruce.

  37. BreakingDONE DEAL

    Hull City

    Hatem Ben Arfa

Hull have finalised the loan signing of winger Hatem Ben Arfa from Newcastle.

  38. Post update

Hang on - we have a done deal!

  39. What is gong on?

Clubs sometimes conclude deals at the last minute and it is not always easy for them to get everything completed and sent over by 11pm. The so called 'deal sheet' allows a club to confirm that a deal has been reached in order to allow for additional time to submit the remaining documentation.

The sheet cannot be used prior to 21:00 BST and needs to arrive fully completed before the transfer window closes. Once the sheet arrives, clubs have got until 1am to submit the full paperwork.

So technically Arsenal still have quarter of an hour to conclude the Danny Welbeck deal...

  40. Text us on 81111

Simon in London: Biggest disappointment for me today is the lack of Ricardo Quaresma sightings. Pretty sure that guy is the most commonly 'spotted' player in the history of Transfer Deadline Day.

Karen MCR: Reading updates under bed sheets. In deep trouble if caught by my partner! Falcao you have a lot to answer for!

  41. Tennis update

While we were getting excited about Uruguayan wingers, Andy Murray saw off Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in straight sets to reach the US Open quarter-finals and claim his first top-10 win in over a year.

The Briton won 7-5 7-5 6-4 in humid conditions in New York, and goes on to face world number one Novak Djokovic in the last eight.

    Read more here.

  42. Celtic update

    BBC Sport's Alasdair Lamont

"Celtic's hopes of signing John Guidetti on loan from Manchester City look to have been scuppered. They had hoped to add the Swede as well as Stefan Scepovic but the final details could not be processed before the Scottish FA's midnight deadline.

"Although there is a possibility the SFA can appeal to Fifa over the circumstances, for the moment it looks like the Serbian Scepovic will prove to be Celtic's only deadline day acquisition."

Faisal via text: Don't worry Manchester United fans. Taxi has taken Falcao to Manchester City's stadium by accident.

  44. Today's big deals

    Abel Hernandez

While we wait for the two big ones - here are some more big ones you may have missed:

Hull City have signed Uruguay striker Abel Hernandez from Palermo for a club-record fee, thought to be £10m

Crystal Palace have broken their transfer record by spending £7m to make Wigan midfielder James McArthur one of three deadline-day signings.

Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez has joined Spanish side Real Madrid on a season-long loan.

Manchester City's Micah Richards has ended his 12-year stay at the club by joining Fiorentina on a season-long loan deal.

Tottenham midfielder Lewis Holtby has signed for Hamburg on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent move.

For a full list of confirmed transfers throughout the day, visit our dedicated page on the BBC Sport website.

  45. Celtic latest

Where did Celtic get to in the end then?

They have completed the £2.3m signing of Serbia striker Stefan Scepovic from Sporting Gijon.

The 24-year-old has agreed a four-year contract just 24 hours after withdrawing from an agreement with the Scottish champions.

But a switch to Getafe collapsed, allowing Celtic to land the forward who scored 22 goals in the Spanish second tier last season.

Celtic are also working on a deal to sign Manchester City's John Guidetti.

    Here's a poser for you.

Peter West: Literally on the edge of my seat. Falcao ain't gonna solve defensive the problems but Radamel-Van-Rooney just sounds sweet.

Rickesh Chohan: I'm not sure why Borini wants to stay at Liverpool... He can't get into the first team a smaller club would be good for him.

  129. Top, top, top, top, top, top, lad

New QPR signing Sandro posts the following message on his Facebook page: "I'd like to thank Tottenham Hotspur for everything they've done for me. Spurs has been my home since I moved to England and I loved every minute of my time there.

"To the fans, I'll always have a special relationship with you and can't begin to express how much your support has meant to me, particularly in tough times when I was injured.

"I can't wait to get started at QPR now and look forward to wearing the famous hoops for the first time."

Chris, Man Utd fan in London: Transfer deadline day should be a public holiday.

Tony, a Spurs fan: Can't believe we sold Sandro! Come on Spurs we need a striker.

Mark in Canterbury: Arsenal should get the double from Man U and get Welbeck and Cleverley. Would add some great depth to the squad!

  131. Where's Falcao?

Has anyone seen Radamel Falcao? He had agreed a loan move to Manchester United before I'd got out of bed this morning - and he's still not signed up!

  132. Post update

    Man City

    Micah Richards

Daily Telegraph football correspondent Henry Winter: Good luck to Micah Richards on his move to Fiorentina. As Vincent Kompany always says, more English players should go abroad, developing.

Ben Jones: The embarrassing thing for United is they aren't now just trying to buy the title, but buy top 4!

Nick: I doubt Falcao to Man Utd will go through. Same thing happened with Coentrao last season. All the talk, then nothing.

Didier Dixon: Cracking signing for QPR though Sandro. Someone to sit in that three-man midfield letting the others move forward.

  134. BreakingDONE DEAL

Interesting move for Celtic who have signed Serbia international Stefan Scepovic from Sporting Gijon.

Scepovic had decided against an agreed move to the Scottish champions late on Sunday.

But a switch to Getafe has collapsed and Celtic welcomed him back with open arms...

  135. Post update

Some meat on the bones of that Micah Richards deal. BBC Sport understands Fiorentina paid £3.5m to take the defender on loan for a season and will have to fork out another £4.7m if they want to make the move permanent next summer.

Liam John Taylor: Spurs need a striker, cannot rely on Soldado and Adebayor.

Nick Kelly: Blind is a great signing for United, feel a bit safer with him at the back but we're crying out for 4-3-3 or 4-1-2-1-2.

Nick Locke: Harry Redknapp made moves for Defoe & Kranjcar?! He does know it's real life and not a dusty old copy of Football Manager?!

John in Blackpool: Blackpool - no signings. We will be going down. Oyston a disgrace. Will be lucky if Riga stays.

Brian in Bolton: We are short on strikers and other positions and all we have are rumours on Beckford to Fulham. It's just ridiculous!

    Italian Serie A

BBC World Service's Steve Crossman: "The deadline has passed in Italy, one deal was done just before the 2200 cut off.

"20-year-old striker Luka Djordjevic has signed for Sampdoria from Zenit Saint Petersburg. He was on loan at FC Twente last season and he's a full Montenegro international.

"He is now guaranteed forever more to be prefixed by "genius last minute signing" or "panic buy" depending on how well the next few months go."

Ben Salmon: Happy for Welbeck. Shame it's not Spurs but he deserves to be a Prem starter. Paves the way for James Wilson on the bench.

Murtaza Ali Khan: Clubs must learn from Atletico Madrid. Good business and filled voids with Griezmann, Mandzukic, Rodriguez and now Cerci.

Mike Ash: My girlfriend doesn't understand the importance and significance of Transfer Deadline Day!

  146. What about Welbeck?

    Man Utd

    Danny Welbeck

Will Danny Welbeck seal his move to Arsenal in the next hour? Has Radamel Falcao agreed a move to United? Does anyone else have the urge to watch Back to the Future...?

  147. Text us on 81111

Alex James: Welbeck was far from my first choice wish for Arsenal but he's better than Sanogo, so I'll give him a chance for us.

Ed in Southampton: Any news on Bolton? All I've seen is rumours Beckford's wanted, and an interview with Kevin Davies. Not what I wanted from deadline day!

Andy in Huddersfield: C'mon Huddersfield Town, make my day - sign someone!

  148. Post update

    Stoke City

Sounds like Oussama Assaidi is about to seal his move from Liverpool to Stoke...

  149. Sandro on his way?

    BBC Radio 5 live

QPR manager Harry Redknapp tells BBC Radio 5 live: "We have got Sandro from Tottenham. We tried to get one or two others and made a big effort to get Jermain Defoe. He wanted to come home but there was no way Toronto would release him before their play-offs. We also wanted Fabio Borini but his wage demands were way out of our league.

"Niko Kranjcar has dropped a third of his wages to come back here and play. I like the look of us now and I think we've got a real chances of staying in this division."

Douglas One: Very disappointed to see the beast (Negredo) moving on after just one year. I very much hope someone pulls out last minute.

Joe Jackson: Hull are doing alright aren't they! Couple of cracking Uruguayans and potentially a seriously under-rated Frenchman!

Katie Edwards: Connor Wickham, Carlton Cole, Harry Kane or even Defoe - One of these is the Striker Candidate for Palace.

  151. The final hour

    Great Scott

Here we go then. The last hour. The final push.

    • Crystal Palace sign £7m James McArthur
    • Holtby leaves Spurs for Hamburg on loan
    • Micah Richards is close to a move to Fiorentina
    • Burnley sign Chalobah
  152. Going global

BBC Sport's Simon Stone: "Manchester United will lose a link with home if Danny Welbeck completes his £16m move to Arsenal.

"For Longsight-born Welbeck is the only Mancunian remaining amongst the senior players in the United first-team squad.

"Welbeck caught the attention of club scouts when he was just six years old and joined their academy when he was eight.

"Since then, Nicky Butt has joined Newcastle - by true definition the remainder of the Class of 92 are not Mancunians - and Wes Brown has moved to Sunderland."

  153. Deadline day: The player's view

Current Preston forward Kevin Davies: "If you have a wife or children in school then you have to carefully consider a move. I have an understanding and intelligent wife. She asked me to do what I wanted to do towards the latter half of my career.

"When you're playing and happy then you don't see a reason to leave. You want your phone to be ringing on deadline day when you're not involved with the team. You want to be playing football and want to play as many games as you can.

"A new guy can come in and you can be out of favour - you have to be ready to drop everything."

  154. Post update

Christian Codswurthy: £800m is an unbelievable figure, can we break 1 billion? Vidal, Hummels and Strootman anyone?

Kevin Layfield: Can't believe MUFC are letting Danny Welbeck go to a Premier League rival. No bids for Peter Cech? Very surprising that.

Karlito Franz: Welbeck is slippery, smart and fast. He'll score loads of goals. Last laugh?
