  1. Post update

That's us done for the day.

Myself and Adam will be back tomorrow from 10:15 BST.

Whisper it quietly, but I think we may get a full day's cricket in... the forecast is pretty decent.

    See you then.

  2. Post update

    Somerset 301 v Essex 0-0 - stumps, day two

So, a real topsy-turvy second day in this Bob Willis Trophy final.

Eddie Byrom and Craig Overton's sixth-wicket stand of 127 put Somerset in a commanding position, but Essex then ran through the tail with the new ball.

After another day of rain interruptions, this game looks set to go all the way into a fifth day on Sunday.

  3. Close of play

    Somerset 301 v Essex 0-0

And that is indeed stumps. A wholly bizarre end to a thoroughly entertaining day's cricket.

  4. Post update

    Somerset 301 v Essex 0-0

And that'll surely be the close.

  5. Bad light stops play

    Somerset 301 v Essex 0-0

    Jack Leach

Madness! Everyone is out in the middle, the light meters come out, and off they go. What's all that about?

  6. Post update

    Somerset 301 v Essex 0-0

Somerset's players are making their way back out, so it looks like Essex will have three overs to face.

    The floodlights are beaming brightly.

  7. Post update

Somerset 301 all out v Essex

It's gone very dark once again at Lord's.

If Essex do come out to bat, Nick Browne and Alastair Cook will have three overs to face.

    It's touch and go.

Brooks b Harmer 0 (Somerset 301 all out)

    Gone first ball!

Jack Brooks tries to drive Simon Harmer, misses, and the ball clatters into his stumps.

That's a fine comeback from Essex - they've taken Somerset's last five wickets for 35 runs.

  9. 'To get 300 is very satisfactory'

    Vic Marks

Ex-England spinner on BBC Radio 5 live Sports Extra

Somerset will be more content tonight then they were last night.

To get to 300 is very satisfactory and they mostly have Byrom and Overton to thank for that.

  10. WICKET

    Leach lbw b Harmer 2 (Somerset 301-9)

Simon Harmer comes back on and takes a wicket!

From around the wicket the Essex spinner pins Jack Leach on the pad and he's sent on his way.

    Simon Harmer
  11. Somerset 301-8

    Davey 17, Leach 2

Josh Davey clips Jamie Porter to the mid-wicket fence and that's the 300 up for Somerset.

Does that make them favourites for this Bob Willis Trophy with their potent pace attack?

  12. 'Not sure which team is on top'

    Ravi Bopara

Former Essex and England all-rounder on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

It's been fair game, I'm not sure who is on top, you'll only know when both teams have finished batting to know who is in prime position.

  13. Somerset 296-8

    S Cook 32-10-76-5

A 10th maiden from the highly-impressive Sam Cook.

And that's 100 overs gone in the Somerset innings.

Seven to go tonight as the players take a sanitisation break.

  14. Somerset 296-8

    Davey 13, Leach 2

Jamie Porter concedes just a leg-bye off the over.

Eight overs to go tonight. I'm not sure the Essex openers will be too fussed if Somerset see them out... nothing to gain from batting now!

  15. Somerset 295-8

    Davey 13, Leach 2

Somerset are creeping up towards 300. Even though they've lost those three quick wickets, surely they'll feel happy with a first-innings score of 300 or above?

Number 11 Jack Brooks is waiting to come in...

    Jack Brooks
  16. Somerset 292-8

    Davey 11, Leach 2

    Fantastic batting from Josh Davey!

The Somerset number nine punches Jamie Porter down the ground for four and follows it with a punchy pull to the rope.

He finishes the over with a single as 10 come off it.

  17. Somerset 282-8

    S Cook 30-9-74-5

Over number 30 for Sam Cook is a maiden.

The Essex paceman is only 23, but he'll have some sore limbs tonight!

  18. Somerset 282-8

    Davey 2, Leach 1

Jack Leach is the new man in at 10 for Somerset.

Gutsy batsman is Jack... anyone remember his 92 in an England shirt against Ireland last year? Seems a lifetime ago to be fair!

  19. 'Good five-fer from Cook'

    Ravi Bopara

Former Essex and England all-rounder on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

It's been so well deserved from Sam Cook.

It's a good five-fer, there are some fifers and then there are good fifers and he's had proper dismissals.

  20. WICKET

    Gregory lbw b S Cook 9 (Somerset 279-8)

Sam Cook gets his fifth wicket!

Essex are running riot with the new ball. Lewis Gregory tries to smite the seamer through the leg side, misses, and is out lbw.

That's three wickets with the new cherry, and the game has been turned on its head in the past 10 minutes.
