Live Reporting

By Ben Pheazey and Adam Williams

All times stated are UK

  1. Over and out

With the draw confirmed at Guildford and the Sussex and Gloucestershire players off for rain at Arundel, we're calling time on our BBC Text Commentary service for now.

You can keep up-to-date on the score of our one active Championship game (Glamorgan v Derbyshire) at Swansea on our scores and fixtures tab, BBC Radio Wales and our online commentary service.

A reminder that our full text commentary returns on Monday for the next round of County Championship matches and Paul Grunill will keep across the two games that begin on Sunday - Essex v Hampshire in Division One and Middlesex v Glamorgan in Division Two.

Until then have a very pleasant (and dry) evening. Cheerio!

  2. 150 for Billy Godleman

    Glam 394 v Derbys 375-3 -trail by 19

Billy Godleman works Lukas Carey to square leg for one and that's his 150.

    229 balls and 19 fours.

    Billy Godleman
  3. Rain stops play at Arundel

    Sussex 351-8 dec v Gloucs 146-3

And just one over later we're off for rain!

  4. 50 for Gareth Roderick

    Sussex 351-8 dec v Gloucs 145-3 - trail by 205

Shot! Gareth Roderick drives Briggs over his head for an 88-ball 50. Six fours.

Three more runs come from Chris Jordan's over at the other end.

    Surrey 313 v Yorks 148 & 30-0 f/o

A bit of mist and drizzle in the air, or "mizzle" if you like.

The light meter is coming out again... And we're playing on.

A draw wouldn't be a bad result for Yorkshire, who lost their only two previous games here in 1991 and 2002.

Lyth blocks out Patel. Light meter time again!

They're coming off and they players are shaking hands on a draw.

  6. WICKET Lace c Morgan b Wagg 143

    Glam 394 v Derbys 365-3 - trail by 29

The end of a fine knock by Tom Lace.

The batsman pulls a Graham Wagg long hop straight to Owen Morgan in the deep.

But the game is safe now, surely.

  7. Yorkshire following on in final session of play

    Surrey 313 v Yorks 148 & 24-0 f/o

    Maiden over from Ryan Patel.

Rikki Clarke strikes Lyth on the thigh pad with a nip-backer.

The opener grits his teeth and plays out a maiden.

That might have struck the inner thigh, actually.

  8. WICKET Dent c Brown b Jordan 59

    Sussex 351-8 dec v Gloucs 132-3 - trail by 219

Horrid dismissal. Chris Dent follows a leg-side ball from Chris Jordan and feather it to the keeper.

    Over to you, Benny Howell.

  9. Play resumes at Guildford

    Surrey 313 v Yorks 148 & 24-0 f/o

25 overs left as it stands.

Ryan Patel will bowl to Will Fraine. Can he get the breakthrough?

  10. Play to restart shortly at Guildford

    Surrey 313 v Yorks 148 & 24-0 f/o

Supposedly play will resume in a minute here.

I don't like the look of those clouds, though.

  11. Solid start for Gloucestershire

    Sussex 351-8 dec v Sussex 128-2 - trail by 223

Roderick gets a thin edge low and wide of the slips and runs a single.

    That's the 3rd wicket 50 partnership in 125 balls.

Just the one run off Robinson at the other end.

Next up, Sakande drops short and Roderick pulls from outside off through square leg for four.

  12. Evening session begins at Swansea

    Glam 394 v Derbys 355-2 - trail by 39

Godleman has survived three catching chances in this innings and returns to the middle on 143 not out.

his 18th first class ton was the fastest of his career, by the way. 141 balls.

Tom Lace has 137. 37 overs left and the new ball is two overs away.

    David Lloyd will bowl.

  13. Bad light stops play at Guildford

    Surrey 313 v Yorks 148 & 24-0 f/o

And we're off. Or are we?

Well, the players are going off and the umpires are still in the middle.

So technically we're off. For now.

  14. Surrey press for breakthrough

    Surrey 313 v Yorks 148 & 24-0 - f/o

Surrey's Matt Dunn is getting Fraine to play just about every ball in this spell, but the batsman is playing a good anchor role so far.

The last ball is on leg stump and flicked away for Fraine's first four.

Adam Lyth picks Rikki Clarke's slower ball and drives for four.

The light meter is coming out again...

  15. Gloucestershire batting at Arundel

    Sussex 351-8 dec v Gloucs 113-2 - trail by 238

Roderick flicks Sakande to square leg for one to take Gloucestershire to 100 in the 36th over.

At the other end, Ollie Robinson strays down leg and Gareth Roderick helps it round the corner for four.

A single to Roderick and another leg-side ball brings Chris Dent an easy boundary.

A bit of rain in the air now, I'm afraid - but we'll play on for now.

  16. Yorkshire under pressure at Guildford

    Surrey 313 v Yorks 148 & 12-0 f/o

Adam Lyth picks up four with a careful push through gully off Morkel.

At the other end, Fraine leaves Dunn alone outside off, then drives at the fifth ball but can't get it past cover.

Another leave and another over ticks by. 32 overs left.

  17. Derbyshire take a fourth batting point

    Glam 394 v Derbys 355-2 - trail by 39

Lace picks up a couple of leg byes off Lloyd to take Derbyshire to 350.

Labuschagne bowls round the wicket and the batsmen trade singles.

That's tea - and a great session for Derbyshire, who have taken complete control of this match and surely taken defeat out of the equation.

  18. Play resumes at Arundel

    Sussex 351-8 dec v Gloucs 96-2 - trail by 255

It's a breezy afternoon but there's no rain.

Gareth Roderick and Chris Dent are back in the middle.

Danny Briggs will bowl and conditions permitting we have 41 overs to bowl.

  19. Yorkshire following on at Guildford

    Surrey 313 v Yorks 148 & 5-0 f/o

Maiden from Morne Morkel, who gets the ball to nip back off the seam straight away.

Matt Dunn takes the new nut from the Railway End. And the umpires take a light meter reading.

We're playing on. Fraine leaves outside off at first and then jabs down a bumper.

The fourth ball is cut up and over the slips for four. Risky. A single off the last ball.

  20. final session begins at Guildford

    Surrey 313 v Yorks 148 & 0-0 - f/o

This could and should be a very tough session of batting.

Yorkshire (3rd in the table before this game) need to bat out time and Surrey will push as hard as they can for their first championship win of the season.

In theory 38 overs are left. Morkel will bowl to Lyth and Will Fraine is at the non-striker's end.
