    Table

Pakistan finish fifth. Bangladesh will come seventh, barring a South Africa win on Saturday against Australia. That feels a little harsh on the Tigers. They have impressed.

Tomorrow is the final day of the group stage with India also playing Sri Lanka.

The top four is confirmed now. It is just about who meets who in the semi-finals.

  5. Post update

Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed: "Unfortunately we played very good cricket in the last four matches but we have not qualified.

"Only the one match will cost us in the whole tournament [against West Indies]. We played very good cricket. The way we responded after India, we played very well in all three - batting, fielding and bowling.

"We need to sit down together. We have almost two months off. We have to do lots of work with our team.

"The way Shaheen is bowling is very good. Today it was one of the best bowling performances I have seen in a long time."

Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza:"You need partnerships and it didn't happen. We feel very sorry for Shakib that we couldn't support him all through the tournament otherwise things could have been very different, he has been fantastic.

"Fielding has been costing a lot. Batting has been fantastic throughout the tournament."

(On his future)"I go home and think about it now. Thanks to all our supporters, hopefully next time we will make them happy."

You can't argue with that decision but it's not often a player makes his first World Cup century at Lord's and doesn't win man of the match.

Imam-ul-Haq played really werll before falling in unusual fashion for 100...

They will be frustrated, they will look back at that match against West Indies. But Pakistan did everything right in this game. If you'd told them they'd win five they'd have expected to go through.

The Pakistan players have formed a guard of honour for veteran Shoaib Malik at the bottom of the Lord's steps.

They look delighted with the win.

It wasn't enough to overhaul New Zealand in fourth place because of their inferior net run-rate but Pakistan finish fifth on 11 points.

Fantastic to see that from Shaheen, the single best bowling from a Pakistan bowler in the World Cup, immense control, getting that swing at an angle, it's one of the most difficult balls to face. I go back to Shoaib Akhtar, slings it in at an angle. It's the pace, the length and the angle with that late swing.
