Wins for Notts Outlaws and Sussex Sharks over Yorkshire and Middlesex respectively sealed their places in the quarter-finals.

Hales leads way for Notts

What was all the fuss about? The T20 Blast champions have made it through but Notts Outlaws did it the hard way after a tough start to life in the North Group.

They needed three wins from their final three matches and a masterful unbeaten 71 from Alex Hales saw them earn an eight-wicket win against Yorkshire, with a fair bit of help from Tom Moores.

We are still waiting for a result from Glamorgan, where Surrey are well set in their run chase.

The players are currently off because of rain.

But the result of that match is fairly irrelevant now as neither side can qualify for the last eight following Sussex's victory over Middlesex.

Sussex win by 31 runs

Sussex may be relieved they got over the line in that one.

Middlesex made a brilliant start to their run chase, with Paul Stirling (58 from 29) and John Simpson (62 off 29) smacking the ball around the ground.

But Will Beer picked up both of those wickets as the visitors went from 123-1 to 132-3.

Then, after Eoin Morgan was run out, Middlesex's middle order collapsed.

Danny Briggs, Tymal Mills and Chris Archer then took two wickets each to help warp up the innings.

Sussex may have been without star spinner Rashid Khan, recalled by Afghanistan, but made the last eight through a team performance.

Quarter-final draw

So, with the eight qualifiers now known, here is the quarter-final line-up...

• Somerset v Notts Outlaws

The matches will be played from Thursday, 23 August until Sunday, 26 August, with the order yet to be confirmed.

Kent earn home tie

Kent finish second in the South Group after beating Essex at Chelmsford.

They'll play Lancashire Lightning at home in the quarter-finals.

The Sharks have won three matches this week to qualify for the quarter-finals of this competition for the first time since 2015.

That is pretty much it for Middlesex.

James Harris takes a single from the first ball, leaving Middlesex needed 33 from 5 to win.

Chris Jordan responds with two dot balls and then bowls Nathan Sowter.

Tom Barber is the last man in.

Worcestershire top North Group

Worcestershire have won at Edgbaston - they finish top of the North Group.

It looks likely they'll play Sussex at New Road in the quarter-final.

Middlesex 183-8 (19 overs - target 216)

James Harris takes a single and then Nathan Sowter manages to get four runs off Sussex paceman Jofra Archer.

Archer then beats Sowter with a slower ball before the visitors end the over with two singles.

Middlesex need an unlikely 33 runs from the final over to win the match and deny Sussex a place in the last eight of the T20 Blast.

Tymal Mills is back on and loves bowling to tailenders

There are two dot balls and two singles in his first four deliveries.

It looked like there might be a run-out but James Harris survives it despite charging down the wicket.

Then Harris gets a single to finish the over.

21:20 BST is the cut-off to start the final over, but Sussex are almost home.

What a way to finish. The T20 champions are through to the quarter-finals with back-to back sixes from Tom Moores getting them over the line with an over to spare.

Notts triump in the winner-takes all tussle at Headingley.

Alex Hales ends unbeaten on 71 and Moores finishes with an unbeaten 43.

James Harris gets two runs from the first ball of the over and, after a dot, helps a wide delivery to the boundary for four.

Jofra Archer responds with another dot ball.

Harris hits another away, and the ball is just short of Sussex skipper Luke Wright at deep extra cover.

Martin Andersson then tries to reverse sweep Archer, and is bowled.

A high-risk shot does not pay off.

Sussex are closing in on victory now, with the visitors needing 43 from 18 balls.

Notts Outlaws 154-2 (18 overs)

More really intelligent work by Alex Hales who runs the first ball of Matt Fisher's over down to the third man area for four.

Hales has been brilliantly measured this evening. No panicking, no flashy shots. Simple and effective.

Tom Moores has been impressive after a slow start but he's lucky to get away with that. He tried to go leg side but swats the ball up in the air only for it to fall to safety with three fielders scampering in.

Notts take seven from the over, but it's probably going to be enough. Ten needed from two overs.

Middlesex 166-7 (16 overs - target 216)

So Middlesex have lost their last four wickets for just nine runs.

Sussex have brought this firmly back into their hands now, but need to finish things off.

Middlesex need 50 from the last four overs to spoil the party. Jofra Archer has the ball for the 17th over and the Hove crowd have found their voice again.

Sussex have really pulled this back in their favour now, as James Fuller is caught at cover by Delray Rawlins.

Tymal Mills took a hat-trick against Glamorgan on Tuesday, and has delivered again for his side.

Notts Outlaws 147-2 (17 overs)

Tom Moores has got his eye in now and hits another four, while Alex Hales cannot dismiss a full bunger that goes back over the head of bowler David Willey.

Moores, back on strike, crashes a one-bounce four away but then takes a risky second run on the final ball of the over and just sneaks home.

Notts need 17 from 18 balls. Should be simple enough right?

Sussex now have the bit between their teeth.

Sussex are right back into this now following two wickets in that over by Danny Briggs.s

52 runs needed off the final five overs for Middlesex to win.

Paceman Tymal Mills is back on for the Sharks. He went for 24 in his first over early on, when Paul Stirling and John Simpson where thrashing it around Hove.
