  1. Post update

    Joe Root

So there ends another day of gripping County Championship cricket. It is nice to have all the big guns back for a little bit, hasn't it?!

I'll be back tomorrow for the conclusions at New Road, Cheltenham and Chesterfield. All three promise to be crackers.

    Until then, goodbye.

  2. Close of play at Chesterfield

    Northants 174-3 (target 314)

    That's stumps.

It's been an excellent start to the chase by Northants, capped by Alex Wakely and Richard Levi sharing an unbroken 51 late in the day.

They'll resume on Wednesday needing another 140 with seven wickets in hand. Derbyshire have plenty of work to do.

  3. Post update

    Northants 164-3 (target 314)

A couple of overs to go between Northants and Derbyshire at Chesterfield.

Are Northants slight favourites if they don't lose any more wickets tonight? Maybe.

  4. Stumps at Cheltenham

    Durham 35-0 (target 340)

And that's day three done at Gloucestershire.

What a conclusion we're in for tomorrow.

Durham need another 315 with all 10 wickets remaining. And a certain Ben Stokes to come.

  5. Post update

What a finish that was at New Road.

So, just the two games remaining late on day three - they're into the final few overs at Cheltenham and Chesterfield.

  6. WICKET

    Moeen b J Overton 7 (Worcs 50-2, target 443)

Moeen Ali is out to the final ball of day three!

Jamie Overton screams in delight as he creeps through Moeen's defences. It's an absolute jaffa from the paceman.

What a huge blow for Worcestershire. Elation for Somerset.

    And that's stumps.

    Moeen Ali
  7. Post update

    Northants 152-3 (target 314)

Northants are rollicking along at Chesterfield.

Richard Levi has come in with intent, Alex Wakely is already up to 39 - Northants need another 161. Derbyshire are hunting for seven more wickets.

    Six overs to go.

  8. Post update

    Worcestershire 45-1 (target 443)

And now Travis Head is on the attack too!

Two fours in three balls off Jamie Overton.

    Head has raced onto 32.

  9. for Moeen

    Worcestershire 37-1 (target 443)

Oh my word, what a shot that is late in the day from Moeen.

He launches Jack Leach for a maximum to get off the mark.

Imagine if he'd got that wrong. I mean, he didn't, but imagine!

  10. Post update

    Worcestershire 31-1 (target 443)

Travis Head is looking good out there.

The Australian creams Jamie Overton past point to the rope - his fifth four.

Four overs remain at New Road.

  11. BreakingMIDDLESEX BEAT WARWICKSHIRE

    Middlesex (236 & 242) beat Warwickshire (274 & 184) by 18 runs

    James Fuller has done it!

He bowls Chris Wright for 19 to let the curtain fall on a nervy, nervy end.

    What a game at Lord's!

  12. WICKET

    Procter c Madsen b Critchley 68 (Northants 123-3, target 314)

Big breakthrough for Derbyshire late in the day!

Matt Critchley bowls a beauty that turns and spits and Luke Procter can only guide it to short leg.

Richard Levi comes in at five with 10 overs remaining on day three.

  13. Post update

    Warwickshire 184-9 (target 203)

James Fuller bowls one just outside off-stump and Ryan Sidebottom flinches slightly - you wonder if he's a little discomforted.

Sidebottom has defended the last few - only one run from the last three overs and, as if it wasn't tense enough already, two successive maidens from Fuller.

  14. Bears need 19 runs; Middlesex one wicket

    Warwickshire 184-9 (target 203)

The ball is doing little at the moment and as a result this is smart batting from Chris Wright and Ryan Sidebottom to steadily rack up the singles.

James Fuller arrives at the Pavilion End and his grubber JUST misses the off-stump as Wright traps it to survive.

  15. WICKET

    Mitchell lbw b Davey 6 (Worcs 21-1, target 443)

    Out!

Somerset seamer Josh Davey fires one towards the stumps, it smacks Daryl Mitchell on the pads and he's sent on his way.

Moeen Ali comes in at three. The Pears need something special from their England man.

  16. 50 for Procter

    Northants 108-2 (target 314)

Northants opener Luke Procter is motoring now.

He goes to his fifty and then follows it up with a couple more boundaries off young Derbyshire spinner Hamidullah Qadri.

    206 more needed for Northants.

  17. Post update

    Worcestershire 19-0 (target 443)

    Lovely from Travis Head.

The Aussie opener biffs a couple of fours through the off side. Craig Overton is mad.

    Eight overs remain tonight.

  18. Post update

    Durham 5-0 (target 340)

    Durham's chase is under way.

First-innings centurion Tom Latham and Cameron Steel are in the middle.

11 overs remain on day three at Cheltenham.

  19. Bears require 20 runs; Middlesex one wicket

    Warwickshire 183-9 (target 203)

    So close!

Chris Wright takes a quick single from Tim Murtagh's delivery - but he's almost, almost run out!

He gets over the line just in time and goes up to 18, meaning the Bears need just 20.

This is tense with a capital T.

  20. Post update

    Worcestershire 9-0 (target 443)

    They're back under way.

Thankfully the spectator appears to be sitting up on a chair. It's been a long day in the heat.
