  1. Back tomorrow

Be sure to join Kalika and I tomorrow for the final day of the County Championship season.

The rain this afternoon means we're likely for thrilling conclusions in the relegation battles at Taunton and Edgbaston.

The promotion race is pretty much done and dusted, but you never know.

We'll be back at 10:15 BST. See you then!

  2. Close of play at Grace Road

    Leicestershire 128 & 270 v Northants 202 & 17-0

And that's your lot for today.

Northants will return on day four needing 180 more for victory.

And a slim hope of promotion if Notts somehow lose at Sussex.

  3. Stumps at New Road

    Worcestershire 335 & 157-3 v Durham 208

The inevitable happens at New Road and play is abandoned for the day.

Worcestershire sealed their promotion in the morning session and are more than likely to go up as Division Two champions tomorrow.

  4. Essex crush Tykes to end 2017 unbeaten

While we wait for official confirmation that play is off at New Road and Grace Road, take a look at how champions Essex thumped Yorkshire by 376 runs a little bit earlier...

Essex crush Tykes to end 2017 unbeaten

    Essex celebrate

County champions Essex thrash Yorkshire by 376 runs at Chelmsford to end the Division One season unbeaten.

  5. Notts on cusp of promotion

    Sussex 565 v Nottinghamshire 477

Play is abandoned for the day at Hove with the light failing to improve.

Excellent centuries from Chris Read and Billy Root have all but wrapped up promotion for Nottinghamshire.

The visitors know that so long as they walk away with a draw from Hove they will be playing Division One cricket next season.

With Sussex to begin their second innings on Thursday morning, it would take something remarkable for Notts to lose this match.

  6. Bad light stops play

    Leicestershire 128 & 270 v Northants 202 & 17-0

And now we have no cricket in the County Championship.

Bad light has brought the players off at Grace Road.

That could well be it for this evening! Back again tomorrow folks.

  7. England chasing 357

    Jason Roy

While we don't have much county action, it's probably a good time to bring you up to date with what's going on in the fourth ODI.

West Indies scored 356-5 thanks to Evin Lewis' magnificent unbeaten 176.

The opener was eventually forced to retire hurt after smashing the ball onto his ankle.

England are 45-0 in the eighth over at The Oval.

  8. Post update

    Leicestershire 128 & 270 v Northants 202 & 16-0

Rob Newton and Luke Procter have started steadily in pursuit of 197.

This is the only cricket we have in the County Championship at the moment I'm afraid.

  9. Close at Old Trafford

    Lancashire 268 & 132-3 v Surrey 201-8 dec & 242

That is indeed stumps at Old Trafford.

Lancashire will return on the final day needing 44 more runs to beat Surrey and finish second in Division One.

  10. Back tomorrow?

    Lancashire 268 & 132-3 v Surrey 201-8 dec & 242

It's not looking too promising at Old Trafford...

  11. Essex 2017 stats

    Champions go season unbeaten

    Alastair Cook

The batting and bowling figures for Essex in 2017 show why they've dominated...

    • Alastair Cook - 667 runs at 66.70
    • Dan Lawrence - 761 runs at 44.76
    • Nick Browne - 952 runs at 43.27
    • Tom Westley - 561 runs at 43.15
    • Ryan ten Doeschate - 659 runs at 41.18

    • Mohamad Amir - 14 wickets at 13.50
    • Sam Cook - 17 wickets at 16.58
    • Jamie Porter - 75 wickets at 16.80
    • Simon Harmer - 71 wickets at 19.40
    • Neil Wagner - 30 wickets at 35.63
  12. One game in play

    Leicestershire 128 & 270 v Northants 202 & 3-0

So, with this late-September weather closing in, there is only one game still going on at Grace Road.

Northants have just begun their chase of 197.

I can't imagine they will be on there for too much longer either.

    An early night beckons!

  13. Early end to play at Edgbaston

    Warwickshire 188 & 186 v Hampshire 116 & 20-1 - target 259

The rain has won the day at Edgbaston as stumps is called early.

Hampshire have a big task on their hands on the final day of the County Championship this season.

They will need 239 runs to secure their place in Division One. A draw would do them fine too but it seems the unlikeliest of results, with the weather set fair.

  14. Bad light stops play

    Lancashire 268 & 132-3 v Surrey 201-8 dec & 242

It looks like we're still going to get plenty of cricket tomorrow.

They're off for bad light at Old Trafford with Lancashire needing 43 for victory.

  15. Bad light stops play

    Worcestershire 335 & 157-3 v Durham 208

And they're off at New Road. Of course they are.

  16. Play at New Road

    Worcestershire 335 & 157-3 v Durham 208

I'm not quite sure how, but they've resumed at New Road.

I've just had a look at the rain map and it appears to be raining everywhere west of London now - except Worcester.

    New Road

    Essex 227 & 334-7 dec beat Yorkshire 111 & 74 by 376 runs

Neil Wagner finishes the Yorkshire innings off as Matthew Fisher gloves him behind for 25.

They win by a huge margin of 376 runs.

Essex have won 10 games this season and drawn four. Incredible.

The trophy presentation is coming up.

  18. for Livingstone

    Lancashire 268 & 128-3 v Surrey 201-8 dec & 242

Lancashire are racing towards victory at Old Trafford.

Liam Livingstone pulls Scott Borthwick over the rope to bring up his half-century.

    48 more needed.

  19. Glamorgan win by five wickets

    Glamorgan 229 & 192-5 beat Kent 302 & 115

With little riding on this match, we haven't really focused on proceedings at Canterbury.

But Glamorgan have finished their season with an impressive five-wicket victory over Kent.

Nick Selman's innings of 70 guided the chase.

  20. Northants need 197 to win

    Leicestershire 128 & 270 v Northants 202

That's the target for Northants if they are going to have any chance of promotion.

But they need a miracle at Hove.
