  1. Goodbye

    Stumps - day one

With play only continuing at Grace Road between Leicestershire and Glamorgan and little riding on the Division Two match, I'm going to say au revoir.

I'll be back tomorrow from 10:15 BST with live text coverage from day two.

Hope you can join me then.

  2. Close of play at Lord's

    Middlesex 208-5 v Yorkshire

Well, after a fairly farcical last hour with no floodlights, play is finally abandoned for the day at Lord's.

It's been one to remember for Middlesex opener Nick Gubbins who will resume on day two 120 not out.

Yorkshire made regular inroads but simply could not shift the 22-year-old.

  3. Division Two update

It's now stumps at Bristol where Gloucestershire have fought back from 97-7 to 201-7 against Sussex - led by Chris Dent's unbeaten 86.

Bad light has stopped play at New Road with Worcestershire 255-6 against Derbyshire. Joe Clarke is 117 not out. In fact - it's now stumps there.

A crazy day at Grace Road is just about drawing to a close. Leicestershire are already batting for a second time have been bowled out for 96 and then dismissing Glamorgan for 199. They're 30-0.

  4. Decision in five or 10 minutes at Lord's

Middlesex 208-5 v Yorkshire - bad light stopped play

Umpire Tim Robinson has just said they will have a look at the light shortly and decide whether or not they are coming back on.

The cut off time is at 18:15, but by my reckoning it's still gloomy and play will be off before that.

  5. Stumps at Edgbaston

    Warwickshire 219 v Lancashire 14-0

Lancashire openers Rob Jones and Haseeb Hameed survive the last nine overs at Edgbaston to make sure it's the Red Rose county's day.

Warwickshire need a good day two or relegation is a real prospect.

Olly Schofield: @JakeBall will be given the freedom of Yorkshire at this rate!

  7. Close of play at the Ageas Bowl

    Hampshire 370-6 v Durham

Those couple of late wickets have slightly dented what was otherwise an excellent day with the bat for Hampshire.

Liam Dawson finishes unbeaten on 47 and with Warwickshire all out for 219 at Edgbaston, Hampshire's survival hopes are much rosier than at 10:30 this morning.

  8. Umpires inspecting at Lord's

Middlesex 208-5 v Yorkshire - bad light stopped play

Rob Bailey and Tim Robinson are currently in the middle at Lord's with light metres in hand. It hasn't improved lads - get your coats, we'll come back tomorrow.

  9. WICKET Davies (c Mullaney b Ball) 0

    Somerset 322-9 v Notts - stumps

WHAT. IS. GOING. ON? That's five wickets for no runs.

Ryan Davies nicks Jake Ball to Steven Mullaney at slip to complete an absolutely bonkers last 20 minutes.

And with that dismissal it's stumps. I've just looked to my right and my colleague who is writing the Somerset report does not look best pleased. Livid in fact.

Russell Gibbs: If this madness about the floodlights costs MCCC the title who will take responsibility?

I agree completely Russell. Lord's has some of the best floodlights in the country - but they're not on and the players have been off the field for 30 minutes. Something surely has to be sorted out this winter?

  11. WICKET Van der Merwe (lbw b Tahir) 0

    Somerset 322-8 v Notts

I'm not sure collapse is the word here. Somerset have lost four wickets, for no runs, in 12 balls.

Roelof van der Merwe is the latest, pinned lbw by Imran Tahir.

Somerset have lost their heads - Yorkshiremen and women everywhere celebrate.

The hosts were 302-2 about an hour ago. Madness.

  12. Five-wicket haul for Ball

    Somerset 322-7 v Notts

Incredible - Somerset lose their third wicket in 10 balls without adding a run. And it's that man Jake Ball again.

The big paceman finds Craig Overton's outside edge and Samit Patel clings on at slip after a quick circus act. Overton goes without troubling the scorers.

    Ball has 5-47.

    Samit Patel
  13. WICKET Trego (lbw b Ball) 9

    Somerset 322-6 v Notts

Wow, I wasn't expecting this when Chris Rogers and James Hildreth were smacking it to all parts an hour ago.

Peter Trego is Jake Ball's fourth victim, lbw to an inswinger. Somerset need to win this match to have any chance of their first title, but they're making things a little more difficult for themselves.

  14. WICKET Gregory (b Tahir) 2

    Somerset 322-5 v Notts

Somerset are losing their way a little as day one draws to a close.

Lewis Gregory is bowled by South Africa spinner Imran Tahir.

Roelof van der Merwe joins the dangerous Peter Trego in the middle.

  15. Four batting bonus points for Hants

    Hampshire 352-6 v Durham

Hampshire go past 350 to make it four bonus points - that means they've already made up three on Warwickshire who led them by eight points at the start of play.

However, they then lose Ryan McLaren, lbw to Ryan Pringle for 13.

Durham have really fought back in this last hour.

  16. Frustration at Lord's

Middlesex 208-5 v Yorkshire - bad light stops play

    Kalika Mehta

    BBC Sport at Lord's

"There a huge sense of frustration from the spectators and players alike, as bad light encroaches on play in this highly entertaining match.

"With the new ball having just been taken and Nick Gubbins unbeaten on 120 this match is finely poised.

"Somerset's batting brilliance at Taunton is putting pressure on both Middlesex and Yorkshire and neither will want to be sat in the dressing room for too much longer."

Duncan Russell: Even as a Yorkshireman my money is on a 1st title for Somerset at the moment, anything's better than a Middlesex victory anyway

  18. WARWICKSHIRE BOWLED OUT FOR 219

    Warwickshire 219 v Lancashire

Lancashire seamer Tom Bailey has Jeetan Patel caught by Haseeb Hameed for 26 to claim his fourth wicket and end Warwickshire's innings.

It's a below-par effort from the hosts at Edgbaston - especially with fellow relegation candidates Hampshire in command on 347-5 against Durham.

  19. Bad light stops play

    Middlesex 208-5 v Yorkshire

It's been gloomy for most of the day at Lord's, but we're now in late September, the evenings are drawing in, and the umpires have decided it's too dark to continue.

Yorkshire's bowlers have been probing, but Nick Gubbins (120 not out) and James Franklin (21 not out) have resisted everything they've thrown at them.

I'd be surprised if they get back on now, but what do I know?!

  20. Division Two update

It's smooth sailing for Worcestershire with Joe Clarke reaching 100 not out, bringing their total to 221-4 against Derbyshire.

Gloucestershire have battled back against Sussex where David Payne (48*) and Chris Dent (86*) dragged their side past the 200-mark before bad light suspended play, with Dent's innings lasting just shy of five hours so far.

The wickets continue to tumble at Grace Road where Glamorgan lead Leicestershire by 91 runs with two wickets still remaining. They're 187-8 after the Foxes were skittled for 96 before lunch.
