  1. That's it for Wednesday's play

Middlesex beat Somerset with two balls remaining

Thanks for joining me then, on the day that Middlesex successfully chased down 302 runs to win in a frantic finale at Taunton.

Warwickshire and Hampshire played out a rain-hit draw at Edgbaston, while Surrey and Yorkshire look likely to draw at the Oval after a fine Adam Lyth century for the visitors.

And Matt Quinn's seven-wicket haul has helped Essex on Day One v Gloucestershire at Cheltenham.

You can read all of today's match reports in full here.

That's it from me today - good evening!

  2. Stumps at Cheltenham

    Gloucestershire 218-8 v Essex

A good day for Essex at Cheltenham ends with Gloucestershire's Craig Miles (45) and Liam Norwell (7) set to resume in the morning.

  3. Overton to miss ENG Lions series

Middlesex beat Somerset with two balls to spare

There is more bad news for Somerset today as it has been confirmed that Jamie Overton will miss the England Lions matches against Pakistan A and Sri Lanka A later in July.

A statement on Somerset's website said he suffered a lower back injury during the first innings against Middlesex.

  4. Quinn makes it Essex's day

    Gloucestershire 214-8 v Essex

Meanwhile, over at Cheltenham, Gloucester are 214-8 and Essex's Matt Quinn has seven wickets to his name. They're in the final over on Day One there.

  5. Middlesex win by two wickets

    Somerset 236 & 446-9d v Middlesex 381 & 302-8

Wow! What a run chase that was. Somerset declared and set Middlesex 302 to win - and they managed it. John Simpson is their hero today. His 79 from 80 has won this match in the end.

  6. BreakingMIDDLESEX WIN BY TWO WICKETS

    Somerset 236 & 446-9d v Middlesex 381 & 302-8

John Simpson hits a huge six and the Middlesex celebrations begin! They have won with two balls to spare!

He struck it over square leg and Somerset cannot believe they have lost this match.

  7. Into the final over at Taunton

    Somerset 236 & 446-9d v Middlesex 381 & 294-8

So, six balls remain. Middlesex need eight runs to win, Somerset need two wickets.

Hold on to your hats, everyone. This is almost as tight as it gets.

John Simpson (73) is on strike. Jim Allenby will bowl the final over.

  8. WICKET Eskinazi (c C Overton b Groenewald 11)

    Somerset 236 & 446-9d v Middlesex 381 & 292-8

Stevie Eskinazi is caught. Both sides still feel they can win this!

Nine balls left. 10 runs to win, two wickets left.

  9. Two overs to go at Taunton

    Somerset 236 & 446-9d v Middlesex 381 & 291-7

12 deliveries still to come. Just 11 runs to win.

Stevie Eskinazi found two fours, after John Simpson had smashed a six, as Middlesex took 16 from the third-to-last over. Somerset look very worried now...

  10. Three overs left at Taunton

    Somerset 236 & 446-9d v Middlesex 381 & 275-7

Three overs remain. Middlesex need 27 runs to win, 26 to tie.

Somerset might still fancy finding those three remaining wickets.

Terrific drama to conclude Wednesday's play at Taunton.

  11. Stumps at the Oval

    Surrey 267 v Yorkshire 207-3

Day Three at the Oval comes to and end with Adam Lyth (116) and Steven Patterson (5) set to resume in the morning, with Yorkshire 60 runs behind.

  12. WICKET Rayner (b Leach 0)

    Somerset 236 & 446-9d v Middlesex 381 & 271-7

There's another one! Two wickets in the over for Jack Leach as Ollie Rayner is out to his second ball.

This is all getting rather interesting, isn't it?! What will Middlesex do now?

  13. WICKET Fuller (c Trego b Leach 36)

    Somerset 236 & 446-9d v Middlesex 381 & 271-6

James Fuller goes after scoring 36 from 18 balls.

    4.2 overs remain.

  14. Five overs left at Taunton

    Somerset 236 & 446-9d v Middlesex 381 & 268-5

Suddenly, Middlesex need just 34 runs from five overs to win this match. That's thanks to a spell of 62 runs from the past three overs - aided by some generous wides from Somerset's Craig Overton.

What a finish this could be at Taunton...

  15. Rain stops play at Cheltenham

    Gloucestershire 204-7 v Essex

  16. WICKET Gale (c Foakes b T Curran 61)

    Surrey 267 v Yorkshire 197-3

Andrew Gale is caught behind! Yorkshire still trail by 70 runs.

  17. 22 runs from one over

    Somerset 236 & 446-9d v Middlesex 381 & 228-5

A remarkable over breathes fresh life into Middlesex's hopes of a stunning victory. Here's how it played out:

James Fuller took a single.John Simpson hit one away for four.Tim Groenewald conceded 1 bye.Fuller found another four.Fuller smashed one away for six.Fuller found a second consecutive six.

Game on? They need 74 more runs.

  18. Eight overs left at Taunton

    Somerset 236 & 446-9d v Middlesex 381 & 206-5

96 runs needed from eight overs. That's Middlesex's tough challenge, to win. But they don't look likely to try and chase that down. Somerset want five more wickets.

  19. 100 for Lyth at the Oval

    Surrey 267 v Yorkshire 180-2

    Adam Lyth

From 159 balls, Adam Lyth reaches a century for Yorkshire, sealing it with his 11th four of the innings.

His partner out in the middle, Andrew Gale, has a 50.
