  1. Goodnight

There's not much more to add, is there?

Fantastic from England who can have a good, old knees-up before the battles resumes at Edgbaston a week on Wednesday.

Look out for Pint-Sized TMS on the BBC Sport website this evening, there's a Tuffers & Vaughan show on 5 live while Aggers will be doing his column for the website tomorrow morning.

    Until next time, adios!

  2. Another England win...

    Ben Duckett and Daniel Bell-Drummond

A good day all round for England - the Lions have beaten Sri Lanka A by 140 runs at Canterbury in the one-day triangular series.

Victory was built on two remarkable innings: Ben Duckett hit 220 not out off 131 balls and Daniel Bell-Drummond 171 off 139 deliveries in the Lions' mammoth 425-1.

Sri Lanka were bowled out for 285 in reply thanks to George Garton's 4-43.

The Lions have won all four of their matches, beating Sri Lanka twice and Pakistan twice.

Trevor Bayliss, speaking to Sky Sports: "Joe Root was hard on himself after Lord's, he spent a lot of time in the nets. He's shown the less experienced players in the team how to go about reacting to disappointment."

  4. Post update

Joe Root is going to be getting the coach's star of the week certificate later on...

  5. Post update

Trevor Bayliss on Sky Sports: "I think any good team is judged by how they come back from bad performances.

"The guys were disappointed with how they played at Lord's, but they were prepared to make up for it here.

"I look for the little things - our attitude in the field was a lot better, we wanted the ball to come to us."

    Michael Vaughan

Ex-England captain on BBC Test Match Special

Ben Stokes looks like he has done some real damage to that calf. He will be missed.

Doug Woodcock: With Stokes likely to miss next Test I would bring Finn back in. The Lord's scoreboard was unkind, and he's produced before.

  8. Post update

England's Joe Root: "To get a big score does help, you still try and play the situation in front of you. I don't approach batting at four differently to three.

"It is beautifully poised at 1-all. We'll be very confident going to Edgbaston and I'm sure it will be a great series for the remainder."

  9. Post update

England's Joe Root: "It's been a good ground for me, the atmosphere is great. It's nice to have some support at Old Trafford for a change, having played here in the County Championship against Lancashire.

"We have worked very hard with the management and staff, it's good to have been able to turn things around so quickly."

  10. How's stat?!

  11. Post update

England captain Alastair Cook: "Apart from one dropped catch today, we could not have done better.

"Joe's was an extraordinary innings, but everyone had a better tempo about their play in this match.

"Watching Yasir from Lord's, he got a lot of lbws and bowled so we played him a little straighter and it worked."

On Root's promotion to number three: "It was the logical step to get our bast batter to bat at three. He's an extraordinary player. It's as good an innings as I've seen."

On the follow-on: "I wanted to give the bowlers some time off. The pitch wasn't a minefield. A couple of the guys were coming back from a lay-off. I didn't think it would cause the stir it did."

    Geoffrey Boycott

Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special

I don't see England going back to the high-risk shots they played at Lord's. And they have learned how to play Yasir Shah, the leg-spinner. They tired him out - and a four-man attack gets very tired over five sessions.

  15. Post update

Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq on TMS: "This is a big disappointment for us. We could have scored around 400 in the first innings - the ball wasn't doing anything much. We are short of confidence and shot selection really cost us.

"These guys are strong characters - mentally strong. I'm hopeful that everybody is hurt and they will really work hard."

On Joe Root's 254: "That was one innings which really took the game away from us. The way Cook and Root played, they capitalised on that toss and put us out of the game."

  16. Post update

    Geoffrey Boycott

Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special

England won the match. Does the follow-on matter? In the big picture, it doesn't matter. It's not a big deal for me.

  17. Post update

England captain Alastair Cook on TMS: "It's quite nice to bounce back and play like that over four days. You have to consign the last Test to the bin. We spoke about it before the game.

"The tempo of our batting was more like a Test match; we were playing high-risk shots for little reward at Lord's.

"Clearly it was a good toss to win. We got ahead - and stayed ahead. Joe's performance, stepping up to number three, was so controlled. We all know what a world-class player he is. He didn't put a foot wrong.

"I was surprised that the decision not to follow-on caused such a stir. To me it was a bit of a no-brainer. I think everyone else wanted a day off."

  19. Post update

More from England's Joe Root on TMS: "I'm really looking forward to getting to Edgbaston and hopefully put in a similar performance. The bowlers grafted really hard today and last night. I twas a really good effort from all of the team. It sets it up nicely for the series."
