  5. What are the European Team Championships?

The European Team Championships are a unique event in which medals aren’t awarded to athletes for their performances in individual events – but to the top three countries at the end, who are ranked based on their athletes’ efforts.

The event first took place in 2009 and comprises four leagues, with Great Britain competing in the top tier – the Super League – alongside the likes of France and reigning champions Germany.

This year, the Super League is being hosted in Bydgoszcz, Poland, with GB hoping to improve on their fourth-placed finish two years ago. GB have never won the Super League, with their best performance coming in 2010 when they finished as runners-up in Bergen.
