  4. Chelsea striker Abraham signs new deal, then joins Swansea on loan

    Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham has signed a new five-year contract at Stamford Bridge and joined Swansea City on a season-long loan deal.

    The 19-year-old will link up with Swans boss Paul Clement, who worked as Blues coach from 2007 to 2011.

    Abraham scored 26 goals in 48 games on loan at Championship side Bristol City last season.

    He also netted once in four games as England's under-21s reached the semi-finals of the European Championship.

    Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is "intrigued" by the prospect of re-joining boyhood club Everton as the Goodison Park side step up their pursuit of the 31-year-old according to the Times.

    "The situation has been discussed over the past week and the clubs have also been talking about Romelu Lukaku, who is wanted by both United and Chelsea," writes Paul Joyce.

    Burnley have had an £8m bid for 24-year-old Nottingham Forest striker Britt Assombalonga turned down according to the Daily Mail.

    Clarets boss Sean Dyche previously worked with Assombalonga at Watford and is expecting to lose Andre Gray as the forward enters the final year of his contract at Turf Moor.

  11. Djokovic reaches second round after Klizan retires

    Former champion Novak Djokovic needed just 40 minutes to reach the second round at Wimbledon after Martin Klizan retired in the second set.

    Djokovic, the second seed, led 6-3 2-0 when the Slovakian approached the net and called it a day.

    The Serb goes on to face Czech Adam Pavlasek in the second round on Thursday.

    Seven-time champion Roger Federer will play Ukraine's Alexandr Dolgopolov later on Tuesday.

    Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie reports that Sunderland are preparing for life in the Championship by raiding around the fringes of Everton's squad.

    Defenders Brendan Galloway, 21, and Tyias Browning, 23, are apparently loan signings while 31-year-old winger Aiden McGeady, who spent last year on loan at Preston, is a possible permanent addition.

  13. Liverpool 'interested in Nice's Dalbert'

    Nice left-back Henrique Dalbert is a target for Liverpool according to Mercato365 via Sportwitness.

    The 23-year-old Brazilian was a key part of Lucien Favre's side last season, appearing 33 times in the team's surge to third in Ligue 1.

    He cost the French side just £2m last summer from Vitoria in Portugal, but Nice are set to demand about £26m to let him leave.

    The player has already agreed a five-year contract with Inter Milan apparently, but the Italian side are not close to meeting that asking price.

  14. Samir Nasri due back at Man City on Monday

    Samir Nasri is expected to report for training with the rest of his Manchester City team-mates on Monday.

    Nasri spent last season on loan with Seville and in December got involved in a bizarre argument with a Los Angeles-based medical clinic, in which it was claimed he was given an intravenous drip.

    The quantity it was suggested had been administered were greater than those permitted, leading to Uefa to investigate.

    However, as there has been no conclusion to the case, Nasri is free to play, meaning he should be reporting for duty when City return to training a week before they head to the United States for a three-match tour featuring matches against Manchester United, Real Madrid and Tottenham.

    Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette is having a medical at Arsenal before the Gunners complete their record transfer deal.

    The club had an initial bid for the 26-year-old France international rejected, but talks continued.

    Lacazette's move is expected to surpass the £42.4m Arsenal paid Real Madrid for Mesut Ozil in 2013.

  17. Ker-ching - the inflating transfer market

    Manchester United could pocket £7.5m from Michael Keane's move to Everton from Burnley thanks to the 25% sell-on clause they negotiated when the defender left them in 2015.

    That figure is more than the actual transfer fees United received in the same year for Javier Hernandez's move to Bayer Leverkusen (£7.3m) and Jonny Evans' exit for West Brom (£6m).

    Both were established internationals when they left Old Trafford. Keane has played once for England.

  18. BreakingDone deal: Ince signs for Huddersfield

    No surprises here. It's been on the cards...

    Huddersfield Town have signed Derby County winger Tom Ince for an undisclosed fee on a three-year deal.

    The 25-year-old joined the Rams for £4.75m in July 2015 after a successful loan spell.

    The former England Under-21 international has previously played in the Premier League for Crystal Palace and Hull City.

    "He scores goals, creates them for others and is always a threat when he's on the pitch," boss David Wagner said.

  20. Kerber struggles to victory over qualifier Falconi

    Kerber 6-4 6-4 Falconi

    Angelique Kerber avoided an early upset as the world number one overcame a spirited battle by American qualifier Irina Falconi to reach the second round of Wimbledon.

    Kerber, who reached last year's final, has struggled for form in 2017 and lost in the first round of the French Open.

    The German was again not at her best against world number 103 Falconi but eventually came through 6-4 6-4.

    Kerber will next play either Belgium's Kirsten Flipkens or Japan's Misaki Doi.
