  2. BreakingMahrez wants to leave Leicester

    Leicester City

    Riyad Mahrez

Goodbye Leicester City's mercurial midfielder Riyad Mahrez?

    Here's his statement:

Out of the huge admiration and respect I hold for Leicester City Football Club I wanted to be totally honest and transparent with them and have therefore informed the club that I feel now is the time for me to move on.

I had a good discussion with the Chairman last summer and we agreed at that time that I would stay for another year in order to help the club as best as I could following the transition of winning the title and in the Champions League.

However, I am fiercely ambitious and feel that now is the time to move on to a new experience.

I've always enjoyed a good relationship with the Chairman and everyone at the club, and I hope I have been able to repay the faith shown to me by my performances and commitment on the pitch during my time here.

I've had the four best seasons of my career at Leicester and have loved every moment. I feel immense pride to have been a part of what we have achieved during my time at the club, culminating in becoming Premier League Champions.

The relationship I share with the club and our amazing fans is something I will treasure forever and I truly hope they will understand and respect my decision.

"I met with a couple of coaches who I felt had teams that attacked well given their resources," said England coach Eddie Jones.

"He interviewed very well. He is a Leicester boy, and played a lot of club rugby, played for England - one Test wonder - and they usually make good coaches because they don't have a lot to worry about."

  10. This season

Wenger to sign new two-year deal with Arsenal

Arsenal climbed to the top of the Premier League in October, and returned there in December, but then they went on the slide.

The Gunners won only three games from 10 in all competitions, and dropped down to seventh.

They rallied at the end of the season, winning five on the bounce, but it wasn't enough to see them finish in the top four.

Arsenal didn't finish trophyless, though. They added a record 13th FA Cup to their cabinet on Saturday, after a 2-1 win over Chelsea.

In 2016, the former Test captain became the first Englishman and youngest ever to score 10,000 Test runs in England's nine-wicket win over Sri Lanka.
