  4. 'Edge to the atmosphere'

    Euro 2016: England v Wales (14:00 BST)

    England fan

    From BBC News' James Reevell:

The rain is hammering down here, but it’s not stopping English fans from drinking in the square outside the station – one of yesterday’s flashpoints where CS gas was first used by French police.

Riot police are vigilant but relaxed, keeping a distance from the fans as they sing and drink.

The atmosphere is similar to yesterday, people coming to Lille to have fun but with an edge that is not common when attending games in England.

For the most part, fans are disappointed with the trouble yesterday – blaming a minority. Lots of them don’t have tickets so will just stay in the city to watch the game.

  5. Hodgson sees Russia result put in context

    Euro 2016: England v Wales (14:00 BST)

    Phil McNulty

BBC Sport chief football writer at Stade Bolllaert, Lens

England manager Roy Hodgson looked shocked when he was informed that Slovakia were leading Russia 2-0 while he was busy conducting a media briefing in Lens.

"Is that true?" was his response and Slovakia went on to win 2-1.

What was also true was that Slovakia's win put England's 1-1 draw with the Russians into perspective - and not in a good way.

England have used the performance against Russia, - this was a good performance but a bad result effectively, as a comfort blanket ahead of today's meeting with Wales..

What is clear now is that they failed to beat a very poor Russian team that now increasingly resembles the very weak link in  their group.
