Mauresmo confirmed in an interview in L'Equipe on Saturday that, as a new mother, she could no longer devote enough weeks to coaching the Scot, who earned a place in the second-round of the French Open with a five-set win over Radek Stepanek.

But she added she sometimes found his behaviour during matches "disconcerting" and a barrier to "helping them make further progress."
