Player-coach Derrick Walser scored two goals in a man-of-the-match display as the Belfast Giants beat Elite League leaders the Cardiff Devils.

Belfast are now six points behind Cardiff with two matches in hand.

Chris Higgins opened the scoring just over 13 minutes and Walser netted an unassisted effort on 28 minutes.

Cardiff hit back to level through team captain Jake Morissette and Gleason Fournier but Walser beat Devils' goaltender Ben Bowns for the winner.

It was a third successive league victory for the Giants who are away to the Edinburgh Capitals in their final group game of the Challenge Cup on Sunday.
