Nottingham Panthers: Joe Jensen and Neil Conway join champions

Nottingham Panthers

Nottingham Panthers have signed ex-NHL forward Joe Jensen and netminder Neil Conway on short-term contracts.

Jensen, 30, played six games in the NHL for the Carolina Hurricanes after being picked up by Pittsburgh in the eighth round of the 2003 draft.

He has spent the past three seasons in Italy, scoring 97 points in 53 appearances for Val Pusteria last term.

Conway comes in as cover for Craig Kowalski, who is set to become a father for the first time.

Panthers head coach Corey Neilson told the club website: "In an ideal world we may never have needed him (Conway), but you never know. He understands why he is here and is ready to jump into the line-up if we need him.

"Joe's arrival will add some more speed and a bit of scoring punch on the ice and it will add some competition for places also."

Jensen is due to arrive in Nottingham in time for the double-header at the National Ice Centre against Dundee on Friday and Fife on Sunday.
