Nottingham Panthers are expected to be without Eric Werner for two months after the defenceman broke his leg just two weekends into the new season.
Panthers recovered from Friday's shock 5-2 loss to early-season Elite League leaders Dundee Stars to beat Fife 5-4 after penalty shots on Saturday.
But the win over the Flyers came at a cost with Werner breaking his leg when he was hit just below the shinpad.
Panthers are already looking at bringing in cover.
Nottingham also beat Edinburgh Capitals 4-2 at the weekend to sit second in the Elite League table.
