Ayr Gold Cup meeting: Ladies Day goes ahead

There will be no racing at Ayr on Thursday

The second day of Ayr's William Hill Gold Cup meeting went ahead after the track passed a 06:30 BST inspection.

Thursday's racing had to be abandoned due to a waterlogged course.

But a dry night ensured the ground turned to heavy and officials declared the track fit to race for Ladies Day, which was attended by the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay.

Racing at Saturday's Ayr Gold Cup Festival is due to start at 13:45 BST, with heavy going forecast.
