Opinion Poll, trained by Mahmood Al Zarooni and ridden by Frankie Dettori, won a thrilling Goodwood Cup at Glorious Goodwood.

The Gold Cup runner-up finished ahead of Lost In The Moment, Blue Bajan and Fox Hunt with a photo deciding the outcome of the race.

Overturn made the early break but was hauled in by the chasing pack and Dettori led Opinion Poll home.

"He's an honest horse and never runs a bad race," said Dettori.

"He's got a lot of courage and is a very hard horse to pass."

The 9-2 market leader had found only Fame And Glory too strong at Royal Ascot and Dettori was happy to bide his time as Overturn adopted his customary front-running tactics.

When Richard Hughes kicked the latter clear rounding the turn for home, it looked as though he might have stolen a march on his rivals, but his advantage began to dwindle heading into the final two furlongs.

Opinion Poll picked up in style to claim the lead passing the one-furlong marker and he just managed to hold off the Saeed bin Suroor-trained Lost In The Moment, also trained by Godolphin, by a head.

Blue Bajan was a neck further away in third.

Dettori sealed a double when he helped Meeznah (6-1) to win the I-Shares Fillies' Stakes.
