England women suffer heavy defeat by Argentina at Olympic Park

England's women were playing their first home game since helping Great Britain win 2016 Olympic gold in Rio

England's women suffered a 5-1 home defeat by Argentina in an international match at the Olympic Park in London.

The visitors led early in the second period through a Agustina Habif goal but Hannah Martin levelled for England soon after.

Martina Cavallero put Argentina back in front before Magdalena Fernandez made it 3-1 for the team ranked third in the world.

Delfina Merino and Eugenia Trinchinetti scored to put the result beyond doubt.

England, who are ranked second in the world, face top-ranked side Holland on Sunday.
