Guernsey suffer HA Trophy final loss to Lewes in extra time
Guernsey lost the HA Trophy final for the after going down 3-2 to Lewes in extra time.
The Sarnians conceded a golden goal winner in Wakefield when Chris Marchant struck the Guernsey net four minutes into the extra period.
The islanders had dominated the regulation 70 minutes, despite conceding an early goal.
Matt Watson equalised and Drew Clark put them in front before Lewes netted in the final minutes of normal time.
"Sometimes it just happens," Guernsey skipper matt Watson told BBC Guernsey.
"It feels a little bit upsetting that it's twice in two years, it happened in the final last year against Gateshead.
"Lewes are a good side, but I think if we played them 10 times I think we'd win more than we'd lose."
It was an opinion backed up by Guernsey coach Andy Whalley, who felt his side were the better on the day.
"I thought we pretty much dominated it for the 70 minutes," he said.
"They created three chances and scored three goals and we probably created 10 times that number."
