Mickelson's reputation has been tarnished forever which is a shame. I have always respected Mickelson until now. I think it was an insane rush of blood which would have been somewhat understandable given the ridiculousness of the course set up. His second mistake was trying to convince everyone it was anything else. Had it happened in THE OPEN it would have been dealt with differently.
The USGA have announced changes for Pebble Beach. They will have 6 pins which are impossible, six which are ridiculous and 6 on the greens. They have expressed sorrow for the greens at Shinnecock however the ball they used on the stimpmeter rolled off the green and into the rough and they are still looking for it.
Thanks Brooks. The tartan tour was always going to make you, remember Spey valley. Delighted as I got 22/1.
41. If Phil wanted to make a point about the greens being ridiculous, he could have done that in the post-round interviews, on twitter etc.---------That wouldn't have worked. By doing it in front of TV millions he may just make the next US Open better prepared. I'm not saying he is right but I think he made the most effective statement.
Rock on Tommy!
Jason Day & Jordan Speith take note!I meant Rory of course who else.Brooks won it both ways two years in a row the boring bomber set up and the USGA signature stamped set up very impressive. A air of invincibility about him.
Re 171. I am not in the PM hate squad at all though I did post earlier that I thought he should have been disqualified for his disdain for the spirit, ethics and etiquette which are synonymous with golf. In fact, I have been a big fan of his for years due to his enormous interaction with the fans and public and obvious enjoyment he gets from it. Unlike the forever grumpy Woods, for instance.
I lost a lot of respect for Mickleson when he publicly criticised Tom Watson after the 2014 Ryder Cup but his actions on Saturday and his pathetic attempt to justify them just showed the lack of respect he has for the game, the event and his fellow professionals. Certainly showed his true character and not the Mr Nice Guy image he likes to portray.
Its not supposed to be easy, but its not supposed to be impossible either, i found this years US open a tough watch at times.
Gosh the mickleson hate squad want his head on a pike and no mistake. Admit it, you hated him anyway and you siezed on that one thing and are running your loathing to the max. "...should look again at his career wins retrospectively" get a grip! "..he should have withdrawn" if he had, you'd be screaming yellow-belly! unprofessional! at him from your spittle-flecked keyboards. PS I'm no PM fanboy.
