Gallacher should get a wild card for me even if he fails to qualify through the Italian, with the support of a Scottish crowd and his family history in the Ryder Cup there will certainly be no shortage of motivation.Poulter and McDowell must also be in the team, although I am not impresses with McDowell's attitude in choosing to ignore the Italian Open, should at least try to qualify by right.
someone said wheres monty... really.. too old
McGinley, Monday to discuss it and then watch Poulter and Donald (if they make the cut). If he chooses on recent form Blixt won't be considered despite an excellent short game. Dubuisson is so introverted (at least publicly) that I worry about him being a foursomes player. He should pick 2 on their form and either Poulter or Donald for their pick up factor (done very differently of course).
Given the fact that the European Tour is fast becoming a non-entity I would not be surprised to see all players coming from the World List in future.
@151... So funny the other night.Despite the powers that be giving them 2 goes. LOL. LOL
@152Is the plan also to join a different land-mass also?"us Europeans"Not "us", who'll soon be leaving the EU, don't use the Euro and speak English as a first language.
With 5 out of 9 qualifiers from the mainland, picking three out of form Englishmen is unthinkable. Molinari could put himself in the minds by winning the Italian Open again but otherwise only Jimenez is close enough to qualification to justify selection (disappointing year for some). Poulter gets in because he's a team motivator and if GMac stays 9th Donald may get a reprieve.

@DobellPoulter isn't much longer than Donald.@Bantam - Not too bad, I like both Ilonen and Blixt, but would depend on how they all do in next few weeks, there really are no stand out picks, which is unusual, and worrying
Jimenez would be one of my picks excellent in Gleneagles' type conditions; obviously GMcD if he can do it by himself and Gallagher as A scot should be there to boost the crowd atmosphere for team Europe. If Gallagher gets there by himself the I would give it to Poulter as I think Donald is too short a better for a big, windy course.
@147 Bite ? Blimey calm down ! For what it's worth and on the basis that places are not settled yet, I am of the opinion that for one, Westwood should not play ( that will please you ) I hope McDowell and Gallagher are in, and I prefer Ilonen whether qualifies or picked and Blixt. Certainly these before Warren.
the2ironkidwould you like to enlighten us with your definitive list of players who have 'mastered' the game of golf?
@BantamI'll bite.... Who would you pick?
@142...i respect 100% the view that lw is one of the world's 'greats'...i just don't happen to share that view...OF COURSE he's an exceptionally talented golfer...jeez, i wish i could strike a golf ball like he does...but he remains 2nd tier in my book when considered alongside the true [imo] greats...if titles were won from the tee and the fairways, he'd be tough to beat...but they're not!!!
@143 Warren in the Ryder Cup ? Are you drunk ? :-)

@BantamWell done, you have surpassed yourself this time!Despite having hours to come up with a response, somehow you have managed to write something that makes no sense at all, makes no reference to the subject in hand, and isn't remotely funny (standard). Are you drunk?Bravo indeed!McDowell/Gallacher, Poulter & Warren to get picks
@140He has won some "Masters" competitions, just not the big one.Open question: what is the definition of a "master" at golf. Definition of a master from dictionary is "a person with exceptional skill at a certain thing".
@138 I don't think you need my help regarding defending your stupidity :-) Now silly boy ( don't think " man " is appropriate for you yet ) go away !
