Alan Dunbar drops out of contention at Challenge Tour event

Alan Dunbar is the British Amateur champion

Alan Dunbar dropped out of contention at a European Challenge Tour event in Scotland after a third round of four-over-par 75 left him on seven under.

Dunbar had led the Scottish Hydro Challenge at the Macdonald Spey Valley Golf Club after an opening round of 62.

The Rathmore player posted a 69 in his second round to lie one off the lead.

Gareth Maybin missed the cut at the BMW International Open in Munich by one stroke after a two-under-par 70 in Friday's second round.

The Ballyclare golfer, who shot a level-par 72 on day one, would have made the weekend if it had not been for a double-bogey seven at the 11th hole.
