Royal County Down's Danielle McVeigh hopes to be playing on the Ladies European Tour by 2012 after announcing that she is turning professional.
The 23-year-old from Kilkeel will be playing in the Irish Open this week at Killeen Castle in County Meath.
McVeigh will then compete in some events on the LET Access Tour.
During her amateur career, McVeigh won the British Strokeplay Championship in 2009 and last year's Scottish Strokeplay event.
"The time is right for me to progress and I always wanted to turn pro," said Mcveigh.
"With my studies now completed, I can focus entirely on my game and I am excited about playing against some of the top golfers in Europe on a regular basis."
