Scotland's Craig Lee finished equal second at the St Omer Open as Australian Matt Zions showed Rory McIlroy-style dominance to win.

It was the 34-year-old Lee's highest-ever finish in a European Tour event.

The Scot, along with Englishman Daniel Denison and Sweden's Peter Gustafsson, finished seven strokes behind.

Lee carded a final round of 72 as Zions stretched his lead with a two-under-par 69 to finish on eight under at the French tournament.

With the majority of golf's leading lights trailing in McIlroy's wake at the US Open, only four of the field finished under par.

The second-highest placed Scot was Alastair Forsyth, who finished on one over after a final round of 73.
