Cavan clinched a comprehensive 2-17 to 1-8 win over Monaghan in the Ulster Minor Football tie at Breffni Park.

Goals from Thomas Edward Donohue and David Brady helped Cavan lead 2-9 to 0-6 at the interval and the game was effectively already over by that stage.

Patrick O'Neill did pull a goal back for Monaghan in the second half but Cavan's victory was never in any doubt.

Cavan were backboned by several members of the victorious St Pat's Cavan MacRory Cup-winning squad.

The Breffni County's victory sets up a semi-final meeting with either Fermanagh or Antrim.
