Hartlepool United 1-2 Newport County

James Rowberry celebrates Newport's third successive win under his guidance

Dom Telford scored a dramatic added time winner at Hartlepool to send Newport County into the play-off zone.

Courtney Baker-Richardson headed the visitors into the lead in the first half.

David Ferguson equalised from a free-kick before Telford continued his scoring streak to seal the win.

However, James Rowberry's side must wait for the rest of the weekend's League Two games to discover if they will stay fifth.

Hartlepool remain 10th in the table after their first home league defeat of 2021-22.

Newport boss James Rowberry:

"I lost my voice - I lost my voice last week. [I'm] very pleased with the performance and I suppose people say there's nothing better than an injury-time winner, but I'm just happy to get the result and get the three points.

"[I'm] pleased for my players and pleased for my staff."

Grat to see County doing so well. I am a Swansea City fan but I really hope Newport go up this season as they are a club that has risen from oblivion and they deserve to get their rewards.

Great game to watch, end to end and could’ve gone either way tbh. Well done Hartlepool for turning out in your thousands on a damp Friday night and creating an atmosphere. Hats off to the County faithful too for making the long trip. Hope it’s a fixture in League 1 next year. 🤞

A superb performance by County. Played some lovely football first half after surviving the early onslaught. Backs to the wall second half as the crowd really got behind Hartlepool but we fashioned a last minute winner by who else but Telford. Great game to watch - UTC

Fair enough. Up against a side who'll likely be challenging for promotion. If you'd have offered me 10th and 11 ahead of the relegation zone at this point after coming up I'd have definitely been happy. Onto the next one see how that goes 🙂
