Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp hopes the defeat by Burnley will prove a turning point for his side.
The Reds lost 1-0 to the Clarets on Thursday as they went five Premier League games without a win in a run of three draws and two defeats.
Liverpool have only beaten a weakened Aston Villa in the FA Cup in January and face Manchester United - live on BBC One - on Sunday in the next round.
"We lost that [Burnley] game and it was a really low point," Klopp said.
"Sometimes you need a really low point to change things properly - and that's for sure [what] we will go for now.
"If we would have won in a bad game the world would have said: 'OK, it's not the football they usually play but they are back on the result path.' But in the long term it would not help.
"It can be a real help if we use it. I can imagine what a lot of people think about us in the moment."
Reigning champions Liverpool are fourth in the top flight and six points behind leaders Manchester United, with the two sides playing out a goalless draw when they met in the league last Sunday.
"They [the players] are still brilliant people and brilliant characters, all of them," Klopp added.
"All of them made happen what happened in the last few years and they don't change overnight. It is still a really good group."
Liverpool did beat Villa 4-1 in the FA Cup but have only scored one league goal since beating Crystal Palace 7-0 on 19 December.
There has been speculation over the future of forward Mohamed Salah after the Egyptian gave an interview to a Spanish newspaper, but Klopp does not believe that has had an impact on his side.
"That's a normal thing in the world of football," the German added.
"We get asked questions and then we answer. It always sounds like we started the conversation but in most cases it is not like that.
"I don't think it will distract the season."

We can’t afford top players but we are one of the best organised and hardest working sides in the division.
It’s always could’ve should’ve would’ve when we win.
Sean Dyche is an incredible manager and we will continue to upset the teams who underestimate us.
Am I happy about it, no. Will I start shouting and crying like a baby no I will support the team as always.
Let rival fans enjoy this, they have all been through it its our turn.
Klopp will sort it out.
Have faith and remember the word support can never be used casually.
Although one must concede that Bruce, Pulis and Warnock are all viable candidates.
They might actually retain the ball in mid-field and up front but Salah and Mane keep doing pantomime dives trying to win non-existent free kicks. The refs have wised up ...but it’s just embarrassing. Stop the diving.
The BBC has got to sort this out, the HYS boards are becoming a playground drowned by insults with no chance to debate football properly.
Today’s premier league is full of the most cheating diving fraudsters week in, week out.
Funny how the so called pundits of today state how “clever” these cheats are to gain an advantage!!!
Today’s top level football is all about “cheating “ to gain an advantage.
Absolute joke!
When you consider the bile and vitriol that regularly pours from their supporters on these boards, few fans will be upset to see this expensively assembled team slide down the table.
Oh well, at least they have that sentimental song, written for a musical and which has nothing to do with Liverpool to fall back on.
Organising smoke flares, beer cans and bottles to be thrown at superior oppositions coaches would be a good hint .... worst fans in the world, ever.
